Have:
Mining Laser Upgrade (Starship Boon):
You have acquired the technical blueprints to modify one of the weapons onboard your ship into a mining laser.
Benefit: When this boon is slotted, select one light weapon onboard your starship. Replace this weapon with a mining laser (Starfinder Pact Worlds 153). This new weapon must go in the same arc as the replaced weapon.
Special: You do not need to worry about the PCU and BP difference between the original weapon and this weapon when slotting this boon.
[ooc]Please note: I won the boon at an online convention but have not received the boon electronically yet although I believe it should arrive soon.

Want: A PFS race boon, preferably Aasimar or Tiefling

I have a request. Does anyone have the following SFS Player Boons from GenCon?
I'd like to see the boon text on them! The boons that I am curious about are:
★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★
If they prove interesting, I have the following pieces of SFS tradebait for them:
3 Light Spore Torpedo Launcher (Starship Boon)
9 Free Agent (Faction Boon)
Or possibly an SFS Race Boon, if they are interesting enough. I have:
Ferran / Woikio
Draelik / Witchwyrd.

I'd like to see the boon text on them! The boons that I am curious about are:
SFS 2018 Boon 7: Inside Manufacturer (Social Boon)SFS 2018 Boon 8: Rabid Fanbase (Social Boon) SFS 2018 Boon 10: Possessed Augmentation (Personal Boon)
I got PMed the text of Boon 7 and Boon 10. Neither is sparking an immediate character idea, so I'm not trading for them at this time. All I need now is the text of Boon 8.
Thank you!

I am curious how this works, personally.
1) If I have a boon on a chronicle and I trade it for someone else's boon; do I cross it off the chronicle and write it on the back? Do we exchange images and print them off? Or is it a whole sheet trade?
2) Can one of my characters, a Dataphile, trade Dataphile specific boons(or any boons someone wants that he's offering) for Faction specific boons he doesn't otherwise qualify for(the big one being Capstone trading; Information Sharing <-> Rising Star e.g)
3) Linguist Boons mean if you have it, your characters can take that language. If all your characters have that language, can you still trade the boon?
Sorry, new to this whole thing XD

AtlasSniperman |

Chronicle sheet boons generally cannot be traded*. The types of boons people are trading are no XP no credit chronicle sheets that are JUST the boon.
* dataphiles have a tier 4 ability to trade those anyway, but only among your own characters.
Ah, fair enough. Where does one find the rules about this so I don't look like any more of an idiot?

Atlas --
Your confusion was understandable, and we all were new once. Don't worry about it!
I laid down some rules for Starfinder Boon trading at the very beginning of this thread, but of course they say nothing about how earned boons (the ones off scenario chronicles) cannot be traded.
Some of these things have been clarified in obscure posts by campaign leadership long ago, and we all remember them, but I don't think there is any one place that codifies them.
So...
UNTRADEABLE BOONS
* Anything earned off a scenario chronicle.
* RSP GM Boons (at least for the first 12 slots that must be 'earned' by you for one of your own characters.) You can likely trade off the 24 games reward that allows you to gift a friend.
* The Alien Archive Player Boon, which must be earned for one of your own characters.
* Survey boons, again earned for you alone.
TRADEABLE BOONS
* GM Race Boons from Conventions
* Player Boons from Conventions
* GM Minor Faction Boons from Conventions -- aka 'Manifold Host' and future boons like it!
There may be other types of items, but I believe that those are the main considerations!

AtlasSniperman |

BTW, was there something specific you were looking for?
Hmm
Thanks for that extra detail Hmm. Sadly, given those rules it looks like probably not. The only boon my main is actively wanting is the capstone for Second Seekers(luwazi elsebo) "Rising Star" despite him being a Dataphile. So I guess not :P

![]() ![]() ![]() |

Also, at a certain point you may find yourself adding a second faction that you have significant reputation in. SS(LE) is actually fairly easy to do this with. You just have to play one specific scenario. My main is tier 3 wayfinder, tier 1 SS(LE), just by slotting Second Seekers for the majority of the Scoured Stars sequence. Once I get my Ghibrani, I'll be focusing on Second Seekers.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

1) spend 2 fame buy a membership card for second seekers LE (you can do this at the start of your next adventure)
2) Play 2 or three scenarios to get your rep up to 1, which is tier one. At the end of the last one buy the instructor boon for 2 fame. You only need 1 Second seekers mission to make it 2 games.
3) Go back to datafiles
4) Just slot the social boon instructor and forgo your dayjob (the amount of money you earn is really tiny anyway)

Thank you, Michael. Let me know if you need text for any boons. I have Haul-a-Bot, Mystical Systems Upgrade, Free Agent, Light Spore Torpedo and Alien Allies from GenCon.

Thanks! I need the text for Free Agent and Alien Associates.
I'm also in the market for a verthani boon. I'll post what I have for trade when I can access my boons.

I was rooting around in my paperwork last night and found a verthani boon from a convention earlier this year, so nevermind!

Kalo are legal with the proper boon, and yes, the boon is tradeable. The Kalo / Verthani boon is a GM boon from this year. I kept hoping it would show up at a Minnesota convention. We never saw it come to our region, alas. But it's around, and you can trade for it!
Hmm

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Ah shoot. Copaxi are from a scenario chronicle, and thus not tradeable. I specified untradeable vs tradeable boons in an earlier post in this thread.
But... Tell me about the PC you want to build. Who are they? What are they like? If you simply want an aquatic race, I do have a Woioko boon that I would be happy to gift to you if you would like it. It would require owning Book 2 of Dead Suns to use it, but you could pick that up in PDF.
I can post more details on Woioko here, if you would like.
Hmm

Woioko are listed in the alien archives section of Dead Suns Book 2: Temple of the Twelve, p. 60. I think they're an interesting race.
WOIOKO RACIAL TRAITS
Ability Adjustments: See Subspecies. Hit Points: 4
Size and Type: Woiokos are Medium humanoids with the woioko subtype. Deepborn woiokos also gain the aquatic subtype.
Amphibious: Deepborn woiokos can breathe underwater (thanks to the aquatic subtype), but they can also breathe air and survive on land.
Hold Breath: Hold Breath (Ex) A Floatborn woioko can hold her breath for 10 minutes before she risks drowning.
Low-Light Vision: All woiokos can see in dim light as if it were normal light.
Multinational: To navigate the ever-shifting waters of alliances and enmities between the scattered Floatborn nations and arcologies, Floatborn woiokos must be skilled at dealing with those from different backgrounds; they receive a +2 racial bonus to Culture and Diplomacy checks.
Natural Swimmer: All woiokos are at home in the water and have a swim speed of 30 feet.
Slippery Mind (Ex): The first time a woioko fails her saving throw against an enchantment spell or effect, she can attempt a second saving throw 1 round later.
Subspecies: Woiokos belong to one of two subspecies: Deepborn or Floatborn. All woiokos start with +2 Charisma and –2 Constitution at character creation. Additionally, Deepborn woiokos are athletic and powerful (+2 Strength), while Floatborn woiokos are lithe and more graceful (+2 Dexterity).
★--- ★ --- ★ --- ★
Inhabitants of the ocean planet Heicoron IV (Starfinder Adventure Path #1 62), woiokos are humanoids who have smooth, eellike skin. They evolved from underwater-dwelling ancestors, but more recently they split into two subspecies when rising sea levels destroyed their terrestrial civilization. The air-breathing Floatborn remained above the waves and now reside in vast floating arcologies divided into dozens of autonomous nations. The Deepborn genetically modified themselves to breathe water as well as air and returned to their primeval homes deep in the ocean, where short-lived domains constantly vie for dominance. The two subspecies have little contact with one another, each remaining in its preferred environment.

You won't. I'll be gifting it to you, outright. Happy Holidays.
However, if you take it, you have to promise me to make an awesome character out of it. Send me a Pm with your email and your Organized Play number, and we'll work out something. Do you mind receiving a digital copy of the boon? I received mine digitally, so that will be easier for me.

As is my tradition with this thread, I mention new upcoming boons. The mega-region boons are shifting! I have no idea what the mega-region boons are for the in-person regions, but we have a new one coming to online play this year:
Dragonkin Heritage (Personal Boon): You belong to a species known to have a strong and growing presence within the Starfinder Society. The dragonkin of Triaxus trace their lineage to the true dragons of the Pact Worlds. Many dragonkin operate as mercenaries and join the Skyfire Legion or other prominent mercenary outfits. Dragonkin are renowned for their ability to bond with a non-dragonkin partner, most typically ryphorians. Intimidating and stoic to strangers, dragonkin are also renowned for being obsessively loyal and gregariously fun to their closest companions.
You may play a character of an uncommon race—dragonkin (Starfinder Alien Archive page 40)—beginning at level 1 as normal. Other than access to this additional race, all character creation rules are the same as those outlined in the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide. This Chronicle sheet must be the first Chronicle sheet for the given character, and you must bring a copy of Starfinder Alien Archive all sessions in which you play this character as if access to this race selection were granted by the Additional Resources list.
Special—When you create a character with this boon, you must select another player’s character for form your partner bond with. Mark down that character’s Organized Play #. If that character is permanently slain, then you can choose to select a new partner bond by marking a new Organized Play # on this sheet between sessions.
Planar Scion: Aasimar/Tiefling Heritage (Personal Boon): You belong to a species known to have a strong and growing presence within the Starfinder Society. Your heritage means that a celestial or fiendish influence once touched your bloodline and that you are the direct manifestation of that event. Aasimars are those born under celestial influences who’ve learned to channel their heritage into bursts of light. Tieflings have the blood of fiends in their veins and can conjure forth areas of gloom. Both maintain natural resistances and minor physical traits that display their bloodline for all to see.
You may play a character of an uncommon race—an aasimar or tiefling planar scion (Starfinder Alien Archive 2 page 98)—beginning at level 1 as normal. Other than access to this additional race, all character creation rules are the same as those outlined in the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide. This Chronicle sheet must be the first Chronicle sheet for the given character, and you must bring a copy of Starfinder Alien Archive 2 all sessions in which you play this character as if access to this race selection were granted by the Additional Resources list.

Planar Scions are more balanced in Starfinder than they were in Pathfinder. And with all the planes shifting around or having pieces getting ripped from them by Drift travel, this just makes sense. I really want to see a Planar Scion sometime that is adapted to the Drift Plane. Ooh, can you say 'cargo cult'?
Hmm

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I can agree with that statement but only just barely. In Starfinder, their resistance 5 to 3 different elements is quite powerful. The Tiefling's stat mods and resistance 5 fire (on top of the other resistances) is going to easily make it one of the top races, if not the top. I will admit, I believe most of my distaste is from PFS.

Flutters gudie to branching out, playing PFS online
(SFS is close enough system wise that there's not enough difference to warrant a new guide for this)

"That's a guide to Virtual Table-Top (VTT). It's a great guide, because the wolf wrote it." Charli, a little hot-pink gnome, comes in and pets the wolf. "But Jordan, you should also know that there is another form of Online Play called Play-by-Post (PBP) that happens on message boards."
The gnome pulls a number of teas out of a transport container. "I have Akiton Red, Brethedan Bubble, and Castrovellian Contemplation. What will you have?" The Akiton Red smells bold and earthy, with overtones of cinnamon, while the Contemplation smells more minty. As for the Brethedan Bubble -- well, it looks a bit like a lava lamp in which someone inserted a straw. She hands you your choice of tea, and continues her lesson.
"In PBP, I can leap into action!" Charli turns and shoots at an ambushing goblin...
Pew Pew: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Sonic Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
...leaving a smoking hole behind.
Then she reflects a moment. It sure looks weird seeing those dice rolls. "Or I can get all contemplative, and let you into my head. The difference between a live game and a Play-by-Post is kind of like the difference between a movie and reading the book. Both are great storylines, but the PBP is slower, richer, and more detailed, with lots of opportunity for role play."
TL/DR: Online play can be done in two very different ways. Both are worth trying.
