The live spider is way better for you. Guaranteed fresh, contains protein. ...you even eat it for the spell (or at least you used to).
Ha I remember that bobx3 was thinking the same thing!
I played a game a long time ago (1st edition) where the party was chasing down creatures in a city and they jumped form building to building so to catch them we needed a ton of spider climbs. the wizard who was getting tired of eating spiders said he was out of spell ingredients. So we all looked around on the ground for spiders turning and handing them to him with a big smile on our faces.Jeraa |
Why powdered pears and live spiders? Eat the fruit tarts used for hideous laughter.
But seriously? No. Spell component pouches aren't infinite dispensers of food. Exactly how they have what you need isn't clearly stated, but getting infinite anything from them is definitely game breaking and not intended. Having just what you need to cast your spells is fine.

Th reason I'm asking this question is I was reading the spells in the core rulebook and one of the components for Acid fog was powdered pears, and as spell component pouch grants you infinite spell components, a wizard could live forever off a single pouch.
It's the GM's job to cut you off when you start doing unreasonable things due to the RAW. Spell component pouch is non-magical and has a listed weight of 2lbs. Under stavation, says a medium creature needs at least 1lb of food per day, or they starve.
So, sure, maybe a day or two of survival value in a Spell Component Pouch with a *nice* GM. Not enough to live forever, but in an emergency...

Other edible pouch ingredients.
You could seriously make a cook book with those ingredients.
