I was looking at the "artifact" you can get but sadly never use to create a crystal instant tower and it got me thinking. What would life be like in a crystal building the sun will shine right through the walls into each room, you can see your neighbour getting changed in their room or look down through the floor to see the prisoners in the dungeon 3 levels below. Is a nice idea but the actual practicality would be a little less enjoyable I'd imagine, still I'm interested in what others think. If you had the gemstone that creates a crystal version of Daern's instant fortress would you ever actually use it given that the walls, floors and every piece of structure is made of clear, transparent crystal?

Regular castles have lots of rugs and wall hangings. Crystal ones can also.
For a castle the size of the instant fortress, I would expect it to be owned by a single wizard as a hidden place for research protected by the crystal. I do not see multiple families living there and ruling a country (or county). With no one to be hidden from, privacy is less needed. Alternatively, if you are a druid that is in animal form all the time, you won't care about privacy.
I think it would also be great to put on a mountain peak or even a cloud.

Just make sure not to throw stones.
Seriously though, is the crystal tower entirely transparent? Can it just be translucent, or fully opaque? If not, it could be possible to add some paintings, curtains, furniture, and rugs so that you'd have an easier time seeing out than people a few hundred feet outside would seeing in. So you could see people coming toward you, but even with a spyglass, they'd have a harder time figuring out which room you're in and how to get there. Furthermore, spells like Guards & Wards or similar could help with that.
