*static* "hey guys... this is your pilot speaking... I think we've hit some sort of temporal anomaly. Maybe a wormhole. We *have* arrived at port, but if you'll look out your starboard viewscreen, you will see our ship leaving atmo two weeks ago..." *static*

Maybe adjust the Astrogation check results to further reduce the time factor?

If transit time is dependent upon the density of region traveled (scaling from 4 to 10 hours base time through a sector),

and

. . . established hyperlanes provide a reduction in timescale per sector of 2 steps (major routes -- Hydian, Perlemian, etc.) or 1 step (charted course from Onderon to Ambria, for instance),

. . . maybe just graduate the degrees of success as a "step reduction/magnification"?

I'd have to see *all* the math to make a suggestion. Maybe bring your notes next time we storm brains?

No doubt.

At this point, I may need to dig out the Skill Challenge Handbook...

By all means, do! :)

That's simply a jokesy suggestion. I'm not going to put more on your plate than you're willing to accept, Rednal. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Make sure you read that, Synchro. :D

You've seen how much I eat.

This is definitely one of the nerdiest things I have ever seen.

I'd happily accept a crown and accolades (or at least partial credit) for the nerdiest thing on a tabletop rpg messageboard. We get Internets for that, right?

Well, in fairness, that handbook is really only for situations that are more complex than a single dice roll should represent. XD Anything that can be solved in one roll generally should be.

In the meantime, I feel like I should look at my weapon choices. Rhea is totally an unarmed combatant, but if nothing else, she might wear a weapon for show to discourage casual trouble...

Well, I've posted some baseline information, but it would be more direct if I just asked:

Do you have anything in mind?

'Cause I can build and price it, easily.

I was thinking of using Lemmy's system to create something like a Sage's Knife, with two instances of the Utility, Major effect.

(So, a Simple Light weapon, 1d3 Slashing, 19-20/x2 crit, with built-in Light and, say, Arcane Mark-like effects. In story terms, a letter-opener with a flashlight and an official seal for signing documents, confirming pay, etc. Biometrically keyed, maybe, to make it not worth stealing. XD More 'occasionally handy' than 'actually dangerous'.)

Reminds me: base gp roll for the sage class? (I haven't tried the second link yet.)

Not at my notes, presently, but that looks like a 1350cr weapon to me. Paying quite a bit for the biometric family insignia . . . .

And the "glow rod" angle -- normal light, 10' cone??

Well, that seemed like the least amount of security an intelligence service would have.

Though, Sages get 1d6 x 10, average 35, so I may have to wait a bit for it. (Do try that second link, just in case it does work. XD)

Honestly, I'm not too worried about gear - my character is built to not really rely on it, and at any rate, few characters in Star Wars rely on much more than weapons, armor, and the odd gadget anyhow.

Yeah, 600 credits could be . . . disappointing.

Plenty of loot to gain, though!! :)

Sorry for my absence of late. I had some health problems.

Oh I love this. We are going to have the best time committing murders.

*cough* Bringing peace to the galaxy.

...Aggressive negotiations?

*ahem*

Wanton slaughter.

for Harm's:
Better? Maybe?: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Guess not. Sorry.

Go ahead and choose which way it is:
1) Hold-out blaster, "padded armor", and a 25-credit credcoin/credstick (or a variation thereof)

*or*

2) A 600-credit stash somewhere on your former mentor's ship, now on lockdown on a landing pad not too far away from your current location

Monies: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 6) = 15

That's supposed to be 4d4.

RTFP! lol

Well that's ten more than average. Hooah.

Pajanimals and My Little Pony movies, Santa!:

Shopping List:
Robes
Quarterstaves (×3)
[How much is a collapsible modification?]
Dagger (×2)
Blaster Pistol (possibly the sporting variant)
Oversized Gungan Facemask (priceless)
Backpack:
Rope equivalent
Datapad journal
Various multitools and/or mechanic's kit
Snacks (various)
Half a pack of deathsticks

Wat. Fine.

New Pair of Shoes: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 3) = 10

Really?

You *seriously* went ahead and violated the First and Great Commandment???

'Cause we really can't even talk about Naboo, yet. Much less the Race That Shall Not Be Named, Lest Ye Die.

You've been served notice.

*eyeroll*

. . . did you skim Antagonize again??

The jedi council gave it to me! It's my deep cover persona...

*gripegrumblecuss*

The signs were all right there.

Bah. Fine. The group halloween party will suffer now.

A faint 'meesa so sorryyyy" is heard as the large Facemask is ejected from an airlock.

*shakes fist*

*seethes mightily*

I'm not saying the Sarlacc solves people problems. I'm just saying people problems tend to stop when you use the Sarlacc.

What *does* happen when a mythic-tier Sith Lord throws a Sarlacc at Cthulhu??

The Sarlacc gets a taste, then dies shortly after as the collected consciousnesses of the creatures it's absorbed simultaneously go insane and provide enough negative psychic feedback to shut the Sarlacc's body down. o wo The Sarlacc is big and nasty, but it's not even close to Cthulhu's CR.

We just can't have nice things...

You forgot who was wielding that Sarlacc . . . . :D

Yeah, but even a max-level and max-tier Sith Lord should only be CR 25 or so. XD

...

Though, as far as Star Wars lore goes, I feel like Hastur is a more appropriate comparison for something people might encounter... (Tends to drive people crazy when they talk to it, hard to permanently kill, shapeshifting, possesses people...)

Liberty's Edge

What is the Handle Animal DC to tame and weaponize a sarlacc?

Oh, wait a second, beastmastery sphere allows to tame beasts... I could eventually have a pet rancor! Or a krayt dragon! Oh, beastmastery is SO going on my list.

So... Nightsister, then? Ah, but those are way later in the timeline...

Also:

Unholy flamin' cheeseballs, Batman! I "found" our half-elf!!

Zabrak

Medium humanoid (Zabrak)
30' movement speed
Languages: Basic, Zabrak
Ability Score Adjustment: A Zabrak character gains a +2 racial modifier to any two scores of his or her choice.
Static Bonus Feats: Zabrak gain Great Fortitude and Iron Will as bonus feats at first level.
Multitalented: Zabrak characters may select two favored classes at first level, and may gain appropriate favored class bonuses when gaining a level in either of the selected classes.
Unfailing Confidence: Zabrak gain a +2 racial bonus to saving throws against fear and despair effects. Also, once per day, after rolling a natural 1 on a d20 roll, a Zabrak may choose to reroll the die and use the second result.

---------

It's 10 RP, just like all the others, but . . . .

Wow.

The race builder is a rough guideline at best. XD

Maybe a 'choice-of' option on that bonus feat. Human feels a lil on the cheap side now.

Add the Integrated racial characteristic to humans, and that gets 'em to 10 RP.

Dropping the Linguist characteristic opens up another option @ 1 RP.

Let's see . . . .

'Cause I'm gonna push for 10 RP for all the "base" races.

And, no, it's not perfect. Not by any means. But I believe it can be done!

And the human race, and all its variants, *should* be able to be reasonably represented.

Hapans
Miraluka
Korunnai
Echani

We can work something out, surely!

EDIT: Drop Linguist, gain the Eternal Hope trait (rebranded as Unfailing Confidence for the Zabrak, above) for Corellians, even!

Skill training for 1 RP. Integrated is kinda pigeonholed.

Ahhh. I can dig that, also.

Or: drop Linguist, keep Skilled and Flexible Bonus Feat, add the +2 to two stats trait.

For what it's worth, Rhea was built as a simple, vanilla human. XD Not sure I'd actually want too much to be changed, actually, given how little flexibility I've got at first level to make the concept work.

Liberty's Edge

Miraluka can only get blindsense 30 ft. (4 RP), and there isn't a voice for how many RPs could be gained by becoming blind. Maybe 4 as well. Wasn't there some Falmer-like underground race somewhere? Maybe in 3.5?

Considering that the Miraluka have an inherent Force-based ability to "see", I don't think it's imperative that we go with the 4 RP blindsense trait. (Besides -- that indicates, to me, physiological characteristics that diverge in a major way from baseline human genetic stock.) It would be no great stretch to make use of the 'standard magical talents' rules to find an appropriate avenue to express their Force Sight capability without shucking the feat and/or Skilled trait.

Rednal --

Considering the 'canonical' validity of the Hapans' typical physical attractiveness and familiarity with Byzantine political maneuverings, adding a socially-focused iteration of Skill Training would make sense, and changes nothing of the base race.
----------
While I *do* want to enable racial builds that satisfy players' goals, I also want to make sure that we keep the broader understanding of human variants in mind when we finalize the ethnic offshoots.

That's fair *and* enabling, right?
