My first concern is the Demon trait. This basically provides Demon immunities with Undead immunities. Also, it omits a class trait. The character has both the Arcane and Melee skills, so I’m not sure if she is a wizard, a sorcerer, a arcanist, a summoner, a witch, a magus, or a bloodrager (or a multi-class with fighter). Based on the high weapon card count and lower spell card count, my guess is that the character should be some sort of warrior (probably a fighter). Practically speaking, you don’t necessarily need to use one of the standard classes. The model for this practice is the villains (Hell’s Vengeance Character Decks) and the goblins (promo cards as well as the Goblins Fight! and Goblins Burn! Class Decks). In this, there might be some archetype or prestige class that is appropriate to your character concept.

Looking at skills, the high Arcane doesn’t seem right (assuming the tendency towards a warrior class based on the high weapon card count). The skills also omit some traditional strengths of long-lived vampires; here I’m talking about Knowledge and Diplomacy. Have you considered swapping the Intelligence and Charisma skills, then moving Arcane to Charisma (rendering the Arcane skill more akin to a blood line thing such as a sorcerer or bloodrager would perform, or perhaps bewitching mental powers in line with traditional Western vampires)? An alternative might be to adjust Intelligence to d8 and Charisma to d8, with the shifting of Arcane to Charisma. The essential thing with the Arcane skill is determining the source of the Arcane power – is it intellectual study (such as a wizard or arcanist) or is it something like bloodline or bewitching Undead powers (such as a sorcerer or bloodrager)?

As far as the Melee skill goes, this aligns with images of vampires wielding weapons. Have you considered a hand-to-hand vampire that attacks with tooth and claw? This would require a power, but would also allow you to shift the deck composition around a bit. The power might end as something like:

“For your combat check, you may roll your Strength die and you may add the Piercing (□ and the Magic and Cold) trait; you may recharge a spell to add 1d6 (□ +1)( □ +2) to the check; you may not play a weapon on the check.” (modeled after RotRL Sajan, though I’ve included additional power feats that should be part of the roles rather than the core character)

Going back to the Vampire trait, this falls under the umbrella of the Undead and their immunities. The best precedent for this is the Arueshalae character in the Wrath of the Righteous AP, who has a power that represents the standard immunities of a Succubus (which is a Demon/Fiend/Outsider).

Succubus (RotRL 5 Monster):

“The Succubus is immune to the Electricity, Fire, and Poison traits.”

Arueshalae (WotR character, Succubus)

“Electricity, Fire, and Poison damage dealt to you is reduced by 3 (□ 5).”

Monsters with the Undead trait (all APs, minimum immunity):

“The x is immune to the Mental and Poison traits.”

Following the model of Arueshalae, it would become:

“Mental and Poison damage dealt to you is reduced by 3 (□ 5).”

The only potentially problematic part here is that Mental damage may not normally be reduced, with effects that deal Mental damage typically saying that the damage may not be reduced. Per the hierarchy of cards (Rules: The Golden Rule), character cards overrule other card types (e.g., banes), so the only time this (reducing Mental damage) will be a problem is when the effect is driven by an adventure, scenario, or location rule.

Adding the immunities as a power still leaves room for the two powers you present for the core character.

I recommend removing one or two of the hand size increase power feats. This would allow for shifting one or two power feats over to the other powers (whether you include the 5 increase for the immunities recommended above or not).

The first of your core powers is problematic in roleplaying terms. This power clearly represents the vampire taking sustenance from a defeated foe, which is thematic. The problem comes in that the only excluded foes are those with the Undead trait, but a vampire likely wouldn’t be able to take sustenance from a number of other foes, including those that have the Incorporeal, Elemental, and Construct traits (and there might be some other traits that should also apply). Action-wise, the taking of sustenance should probably only be possible when the defeated foe is banished – there are some foes (not just the villains) that are shuffled back into location decks after being defeated. The phrasing is also inconsistent with normal phrasing (I’m assuming you’re translating from Japanese, so no problem there). I would adjust the power’s phrasing to:

“When you defeat a monster that doesn’t have the Construct, Elemental, Incorporeal, or Undead trait and would banish it, you may succeed at a Dexterity 7 check to recharge a card from your discard pile.”

Personally, I would remove the second power (evasion) and replace it with a power that is appropriate to the character’s class. Since I’m not sure of the class, I’ll forego suggesting a specific replacement (but it doesn’t have to exactly copy a power from an extant official character of that class).

If you follow my recommendation, the existing evasion power might be saved as a power feat for the core character. I’m assuming this is a representation either of the vampire changing shape/turning to fog (or some other vampiric power) and not a rogue-/assassin-type of power. If so, it might be turned into something like:

“□ You may evade a monster (□ and if it is your turn, you may pass a Constitution 4 check to explore your location again).”

Note that I increased the requirement of the check because the Constitution skill is D6 with skill feats up to 2, in which case the original check of 3 would be passed 100% of the time – it seems only right to leave some chance of failure. Depending on how you apportion power feats for the core character, the follow-on exploration power feat might be saved for one or both of the roles.

As far as the deck list goes, I’m going to hold off on any recommendations until I have a better understanding of the character’s class.

Hey Brother Tyler,

I'm pretty new to this Pathfinder, D&D genre, that roleplay hooked me all my life, but thought every time I'm to dumb for it, and wanted to play games w/o DM, anyway I bought this adventure game with my wife as a little beginner box.
But I wanted every time to create and play a character as I want.
So I created Elise, she should be a tough girl fighting with weapons and take that source out of her enemies, but also love your thinking about a bite attack :)
Her ability to cast spells she learned over years, by reading and trying.

Just thinking about a girl running around with a sword, killing her enemies a,nd drinking their blood to regenerate, and maybe piercing em with an arcane strike or smth.

I'm sorry for my English, just using my school English, I'm from Germany:)
