Horizon Hunters

Hello,

I'm hoping to GM my first adventure soon and would like a recommendation for an adventure to play. I'm planning on having 3 to 4 players and need to complete the adventure in under 44 hours (4 hour sessions twice a month).

Thanks in advance,

Rob

levels?

Dragon's Demand could fit in that. It really depends on how much Roleplay they do versus time spent grinding the storyline and doing the dungeons.

Maybe the Crypt of the Everflame trilogy? With a few pfs scenarios in the middle?

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of Crypt of the Everflame as a trilogy. The first two are fine, but the last one isn't very good. It aims high on cinematic spectacle, but the PC's can't actually do anything, and the final boss is extremely lackluster.

I quite like Feast of the Ravenmoor -> Carrion Hill -> House on Hook Street as a module progression. They share common thematic ground, and the antagonists could easily be modified to have some sort of relation with each other and tie them together.

My guess would be Thornkeep, too, since it will be similar to Dragon's Demand as far as scope and duration go. I have not GM'd it, however, though I have read it for reference since I'm currently running two groups through Emerald Spire. Both Emerald Spire and Thornkeep have a similar build style. Thornkeep also provides plenty of hooks for the surrounding area in case you need additional content.

And I agree with Louise Bishop that Dragon's Demand may work, too, depending upon how much time you spend in the town roleplaying.

Silver Crusade

Emerald Spire would also work. The way it's set up, you don't have to do the entire thing for it to be satisfying. There also are some levels that add less to the very light connections beween the levels, and you could skip those.

I've not played them myself, just aware that they probably add up to maybe 40 hours

Agreed, but you would definitely have to skip a few to get it done in 44 hours. It's taking me about 4-6 hours per level so far, and there are 16 of them.

Horizon Hunters

Hello,

Sorry about the delay in following up from my original post. I'm hoping to run three first level characters through either a campaign or a series of adventures. As I'm new to GMing, I thought I'd try and keep the game combat focused and weave in flavor text as necessary.

I own The Rise of the Rune Lords, The Emerald Spire Superdungeon, The Dragon's Demand, and Gallows of Madness. However, I've neither GM'ed nor played any of these.

I've considered playing just a few floors worth of The Emerald Spire or just the first part of RotRL. I've been reluctant to do that thinking I might have a little trouble prematurely ending the campaign. I don't want to disappoint the players with an anti-climatic ending.

I'm going to take your advice and run The Dragon's Demand. It sounds like it might be a good fit for the time I have.

Cordially,

Rob
