Neutralize magic Item

Advice

Long time reader, first time writer.

I play a mid-level wizard in a campaign and I've gotten my hands on a lot of golden headbands imbued with a weak enchantment aura (mind control)

The question is, how can you remove the magic properties without destroying the item or using high level spells like wish?

Feed it to a disenchanter. Insert magical item, receive nonmagical item.

There isn't much to permanently disenchant items besides the disenchanter.

Maybe smelting them down and shaping new ones with fabricate will do?
Or you can break them up and let someone cast Make Whole on them who doesn't have the level to restore the magical properties.

Rod of cancellation, but at 11K a shot it's not very cost effective.

Still, a higher level caster could come along and restore the things later, so it might still be slightly irresponsible to put those back into the wild.

I'm getting an idea for a wheel of aura laundering to prevent such problems....

Magic supplies for items are always half of the base price in gp

There is no Raw Rule to this, but I would think you could use the Craft items Feats to use parts from other items as Magic Supplies for an item you are wanting to make. Depending on how you run Magic Item Creation in you game, you may have to find appropriate materials.

Example:
If you wanted to make a Headband worth 6000gp.
Say your golden headbands are worth 2000gp, so 1000gp would be materials. Witch you could maybe use 300gp as supplies (GM could give less or more). You could use 10 golden headbands to help make the Headband you want.

That is actually a very good idea. I play a conjurer with summoning spells.
