Question about Raksashas

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

The feline headed Raksashas of D&D ( I know the creatures of Indian folklore are totally different) are one of my favorite monsters.Have they ever been featured significantly in any of the novels or short stories based on the Pathfinder setting?

Grand Lodge

I don't know about the fiction but there is a well known NPC in one of the cities who is a Rakshasa in disguise.

Adventure Path:
Curse of the Crimson Throne

....In the campaign there is an NPC named Bahor and his sister Vimanda; they are Rakshasas. But Bahor is disguised as the human Glorio Arkona and Vimanda is disguised as his wife, Melyia.

The beastblood tieflings in Blood of Fiends have rakshasa ancestry (or at least carry their fiendish taint).

It's not Paizo canon, but I added some new (well, previously cut for length) lore involving a rakshasha immortal's plot in one of the critter entries in the Wayfinder Bestiary (free!):

Spoiler:
Addiction Devil (Atropocustra) wrote:
They have long memories, even for devils, and they do not forgive betrayals. It is rumored that millennia ago, a conclave of a rakshasa immortal, his court, dozens of elder atropocustras, and an archdevil all forged a fiendish concordance that would create the vishkanya race. Just before the completion of the compact, the rakshasa immortal’s betrayal lead to the annihilation of hundreds of atropocustras and thousands of damned souls in a planar rift. Expecting betrayal, the elder devils sheared the silver threads enshackling the vishkanya race to the rakshasa’s atman. To this day, the atropocustras continue to seek and pursue the now-mortal rakshasa and his servants in each reincarnation... as well as any sages foolish enough to research the tale’s veracity.

Again, it isn't official canon, but maybe it might give you ideas for similar rakshasha plots and intrigue.

Shadow Lodge

There's a Rakshasa and his brood that feature prominently in one of the cities in Distant Shores.

What I haven't been able to find is anything anti-rakshasa to build on, anywhere. There's no prestige classes, archetypes, societies, special weapons or spells... nothing. The best you've got for specializing in them is Favored Enemy.

Liberty's Edge

They appear in the Book of the Damned sourcebook that was recently released in the RPG line

There is a variant Raksasha in Serpent's Skull; it isn't really featured but does exist.

Serpent Skull spoiler:
I recall it being a crocodile Raksasha and is located in Saventh-Yhi (Books 3 or 4)
