male Lich Azlanti Wizard/20 cyphermage/10 Diabolist/10

how are we doing abilitie scores

Hey Run, Just Run

I'm not sure if we'll have a spot, or if it'll have to go to gfvelastegui for calling it first. It's not my choice though. If you want to keep playing with character creation without assurances we're on a 20 point buy.

male Lich Azlanti Wizard/20 cyphermage/10 Diabolist/10

ok thanks

@ Run,just run .. yeah I have one we're waiting a couple days to hear from, and if I don't there are a couple others that have asked to join. Unlikely we will have a spot. Keep an eye on recruitment forum.

male Lich Azlanti Wizard/20 cyphermage/10 Diabolist/10

ok it's ok I came late.

@Merck - that works... healer that the captain has kept around ever since he lost a third of his crew to mosquito fever and "bootsoup"

thanks for the clarification of dual-cursed curses

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Gandal's magus crewgirl here.Only lacking equipment and languages.
For the background it is more or less the same i already summarized in my last post.
Are we going to start the AP right away or there will be a rp session aboard the jenivere first?

Shadow Lodge

Srry for all the spelling errors. English is not my first language and I usually post from my Ipad. Cant stop using the damn thing...

I will have my character up and running by monday when i get back home to my books.

@Gandal- looks good .. probably will spend a little bit of time on the ship first.

Dwarf Beast Rider Honor Guard (Cavalier) 3; AC 18/11/17; CMD 17; Saves +5/+2/+1 (+2 vs. pois., sp, sla); hp 28/31

So we have two "crewmates", one "boarded in Varisia" (although I'm actually only from Varisia; I boarded in Cheliax), one "boarded in Cheliax", and one stowaway (who boarded in Varisia). Sounds like we've got several weeks to get to know each other and the crew.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

What xp speed are we using?
I saw it can take a year to reach level one in pbp at least with medium speed. Not that i'm complaining but it is undoubtedly too long, especially when you have no way to know how much the game will last.
Some DM doesn't give xp at all, they just tell the PC when to level up at certain points.
So how does Bloodgargler handles xp rewards?

I'm planning on going faster than medium track... either fast or somewhere between the two. Mostly for the reasons you said.

I'm aiming for a switch hitter early but I'm planning on taking the two-handed combat style so if things work out I'll be in melee a decent amount. Not sure if Tol and I will be enough to fully cover melee, but I thought I should mention it in case it influences your build.

Cavalier is a dedicated melee, and between me and you as support close combat is no worry.

We seem to be lacking healing though.

Dwarf Beast Rider Honor Guard (Cavalier) 3; AC 18/11/17; CMD 17; Saves +5/+2/+1 (+2 vs. pois., sp, sla); hp 28/31

A life oracle is good enough healing for me.

Cavalier
Gunslinger
Ranger
Magus
Oracle

If anything is missing, it's someone to find the traps. I mean, someone other than me, by blundering into them. I would be willing to start the adventure as we are, though. Five should be enough. Do you think we'd be better off with a rogue, Bloodgargler?

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I never really read the oracle,so i apologize for my ignorance

certainly wouldn't hurt ... but I can't think of any place where you would be completely stymied without one.

Female Dwarf Gunslinger 5(Pistolero)

Could traps be triggered by, say, suspecting there's one there and either leading a foe into it to see what happens when they set it off or tossing a stone to set it off?

Dwarf Beast Rider Honor Guard (Cavalier) 3; AC 18/11/17; CMD 17; Saves +5/+2/+1 (+2 vs. pois., sp, sla); hp 28/31

Sure! Avoiding traps when you know they're there isn't so hard. It's knowing where to look that's the difficulty!

I favor smaller parties, so I think we should go as is unless J2112O reappears. I bow to the rest of the group if they'd prefer to have another, though.

I agree ...should be OK as is. I'll open up gameplay tomorrow night probably. If the group feels another is needed, I will recruit. There are a couple recruitment threads with ideal characters that I'm watching .. if the ones I'm looking at don't get in their games, I might try to lure one over - if another is needed.

Mugambi:

I've got a few options for benefit of Jeneviere Crew:Ship Doctor trait ...
option #1 +1 all fort saves

option #2 a gift of a medical book containing local diseases +1 saves vs disease, +2 heal checks involving disease. (diagnose and treat)

option #3 a straight +2 to heal all checks

this is if you would like to take that as a campaign trait... if you would rather take a different trait or have other ideas for the campaign trait, that's ok
Awesome avatar pic by the way.. character is looking good

EDIT: just saw you picked second trait .. so nevermind ;)

Oracle is like a specialized cleric. Life mystery is it's healing specialization path. They make great healbots but not much else, that's why later on (hopefully) I will pick up Rage Prophet PrC, so I can be a half decent melee combatant.

Just finished all the crunch for my character. Could you check if everything is ok DM Blood? Thx.
Will work on its backstory and post tonight later on.

While I do agree we have a solid group the player's guide to the AP did a pretty good job at freaking me out about traps. Also I have been lurking on the pbp forums for a while and saw a good number of games died because some of the players leave the group thanks to RL issues. Most games that i saw at least one or two players left in the middle of the adventure. I think if we had 6 players we would have a little more redundancy in case things goes south. I would vote for rogue or wiz/sorc, bard is also ok but we do already have some high CHA characters on the party (I am one of them :P)

@ Mugambi .. I think you get one more level 1 spell known .. oracles get "cure" spells added for free. Otherwise everything looks good.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I too think we could use a rogue. Also not sure if we have a main "face"

Mugambi, despite the mask, seems to currently be our best "face." +7 Diplomacy and +8 Bluff at level 1 is respectable. We are lacking Sense Motive; Gatherine seems like the best candidate.

However, if we are looking for trapfinding and face, then an Archaeologist would be just the thing, plus it fits the setting perfectly.

Female Dwarf Gunslinger 5(Pistolero)

"Ho ho!"Gatherine snickered to herself as she popped her head out of the barrel, pale golden brown eyes scanning the ship's hold.
She broke into a gleeful grin that bared square teeth like a slice of white in the gloom. She was aboard the merchant ship Jenevire, finally headed towards the distant and mysterious land of Sargava. And her first adventure!
So far she had managed to remain undetected by the ship's captain and crew and avoided suspicion. All she had to do was lay low until they reached Sargava...
Another snigger escaped her."If only that old pepper-beard could see me now!"

Tol leans on the port rail, gazing forlornly at the coastline of Rahadoum, slipping past in the distance. The wrong ship! How could I have gotten aboard the wrong ship! He shakes his head and sighs.

Sorry. A face pc is the character with the highest social skills usually

Somebody specialized on the social skills with a high CHA. I have two of them covered with my oracle, diplomacy and bluff. Other people have them also plus intimidate. I will never have a decent sense motive because of my low WIS. If its a class skill for you yours would probably be good with your high WIS.

Oracles are a spontaneous divine spellcaster based on CHA. Mine is currently 17, but i have crap for WIS.

Every party needs to have five body parts: face, hands, legs, heart, and belly. The hands grab the monsters, and feed them to the face, which chews them up. The face then passes them off to the belly, which converts them into loot and XP. Then the heart distributes the loot and XP, and the legs move the party to a new encounter. None of that is true, I'm just making things up.

Ninja'd. I still think my answer is best.

@Tol
Good morning chief, what a nice day! Hum? If da sea sickness still bothering ya just let me know. Got my herb tea ready for who need it, hum.

Offers Tol Cherthand a sip of his mug where a dark mixture exhale a vile smelling oddor.

Tol starts as the ship's doctor breaks his reverie.

Well, yes, I am feeling a bit-- Tol sniffs the brew and pauses.

Ugh, if I wasn't feeling sick already, I would be now.

-- a bit, uh, No. No, I'm feeling fine. Listen, I know I already asked the captain, but are you sure you haven't seen a dwarf girl on the ship? Boarded in Magnimar? About, uh, yea high?

The Mwagi shrugs his shoulders and take a satisfied gulp of his tea.

Sorry chief, cant say i have. Magnimar is big port, lots of taverns. Sailors see it and go crezy. Try to grab the womens, any women! Mugambi here spend da hole time fixing cracked skulls and busted noses. Almost didnt have da time to see da ruins. Impressive, old as da Mwagi, very powerfull. Ya gonna see some pretty good ones in Sargava too, but ours are bigger! Hehehe...

Dwarf Beast Rider Honor Guard (Cavalier) 3; AC 18/11/17; CMD 17; Saves +5/+2/+1 (+2 vs. pois., sp, sla); hp 28/31

Tol nods glumly. He is quiet for a few minutes, then slams his fist on the rail and bursts out:

It just doesn't make any sense! I heard from three different people, good, honest folk, that she boarded a ship headed to Sargava. One of them, a cousin of hers, swore he showed her to the dock personally. I even had it verified by a bloody fortune teller! But no-one on board has seen her!

He quiets down.

There must have been another ship...

Female Dwarf Gunslinger 5(Pistolero)

TNow I need to find a nice cup of hot cider and a hearty meal. That so-called cook is trying to starve me with that watery swill he claims to be soup. Can't trust a scrawny human to know how to feed himself properly...
Gatherine climbed out of the oaken barrel carefully, making nary a sound as her high heeled boots touched the floorboards and she replaced the lid.She made sure to nail it back into place and listened. She recognized the sounds of steady movement--footsteps,low murmur of conversation, and the sound of the sea lapping at the ship's belly.
The dwarf maid gave a languid stretch from being huddled in the barrel for more than a day.She gave the battered dragon pistol tucked between her ample bosom and corset.
And heeere we go...

Dorf

Poor Tol : ) Too bad for him Gatherine hung out with several halflings and humans growing up. They taught her a few things,to her older sister's exasperation. After all who suspects a proud dwarf to skulk in a barrel? O

...And it's just their bad influence that caused this whole mess!

I have a solution ... Mugambi ... face-man, convince mozartdminor to add trapper archetype to his guide. ("lead blades and gravity bow are overrated imho" .. something like that..)

I'm up for trying Trapper, actually. I was thinking of multiclassing into Horizon Walker eventually (if we make it far enough), but was hesitant because it would hurt my already lackluster casting as a ranger. Traps would give me a little more freedom in that sense, and make me more useful to the group. The only problem is the armor check penalty to disable device, but that should be manageable with a little care.

I'll go on and update that, and write in a brief back story for Averin tonight so he should be complete for tomorrow.

Does anyone have any requests for a teamwork feat? I was thinking Escape Route, Swap Places, Precise Strike...

(As a cavalier, Tol has the ability to grant any teamwork feat he knows to allies for a limited number of round per day. At first level, he gets one.)

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Since i'll be frequently at your side in melee Precise Strike is tempting

And il be hanging back shooting up the foe, ignoring armor and defense.
