I'm going slightly mad

General Discussion

Is anyone else going nuts waiting for Starfinder to hit the streets? I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!

As one of the GenCon GMs, I feel like one of Santa's gnomes! Which is good, because I'm short enough to be one.

Hmm

Hmm

Santa uses Elves; Gnome toys pose too great a choking hazard. :D

The problem is, while they are called "elves," they don't act, look, or have the abilities of elves.

Or late 20th geek-culture tabletop games do elves wrong (because Tolkien), and older mythology more closely related to the even older myths of elves is more correct.

Norse elves and the like would be more recognizable as dwarves.

This is a Science Fantasy Game! Santa uses Neptunians! Poor underfed Neptunians slaves.

Truth. Tolkien's elves are much closer to the Celtic aes sídhe.

Silly people! Can you imagine prissy elves wearing the belled uniform with the pointy hats, working late hours, making toys for children and then shoveling reindeer poop while talking to each and every reindeer in its own tongue? Us gnomes went in under an assumed identity because it made the elves so upset!

Behold the wonders of the gnomish propaganda machine!*

I am, too. I preordered and cannot wait to get my grubby mitts on it.

Not going to lie, it's a pretty awesome book.

Silly Voss, Tolkien's books are the one true fantasy and everything preceding him is a blatant travesty, nay, a plethora of blatant travesties.

Yeah. Mine was one of the really early orders, sent super-fast mail.

I have a dreadful feeling it's been held up in customs. I had that happen once before with a GenCon month and it didn't get sorted out until after I received that year's September shipment.

I was really careful with the dollar value this time around, so it's under our $ limit and shouldn't have been held. I just have this sinking feeling it's going to take a few weeks to explain to customs that I don't owe anything. :(

While dwarves are a type of elf in the Norse myths, Ive always seen the alfar depicted a bit more like the Aos Si.

Yes, yes, all of the yes. I keep checking my emails waiting for my shipping confirmation, hoping it comes soon.

I want to write content for Starfinder, so yes. I'm going a bit (more) nuts waiting for it to come out.

What drives me really nuts is that people all around are already having their copies while I still have to wait for another friggin week

After seeing all these people get their books early by ordering from paizo I feel like I'm dying waiting to pick up the book from my local game store. The 17th can't come soon enough.

Grand Lodge

i jump at every email only to find disappointment that i have not yet got my shipping confirmation.

My order shipped on Monday and i have the digital download up on my computer at home... but life is so hectic right now that i've only gotten as far as that sweet art with the dwarf wielding a glowing blue battle axe and laser/light shield against a power armored, Doshko wielding Vesk. Page like, 8 maybe? that's really irking me right now. madness might come later if i cant find time to read it. (also involved in family life, learning 40k 8th ed. and a massive six week training thing for work; gaming is on a far back burner atm)

I'm just hoping to get my hardcover before flying to GenCon. Getting some signatures on the copy would be pretty boss.

All "one order pending" and no Starfinder makes Captain Yesterday go something, something.

Might actually get a copy of this one (as opposed to stealing off the SRD).

Probably going to be doing some Frankensteining to let some of the Pathfinder 3rd party I don't want to let go fit into the game.

Maybe not so much any more: this post makes it feel like much more of a resource game. Hate that.
