Purple Sphere Aeon Stone
Pretty neat. A magical self-charging force field for the level 7 range? Nice.

Barachius Helm
Oh sweet! A helm that gives paladin-like detect evil and some other nifty bonuses? Cool! My Solarian wants one of these.

Aura Goggles
Neat. Mostly a savings throw bonus vs sight based things. Nice. Also allows arcane sight to be cast.

Bone Cestus
Ooooh, HWalsh like. Very cool looking, if mediocre damage-wise, one handed weapons.

Shadowstaves
Okay, these are neat, I could see these being used by Drow. Cool melee weapons that double as small arms and do other useful things. Very unique. They remind me of the staff weapons from Stargate SG-1.

Dragonglaives
Oooooh giant dragon polearms of death! I like! I like a lot!

Electrovore Gloves
This is interesting, a 1 handed melee weapon that can do 12d6 damage (at level 20) on a punch (does require recharging, but can also self-charge on critical hits) that is in-line with other comparable level weapons. The damage doesn't stack with unarmed, but this might be one of the few ways to pull it off. Worth taking a look at.

Space Monk build perhaps?

Memory Expunger
Nice, a technological equivalent to modify memory.

Nanite Weapon Fusion
For a weapon used by what is effectively an Angel this thing is mean. It is a blade that literally eats its victims. Sweet!

Kyokor Plating
Nothing special here, but looks really neat. Great for the higher dex heavy armor solarian though and a great bargain on upgrade slots.

Reckless Gloves
Interesting little magical item for those who enjoy vehicular melee.

Resilient Jacket
Level 2 item that helps with Fort Saves by letting you re-roll them. Not bad.

Trampling Boots
Neat item allows you to ignore (some) difficult terrain and, once per day, run through enemies? Pretty cool.

Eoxian Wrackstaff
A curious melee weapon. Nothing too special. Is very fun to say though... Wrackstaff.

Diasporian Sniper Rifles
Decent sniper rifles, short ranges, fun for Operatives and Soldiers who want more of a selection.

Ocucloak Processor
Nice! Tag teams with a special cloak item and this brain implant makes you unflankable!

Acid Lancers
Oooh, acid spears. Very fun.

So, aside from some consumables this is a list of what the Alien Archive has in it. I am posting this (as vague as I am) to just discuss what is in the book for items without posting the main details. I figure this lets people know if they want the book or not without giving valuable info away. In any case, pretty neat stuff to add some more flavor to your Starfinder game.

That looks like a very interesting list of stuff. Can't wait for my copy to finally get here.

Thanks for sharing. ^_^

I will point out that the Nanite Fusion is used by an Inevitable, not an Angel, and those things... aren't usually nice :3

Still cool as hell.

As far as Inevitables go, this version actually seems helpful.

I'm just happy to get more items in general :)

Oh yeah, it's definitely the nicest Inevitable revealed.

And yay! Moar stuff!

Sovereign Court

Well I guess an acid spear is pretty nice. I'm still saddened by the lack of acidic weapons. The dart guns are fine I guess but I was hoping to eventually get some that could use batteries like the cryo guns.

I super like acid damage and was sad that only dart guns gave me that option overall. But at least i can have a melee weapon now so thats cool

The Nanite Fusion's damage effect functions as Acid so there's that.

The acid lancers are actually heavy weapons that fire lines of acid, and use a synthetic acid liquid compound that costs the same as petrol.

Awesome, I guess that will be a nice work around assuming its a level I can get it soon.

Oh ok, I just assumed lance as in spear instead of lance as in beam weapon. Awesome. I'll be picking up heavy weapon prof soon so i can run that

I wanna say level 5. Knee is swollen so I'm laying down. Thus I can't get to my PDF.

The acid lancer heavy weapon has 4 levels: 4, 9, 14, 19 and has the Analog, Boost, Line and Unwieldy properties.

Personally the ammo consumption is a tad high for my personal preference (5 shots for the tier 4, 4 shots for the tier 9, then 5 again for the tier 14 and 4 again for the tier 19).

The Nanite Weapon infusion is level 6 and only when you crit does the damage turn into acid. It's also a melee weapon only fusion.

I love it as a GM because I can give the PCs a cool item that isn't a particularly strong power buff.

How does maze-core gear WORK exactly? The book seemed kind of vague, but it’s basically two items that run on the same power source, right?

Yep, there's some increased costs but it also saves time on switching weapons.

Won't give full rules but basically. Slightly bigger bulk than the biggest item (not a saving if you have a Heavy weapon turning into a One handed melee, but deffo on having two big things.) Substantially more cost. Shared powersource if they share a power source. Get to change between the two with only a Swift.

wait so what can you exactly do with this box item?

No new finesse weapons is kind of a bummer.

i was day dreaming about something similar a while back, some psuedo science ray that attacks electron bonds would basically translate to acid damage, wouldnt it?

Oooh. Niven invented one of these. A Thrintun Disintegrator worked by emitting a field that rendered electrons chargeless. The resulting cloud of atomic nuclei would blow itself apart due to mutual positive charge.

So there's your pseudoscience, if you want to design one.

Ringworld series, yeah?

Now to use maze-core tech to combine a doshko and sniper rifle.

Is Maze-core tech obvious? can you combine a mundane knife or ceremonial sword with a grenade launcher or x-gen gun or something?

I think both of the component devices have to be powered or technological in nature.

You can make your laser pistol into a computer, but you couldn't add a primitive spear to your sniper rifle (at least not with this tech).

My copy of the AP just came in and i am very happy to see Proton Decoupler weapons available in pistol, longarm and heavy weapon variants. I think these may become my default energy weapons from here on out.

Short range, big damage. 3d20 for a pistol is ridiculous.

3d20??? That's gotta' be a typo.

Ravingdork wrote:

Nope, the rifle does 5d20, as does the heavy weapon. Admittedly those are 20th level weapons and have tiny range increments (30 for both pistol and rifle, 40 for the heavy but it's a line.)

Don't you mean Disintegrator...

Are there any sci-fi examples of technology similar to the maze core stuff in AA? The closest I can think of was a “memoryform” in Iain Banks’ first Cukture novel, Consider Phlebas. An agent had a false tooth that reconfigured itself into a very light and very airy version of a plasma pistol, as well as a pendant that became a more substantial one. But in that example only one mode was active technology, the other just being a disguise.

Its not really sci-fi but almost every weapon in RWBY is some sort of melee weapon with a gun integrated into it somehow, the main character's sniper-scythe I mentioned earlier would be an example. There are also spear-rifles, hammer-grenade launchers, and a purse-heavy machine gun.

On a grander scale variable fighters/Veritechs, Transformers, the Armored Genesis MOSPEADA cycle armor, the Garland from Magazine 23, and so on. :)

Yep! No one said disintegrators were particularly reliable weapons, but they Do get the job done. On average.

Yeah I was told the second AP has acid weapons in it, i'm now trying to figure out how to convince the GM to let me have a peek at them. Acid is the most superior energy type after all :)

So what does everyone think of the Kyokor armor and aeon guard armor? is it worth it the price for that aeon stone slot that the aeon armors have?

Now i just need to scour sources for "reroll a D20" or "+X to a D20" abilities... :p

Why ... why didn't I think of that?

A maze-core hover pod/flight frame combo. It's not technically rules-legal, but I'm the GM! I can do anything!

I want a motorcycle that transforms into a heavy weapon wielding suit of power armor.

Re: Disintegrators. Another pseudoscience explanation for this class of weapon would be that disintegrators suppress the strong nuclear force, which keeps the atomic nuclei together. Objects and creatures near the target would suffer from radiation damage, since the target is now a cloud of Neutrons, Protons, and Electrons.

I think this should be relatively easy to do. Just have stats for each mode, and handwave the exact details of the transformation process. Unless you want me to actually design one using GURPS: Mecha and port it over to Starfinder? It's all just numbers anyway.

Edit: Besides, no-one really knows where the SDF-3 went. Just sayin'. ;)

Actually, while I'd have to run the numbers, I suspect it wouldn't be radiation damage, so much as "Everything Explodes Now" damage ( fire, I guess? Plasma, so fire/electricity? ). There's a *lot* of potential energy stored in those nuclei via electromagnetic repulsion. Not quite an antimatter like explosion, but closer to that than a nice physically-harmless wave of radiation.

( This is all assuming realistic physics, natch, which for Starfinder we shouldn't. However, I wouldn't be averse to defining a "Strong Force Suppressor" as a damaging attack, where you then make a reflex save, and if it fails, there's also a plasma explosion centered on you. )
