Archtype bans.

Pathfinder Society

Grand Lodge 4/5

One of my players started playing a Seducer Witch archtype. We just learned that it was recently banned in Additional Rules. Can she still play the class or does she need to reroll?

Is this for Pathfinder Society play?

If yes, then I imagine PFS has rules for how to handle characters of banned builds, and I imagine this should go in the PFS forum.

If no, then PFS's ban on the archetype is irrelevant for your game.

If you're worried about power for a home game, the reason it's banned in PFS (presumably) is due to the sexual nature, difficult to rule subjective abilities of attraction and it's connection to The Green Mother.

For PFS you'd need to reroll.

PFS has an extensive ban list that home games can ignore completely. (which I usually do)

If it is for PFS like Chess said they need to reroll.

Would that be a free rebuild then?

Also for PFS, nothing is legal until the book has been added to additional resources and it's said to be legal. So if for PFS the character has been illegal it's entire existence.

In PFS, that archetype wasn't banned, exactly. It was never made legal. PFS PCs shouldn't have had the archetype to begin with, and they would have been illegal from the first seducer level.

EDIT: ninja'd

PFS bans things for both diagetic (i.e. the Pathfinder society is simply not willing to let certain people into its ranks) and non-diagetic (e.g. balance or PFS doesn't use crafting) reasons.

In your own game, you have to make your own calls but the calls made by others need have no bearing on what you decide. There's a lot of really fun stuff that's not allowed in PFS, so I wouldn't recommend just blindly following their rules if you don't have to.

Looking at it it was almost certainly banned purely because it's features clearly mention the idea of gaining benefits against someone the character has slept with. A family friendly decision.

Mechanically there is nothing about the archetype that is particularly strong. If everyone in your group is ok with sex then go for it.

Of course it doesn't need to be like that scene in community where you go into graphic detail.

Removed a post. Suggesting physical appearance of women players as a prerequisite for in-game play is really inappropriate.
