Sorry for not explaining properly. Baymax is the robot from big hero 6. I figured this was the right system to build him, so I put him in my submission. I will move him very soon.
I’ll look at term 3
As for the counting... your GURPS game was labeled (4) gate, and this is labelled (3) Traveller
EDIT: Read your other games. Now the question is: Why do you have 2 3’s?

Hey everyone!
As I got a surprise job offer about 300 miles away from where I live, I'd like to bow out of the game, simply because I'm not certain how much time I'll have left for PbP, since I'll have to move, furnish a new place to live, and also, obviously, work.
I thank the GM for introducing the system to me and for the help with building a character, and I'm sorry that I (somewhat) wasted your time with that. I wish best of luck to the game, and I hope it's a brilliant one!

Congratulations Lion Cleric! Glad you got a good job offer, and sorry to loose you, but glad it's to such a good reason!
@Ancient Dragon Master : I number them to make sure on my campaign's page they show up at the top (also helps them show up at the top of my players campaign page). The first games on the campaign page tend to get updated most frequently in my experience. :)
I have 2 3's because the old 3 is about to shut down, and this one is taking it's place.

Yes, but given the time constraints, I'm pretty much going to have to run your entire career in one go tonight, and you'll need to finish the character by 8PM tomorrow. I'll do that in a second.

You must have your character in THIS FORMAT as specified earlier in the thread. If it's not in this format, it cannot be considered for the initial game. It can only be put on the backup list. Thanks.

You don’t gain the benefit roll for this term due to not being able to survive the intricacies of court.
This is my first 4 yearly report. We all write one in case we die, so they can be sent back to our families. I was promoted to a spacehand after my first year of training. For the next year I worked hard fixing up engines with my mechanical Skill. Then I was given a special job as scribe for the Admiral. I was ecstatic. Here was my chance to prove myself before the highest in the navy. I rarely saw him, however my work came directly from him. When my 2 years as a scribe were over I was commissioned to the rank of ensign (the lowest rank of the officers). I was taught how to use blades.
Term 2
This is my second 4 yearly report. I havaen’t yet seen warfare, but I have seen survivors of it. Mildly injured at best, horrifically mauled at worst. I was promoted again to sublieutenant, and I got a bigger room now I can keep my desk and computer out instead of folded away somewhere. I also got gifted somewhere around 20, 000 credits. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. I spent a lot of time in the firing ranges practising for war. It has only been luck that has kept me out of it, and I need to be as prepared as I can.
Term 3
This is my third 4 yearly report. I still havaen’t gone on to the front lines. I was promoted again this time to lieutenant. I was given another special assignment, i can’t talk about it (i’m not allowed). Suffice to say that it was difficult. I’m progressing along well, my strength has increased a huge amount. I’m spending less time in the ranges now and more time in the library pouring over books about naval tactics.
Term 4
This is my fourth 4 yearly report. I went on to the front lines for the first time. I was lucky that I wasn’t shot as i ordered my troops. 5 men died as i watched. My practise in the firing range was paying off, however and i managed to kill every pirate that killed a man. I got promoted yet again. I joined a gambling circle in which I havaen’t yet lost money, only gained.
Term 8
... After all that mess with the betrayal i decided to take a trip on the luxury liner, to clear my thoughts and have some relaxation time before reentering tge mess that us the courts.

Her current plight started in the arms of Chip Dillion, Captain of the Merchant Vessel Lone Star. Captain Dillon was from somewhere called Texas. To hear him talk about it you would have thought Texas was the economic, cultural, and moral center of the known universe. In reality it was a minor republic on the planet Terra. Chip talked big but dreamed bigger and that was one of the things Tam liked most about him, his swagger. Over the two years serving on his ship she had grown close with the Captain, perhaps to close. They enjoyed good times together and it could have continued if the fool of a Captain didn’t ruin it by asking her to make their relationship official by saying the words. Angered by his betrayal, Tam did wat came natural to her and ran. She Booked passage on the first vessel out of the system the Verdant Dawn.
Jumping from ship to ship was natural for Tam, having served on several different ships over the last eight years her life. All of them merchant traders of one type or another; The Rascal, Loki, Paladin, Last Hope, Nexus, Kitty Hawk, and finally the Lone Star. Each ship and crew with its own personality and quirks.
Tam wasn’t always a wanderer and vagrant and Chip’s betrayal wasn’t the first she suffered. Tam enjoyed a twelve year career in the Darrian Special Arm, rising to the rank of Captain. Her career was meteoric in its rise and just as quick in its falling. She was betrayed twice by the same man, Belehn Nasihld Nono. her commanding officer and one time lover. He betrayed her when she was new to the Special Arm by not assigning her to missions she was qualified for. The second time was when he was the judge in her court martial that resulted in Tam being discredited and kicked out of the Special Arm.
It seemed that the men she loved were always betraying her, just as her father did. Tam grew up in Jacent in a well to do family. Her Grandfather had started Ratanenga Industries an engineering company that developed some ground breaking tech fifty years ago, a business her father ran into the ground. Unfortunately, her father couldn’t cope with the stress of running a business and being compared to his successful father. He sought solace in illegal drugs, ultimately overdosing, destroying the business and the family. Tam ran from that tragedy and into the Special Arm.
On the surface Tam appears aloof and pragmatic. Underneath it all is a seething rage, rage at her father for his weakness, rage at The Special Arm for letting her go, and rage at her self for running away from attachments. Although she seldom lets her anger show it is boiling beneath the surface and has led her into trouble on more than one occasion.
Tam has little tolerance for bullies and an innate wander lust. She makes her way across the universe righting small (and large) wrongs and she views herself like a medieval knight errant wandering the galaxy. She travels light, living a spartan lifestyle, and has little love for material things.
She has a wry sense of humor and often gives advice in riddles, aphorisms, and metaphors with a knowing grin.
Connections TBD.

BEHOLDER escapes destruction, but not without becoming the subject of a grudge.
Term 2 – Fugitive Robot (Bandit): BEHOLDER lays low for a while, becoming a marauding shadow that leaves neither supplies nor survivors as it hides out in the husk of a fallen ship.
Using what they were able to gather during their time hiding, BEHOLDER gets a makeover. Time for applications.
Term 3 – Corporate (Bodyguard): Somehow, BEHOLDER finds itself as the protector of a surprisingly influential suit.
He was a dick who wouldn’t pay for basic maintenance. BEHOLDER did not regret agreeing to undermine his business efforts for compensation. They were only protector of his life – not his wallet.
Term 4 – Corporate (Bodyguard): BEHOLDER discovers evidence of corruption amongst the directors.
This is soon leveraged for personal benefit.
Some upgrades and one fired dick of a suit later (turns out he was leaking info, who knew), BEHOLDER is now on better terms with the director, and in the far more responsible hands of one of the inhabitants of the ISS Verdant Dawn.
Specifically, the business connections of a very paranoid individual whose hired protectors had turned on her one time too many.
She reached out to the cutting edge firms of the Imperium, and they delivered, granting her the means to build a protector she knew would never intend to harm her. And in record time, too. The software company in particular got their work done far in advance of their deadline.
That should have been a bad sign, really, but she was just eager for loyal protection as soon as possible.
Term 1
All is well initially. BEHOLDER lives up to expectation, shooting down attempts of various natures on its charge, and not even giving consideration to betraying her all the while. She should know, she checked.
For once in her life, she could relax in the knowledge that she was safe. And so, she actually started to get lax. Increasingly menial duties were assigned to BEHOLDER with the danger forgotten, the bot doing significant amounts of busy work that really wasn’t in its original design specification, but got foisted onto it anyway because it was a robot and complaining robots got scrapped. BEHOLDER didn’t seem pleased with this, but it knew its lot in life.
Then comes the fateful day. The lady and her robotic protector are on a secure space station, located in the vast expanse for the sole reason of making the research taking place within harder to gain unauthorised access to. Her job today is to ensure that all is proceeding smoothly, management having been breathing down her neck constantly due to the importance of the project at hand. It was nothing revolutionary, yes – but it was profitable, and that was all that mattered.
Pride and joy swells in the bot at the first genuine show of appreciation it had ever received, followed by panic and fear as it finds a concerning error in its hostile assessment protocols that her enthusiastic display triggered. Suddenly, its owner was deemed as nought more than an average assailant, and all the people of the station she was here to meet accomplices.
Her death was unforeseen and instantaneous – while they couldn’t stop what was to happen next, BEHOLDER knew she deserved that much. Everyone after that, however, died in an agonising spray of blood and gore.
As BEHOLDER fled the station, ejecting itself off to a nearby planet, the boy watching the screens that day was in hysterics. Tears flowed freely as he openly mourned his mother, cruelly taken from him by the rogue robot that had come on site that day. It might have been selfish that hers was the only life he cared for, but it was her that the young man had always held dear, and the others who inhabited the station were all strangers to him.
He would mourn for a long time. And then when that came to an end, his mind would turn elsewhere.
Vengeance.
Term 2
News spread of the incident aboard the research station. Footage of BEHOLDER’s rampage circulated, and the bot itself went into hiding, stowing away in the corpse of a fallen cargo ship after a time wandering the icy expanse it had fallen to.
With time, effort, and some scrounging, BEHOLDER managed to get the ship’s heating systems online, ensuring they wouldn’t fall immediately to the excessive cold of their surroundings. That was all the bot had going for it, though. They had no doubt they would be sought out, and without even the protections afforded to property for them to rely on, the future looked grim if they were found.
Better not to be found, then.
BEHOLDER spent quite a while hiding out in that crashed ship, making life hell for the foolhardy travellers that dared stray too close to its hideout. Ambushes awaited those not vigilant in the blizzards of the planet, the bot emerging from behind snow and ice to ruthlessly tear apart any with the supplies it needed to ensure its existence for the foreseeable future. Vehicles were torn apart once their drivers had been slaughtered, used to make crude repairs and fortifications. On rare occasions BEHOLDER’s hideout would see visitors, and in turn those visitors would find the surviving self-defence turrets of the ship pointed their way.
Eventually, that all came to an end. After having managed to locate a settlement that saw interstellar traffic and commandeering a vehicle that could be used to take them there, BEHOLDER gathered up what they had and headed to that settlement a couple of days before the next arrival. There, BEHOLDER was able to use its ill-gotten gains pay off a maintenance droid to alter some identification keys, properly fit its impromptu upgrades to its defences, fix the damn bug that got it in this mess in the first place, and give it a serious cosmetic overhaul. By the end of it, BEHOLDER looked a lot better, and was no longer identifiable as a massacre-bot by standard checks.
One last bribe to see it into the land of corporations, and BEHOLDER was ready to do what it was built to once more.
Term 3
The good news was that BEHOLDER was now working for an influential figure in the field of pharmaceuticals, with all that affords.
The bad news was that BEHOLDER was overworked and taken for granted, and was in many ways worse off than the days when they butchered people and turned their vehicles into scrap to fix up a ship only called home because it had a salvageable heating system.
Somehow, that was less work than dealing with the guy who owned them now. Better quality of life, too.
While BEHOLDER’s malcontent went ignored by its newest owner, the same could not be said by those who sought his information. A lot of very profitable information went through his offices, and they wanted that.
As such one day, BEHOLDER received a message promising solid compensation for the information their owner had. And BEHOLDER was not one to refuse such an offer, given the outstanding standard of care it had received thus far.
He deserved it, the bastard. It wasn’t like the company would go under for this. Plus, now BEHOLDER had some shiny new toys, and the skills to use them.
Term 4
As much as BEHOLDER was still overworked, now that they had the means to get their maintenance done and a sick sense of satisfaction at undermining its owner’s business efforts, things felt a lot better.
A recent deal they’d struck that they were now waiting to wrap up helped with the matter.
You see, BEHOLDER had noticed evidence of high level corruption. A more moral and idealistic bot would have sought to let the truth be known so that corruption could be purged, but being the cynical thing it was, BEHOLDER was well aware that the other directors would be just as bad, to say nothing of any replacements they might have.
It was also well aware that being on a director’s good side tended to be beneficial.
After taking sufficient precautions to ensure they wouldn’t be turned to scrap, BEHOLDER made surreptitious contact with the director. The arrangement was simple – BEHOLDER would help to implicate its current possessor in place of the director. Then, the director would reveal ‘their’ dirty deeds, and reap the rewards. Afterwards, BEHOLDER would be seen to better hands (the director undoubtedly profiting on the way), receiving a little touch-up on the way.
It went off without a hitch, and BEHOLDER was never suspected.
It was through all of this that BEHOLDER finally ended up aboard the ISS Verdant Dawn, secure in the knowledge that they were in responsible hands for once thanks to working with the director.
...well. Before the ship crashed, anyway.
As such, to those that treat them well (or rather, well enough) BEHOLDER responds with loyalty and dedication, willing to go great lengths on their behalf. On the flip side, failure to treat BEHOLDER with proper care is a good way to ensure that they will undermine your efforts as it benefits them, whenever they feel they can get away with it. BEHOLDER can be a petty, vindictive bot indeed.
In the end, BEHOLDER is always looking out for its own survival, taking what they can get when they can get it. The question is if they’ll look out for yours as well.

Thank you to everyone who applied, and I now must start the hard process of picking people. I will begin sending out PM's to people, once I have everyone selected and responded, I'll post a final list of acceptees here, and put everyone else who wants to be on the backup list on it. If you do not want to be on the backup list, please post that. Otherwise I'll put you on by default.

mdt |

No worries. I missed the part about formatting, and I would not have broken shomer Shabbat to post it today. I'll finalize the formatting in a bit just so you have a backup. Good luck to all who are on the list of potentials.
Sorry you missed it, I've been listing it for a couple of days. I understand about waiting though. You'll be on the backup list for sure.

mdt |

Ok, so, after looking over all the applications, I've sent out a series of PMs for the first round. If you have not received a PM at this time, it means you have not made the first cut. I am sorry, all the submissions were great, but I had 9 finalized submissions and only 4 slots. As it is, I did what I told myself I wouldn't and sent out 5 instead of 4.
Everyone not already having been sent a PM will be on the backup list. Those who received PM's have 4 days to have an alias and post in the gameplay/discussion threads. If they do not, I'll move to the backuplist and begin PM'ing people on it.
I would like to thank everyone for their submissions, and reiterate that this was not a fun winnowing down. I had 12 criteria I assigned the submissions a numeric value between 0 and 5, and in the end, the top 7 submissions were within 8 pts of each other.
BTW: If it seems like it was a fast selection, remember that most of the submissions were finalized a couple of days ago, so I really only had to go through the ones submitted today and add them into my analysis grid. So not really as fast as it might seem.

Player Post history, breadth of skills (4 types of categorization), Uniqueness, background, personality, GM preference, Feedback I requested from a couple of different people on the site, overall completeness of character (how well rounded they were). Final scores were mostly between 27 and 35. So all around a great set of submissions. I try to create a matrix because it keeps me from using hidden bias's I might have (I've gotten burned by that a few times as a GM).

mdt |

*sighs* i didnd’t get in. Was probably my posting history, uniqueness. Feedback, Breadth of player skills and background that stopped me coming in.
I am prone to making stereotypical characters
You're on the backup list (unless you don't want to be). And you were only a few points off making the cut, so it was very close. Honestly, all 9 were pretty much within a few points of each other.
And you were about average on 'stereotypical' so don't sweat it.

Peet |

I tried to keep you in exploration whenever possible, and in survey when that failed. Dice did not like you. :( Sorry about that.
Yeah, pretty disappointing.
Was hoping for piloting and a bump in DEX. Instead, DEX went down and I got a bunch of INT based skills. :(
I think we can deep-six this character.

Could you PM me a link to this? (I’ve been wondering about gming a PBP game for a while and this would help with not being biased)

Yep, sorry about that. If you want to create another charcter to put on the backup list, we can do that. Just let me know.

Looks like a noble Zhodani.
From earlier. But after reviewing the book a little further I'm going to switch endurance and education. This results in the education getting boosted to 8. This places me pretty well for a career in the guards.
