Storyteller Shadow's Multi-Game Recruitment V

Recruitment

201 to 250 of 297 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | next > last >>

Been pretty beat all day and fell asleep for a chunk of time before I woke up tonight as well.

I'll get to the PMed questions tomorrow. ;-)

Remember, Gameplay won't start for a good 2-3 weeks so no major rush here.

I swear Shadow, if you don't get to my PM tomorrow, I'm gonna bomb a small country, and their blood will be on your hands!!

Monkeygod wrote:

Hmmm, blood on my hands?

Intoxicating... PM's on Monday!

We must sacrifice Monkeygod, take the one that wronged you!

Strike him down!

Thou shalt not rush the DM, for it brings only misfortune!

I'm just impatient cuz I can't even start my character till I hear back from Shadow.

Well you can get some baseline crunch. I have a good skeleton, still waiting on details. However I can understand where you're coming from.

Hatred Domain:

1st Channel Hate(Su): As a free action, choose one opponent. Against that opponent you gain a +2 profane bonus on attack rolls, saving throws and AC. This ability last for 1 round and is usable 3x per day + 1x for each point in Charisma score modifier.

8th: Hateful Aura (Su): At 8th level, you can emit a 30-foot aura of hatred for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. These rounds need not be consecutive. Enemies within this aura must attempt a Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier). Characters who fail their save are filled with hatred, and cannot consider other characters allies for the purpose of any actions or use any teamwork feats. The effect ends immediately if the creature leaves the aura, you end the aura as a free action, or you expend all rounds of this ability.

1st level: Doom
2nd level: Scare
3rd level: Bestow Curse
4th level: Song of Discord
5th level: Righteous Might
6th level: Forbiddance
7th level: Blasphemy
8th level: Antipathy
9th level: Wail of the Banshee

Sand Domain:

1st: Weather's Storm Burst: As a standard action, you can create a storm burst targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The storm burst deals 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + 1 point for every two cleric levels you possess. In addition, the target is buffeted by winds and rain, causing it to take a –2 penalty on attack rolls for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

8th: Living Sand (Su): Once per day, you can shape a small amount of sand into any solid object you can imagine, up to 8 cubic feet in volume. You can shape one object or several, up to a number equal to your Wisdom bonus, as long as the total volume does not exceed 8 cubic feet.

You must make a special Wisdom check (d20 + your Wis modifier + 1/2 your cleric level) against a DC determined by the size and complexity of the item. The item to be created has a base DC of 5, plus the modifiers on the table below

Item Complexity Modifier
Fine details +2
Functioning tool +2
Functioning armor/weapon +5
Multiple parts +5
Masterwork version +10
Moving parts +10

Each attempt to create an item requires a number of minutes equal to its DC. You can take 10 or take 20 on this check. Created items persist for 1 minute per cleric level, and can only be solid objects. The objects created have no magical properties, though they radiate faint transmutation magic.

All items created in this fashion have hardness 5 and hit points as follows Fine 1, Diminutive 2, Tiny 3, Small 5, Medium 8, large 10.

1 - Waste Strider

2 - Black Sand

3 - Haboob

4 - Blast of Sand

5 - Flaywind Burst

6 - Awaken Sand

7 - Vitrify

8 - Desert Binding

9 - Summon Desert Ally IX

May have to convert some of those spells but as we have time, I'll do it as needed.

Thirst Domain:

1st: Command Liquid Foe(Sa): Rebuke or command oozes as an evil cleric rebukes or commands undead. Use this ability a total number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier. You also gain a +2 bonus on Constitution checks to resist dehydration.

8th: Air of Dessication (Su): As a standard action, you can pull the water from any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The dessication deals 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + 1 point for every two cleric levels you possess. In addition, due to the severe parchment, attempting to cast a spell with a verbal component requires a concentration check as if they were affected by a non-damaging spell. This effect last until they quench their thirst. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

1 - Parching Touch

2 - Dessicate

3 - Tormenting Thirst

4 - Dispel Water

5 - Dessicate, Mass

6 - Symbol of Thirst

7 - Mephit Mob

8 - Horrid Wilting

9 - Energy Drain

Dark Archive

Whelp, here's that Red Wizard Apprentice I made ^-^ she's all rounded out, and I hope you don't mind I picked a Wayfinder as her one magic item. She has alot of scrolls from her regional equipment and also because I bought alot.

I'm working with Shadow on converting Tyranny and Hatred into blessings, this is what I have for Hatred so far:

Minor: favored enemy vs one target for 1 round(minute)

Major: bane vs target for 1 minute.

No clue about Tyranny.

Thanks for the domains Storyteller, I will be working on his backstory from here on out.

We don't get regional equipment.

Still waiting on my PM, but it seems their is a line. Can I get a number? xP

Did not realize I did not respond to you...sorry about that!

Omni:
I am ok with the Zhent Skymage, generally I convert my own stuff but I am fine with what you did here, but post it here so its easy to find. I believe that Pathfinder already has an Archmage PRC in the Core Book...

I have 3 PMs in the cue right now:

(2) from Teiidae and (1) from Vladislak. If I missed something or did not respond to something, let me know.

I'll try to get to them this week, need to get back to work ATM...

No problem Storyteller Shadow, you got alot on your plate.

Add one more PM to that, just sent you one. Don't worry it's short.

Are you alright with someone using Divine metamagic from complete divine?
There are a few feats from elder evil and book of vile darkest I'd like to take and are pretty fitting to my character idea.

Which ones are you thinking?

Hmmm, you are right, this is what happens when you get old, conflate stuff together ;-)

However, as we ARE doing Mythic Tiers, I think I'll keep that particular class Mythic.

Storyteller Shadow wrote:

BoVD: Malign Spell Focus

Elder Evils: Apostate(the idea is he has a hatred for a specific Pantheon), Evil brand and or Willing deformity.

Complete Divine: Divine metamagic and Corrupt spell.

These were some feats I was playing around with, I like the idea of playing a prophet that delves in the forbidden lore and the dark arts.

It happens to everyone Storyteller Shadow.

DM:

Can we just change the name to Grandmage or something?

Pathfinder's mythic class and the 3e class share the same name but that does not make them the same class or share the same abilities. Much like in 3e their are classes of the same name but a normal version and epic version. I am no expert on mythic, only played it in one game and as a champion, but generally mythic is far and away superior to any prestige class in pathfinder or 3e. At least concerning melee in my experience. It is a high prestige class at that, can only be taken at high levels due to requirements. In this case 14th at the earliest which really only makes it usable for games going to 20th level as it's not worth the investment otherwise in my opinion.

Just an FYI I will be taking 2 DM board breaks in the month of July:

1. July 2 through July 4 and
2. July 8 through July 11.

During this time I will be working on plot for some of the Campaigns as well as updating Campaign Information tabs for all Campaigns.

---

Based on this fact, this particular game will start a bit later in July than I anticipated, on the 12th instead of the 6th.

I will be responding to open PMs once more this weekend as work was nuts once again this week and limited my time on the boards.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

LOL. I'm going on a trip starting July 12 (through the 16th). If I get in though, I can hopefully check in on my phone.

Hey storyteller you mentioned something before and I was curious about it.
You said this game might takes place in your Non-Canon FR, if you don't mind me asking what's different about it compared to the canon setting? Aside from the spell plague, anything you can mention without spoiling your future game?

DeathQuaker wrote:

Don't worry, the first few days will be a slow burn ;-)

Either they will be significant spoilers or simply not applicable to the campaign.

For example - Halaster's High Harvestide took place right AFTER the Time of Troubles in Waterdeep not many years later.

Lord Piergeiron the Paladinson stepped down as the Open Lord of Waterdeep in the Year 1367 for a Half-Elf Paladin of Selune named Thalos of Neverwiner who was one of the Heroes that saved the city of Waterdeep from Myrkul at the end of the Time of Troubles.

etc. etc. ;_0

Lying bastard!

No PM's this weekend, long week and effected me this weekend. I had zero brain power on Friday night and went to bed early last night.

However, as most of the PMs involve PRC conversions and we are starting at level 0 I don't think it's the worst thing that they are not done yet!

I am still interested in submitting a tank/bruiser, but things have been busy. I will get a character sheet and background ready in the next few days.

That's pretty neat, The Twisted Rune acted while there was still confusion after the gods reeked havoc on Toril. I find it interesting, should we find ourselves playing in your world would you have us alter our backstories to coincide with the events of your world? That is should our characters come from an area that you changed?

Exactly, THEY were still Liches and he was a crazy old man with unreliable magic. Granted if they were destroyed there was no guarantee that the phylactery would work correctly but great risk can equal great reward.

No, I never changed anything pre ToT ;-)

True, I'd even say during the ToT would make sense. Could of used their paralytic touch to subdue him rather than magic, luck and planning.

By chance if I were to get in, could I try anyways to make my own faction of undead that lurk the Anauroch kinda like the Twisted Rune? I mean the Blackroad is important to Zhent, it could use some undying protection.
I would be loyal to Zhent nonetheless. *shifted eyes.*

Oh man, I felt Halaster's death was so anticlimactic considering who he was and his mastery of magic. Even insane he was a genius of massive cunning and ability, makes you shudder to think of him being sane. They only managed to catch him after all with wish magic and paid for it in more ways then one. Anyways seeing as magic was loopy during ToT I doubt the twisted rune was in better shape then anyone else. Makes sense for them to be somewhat ready before trying anything on him.

Well they're still a league of powerful liches and dracoliches. While weakened because of the damaged weave, they still have a few frightening non magical abilities, aura of fear, paralysis and being nearly indestructible as undead.

I could see the case for either during or after ToT. Also doesn't Halaster have some of his insanity cured? I remember reading that from Elminster in Hell.

If I remember right, Halaster got his insanity cured a little bit by Mystra herself. In exchange for trying to go into hell to save Elminster. Seeing as a goddess was unable to fully cure his magical madness and asked him personally to go into hell, I still say their is a very good reason why the twisted rune did not mess with him sooner and regretted it ever after. ;P

Also if I remember right, the Blackstaff helped Halaster get some revenge on one of the two members of the twisted rune that kidnapped him. That lich's soul box and him ended up in his tender hands, to their horror. Love it when a mortal has the stuff to make an undead monster wet themselves. xD

How much a personal background do we need? As we're level 0, I'm thinking more of a family type history makes more sense.

Monkeygod wrote:

Yes.

Also a description of what Region you are from and why (if you want to START) in Zhentil Keep, you journeyed there.

I am fine with PCs starting in their Regions and then traveling to Zhentil Keep. I can pretty much work with anything ;-)

Shadow,

Do you think you can give us a little more info on this game, aside from we're evil and hanging around Zhentil Keep?

I have some plans on trying to expand the reach of the Black Network, but am curious about the overall scope and themes of the game.

Not really without giving too much away. PCs will have an opportunity to join Bane's Church and the Black Network.

The game begins in 1357 by 5th level, the year will be 1372. So while you start in Zhentil Keep but you travel significantly by 5th level....

Bane's Church of course becomes Cyric's Church :-)

Here is the submission for Tanner Nielsen. Please let me know if you have any feedback!

Majarian "Mawj" Whitesmith
LE Human Male Warrior ----> Warlord, primarily Black Seraph maneuvers

Description:

Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Length: 6'3"
Weight: 200lb

You see a man clad in chainshirt armor and a greatsword in a scabbard at his shoulder. He is of Illuskan descent with walnut brown hair tightly gathered in a ponytail. His eyes are the color of the sky, with small flecks of silver near the iris. His skin is fair with small freckles on his nose and cheek bones. He is quite tall, with a solid frame and straight posture.

Background:

Majarian originally hails from Marsember, the largest coastal trading city in Cormyr. He was born to a humble family living in tenement housing on the banks of the Starwater River. His father was a day laborer and his mother a washerwoman who struggled to put food on the table every day for the hungry mouths of their children. Lacking the money for schooling or an apprenticeship, Ilya spent most of his childhood roaming about the streets and canals of the city, trying to earn money with odd jobs, begging, or scavenging. Though his family was proud and loving, Majarian grew resentful and bitter at their station in society. He was not content to eke through life. He was determined to have more -- and when he could stand no more, he sought out work with a local gang.

Unbeknownst to his family, Majarian became a street soldier for a Sembian smuggling operation. They put his size and strength to use as a debt collector, sending him to punish merchants who squelched on their payments. At first he blanched at the work, finding the task of brutalizing crying, begging men to be distasteful. Especially the women. But with time his conscience became calloused. Within a few seasons he no longer hesitated in using his fists or knives or clubs to accomplish his work. The screams of the fat merchants were distant and dull in his ears. Every night he went home to be with the family he loved, leaving his brutal-mask at the door. His family had more food, better clothes, and firewood every night. He was starting to save money. He would take care of his parents in their old age so they did not work themselves to death. That was all that mattered... Until one of those fat merchants followed him home.

The fire was swift and deadly. The family was asleep, and Majarian did not wake until the home was already filled with flames and smoke. In the mad rush of families attempting to escape the tenements, not everyone made it out alive. His mother and two sisters were dead. He heard their screams, and then their silence. His father and brother could only stare in horror at their burning home. As the flames lit the night, something was born inside Majarian. Something dark and terrible.

He knew who was responsible. He watched and waited. He took the fat merchant from a darkened alley to an abandoned barn in the countryside, and for a day and a half he did everything his mind could think of to hurt him. When the man finally succumbed, Majarian slumped to the floor, exhausted and spent. He looked at his hands, covered in blood from the fingertips to the elbow. He made a fist... and the blood almost looked like a gauntlet surrounding his hand. He fell asleep, and dreamed a dream.

A dark, armored figure visited him. The figure spoke with terrible majesty, and overwhelmed Majarian even though he knew it was a dream. The figure told him that he was ready, that his heart was prepared for service to Bane. In return for his loyalty, he would have the power to ensure that no one could ever hurt him or his family again. He was ordered to travel to Zhentil Keep, and to present himself for service.

Majarian awoke and returned home without hesitation. He bid his father and brother goodbye, promising that he would write and send them money, and went to the docks to find a ship. With his savings he purchased armor and a sword, fashioned a crude holy symbol out of an old horseshoe, and set off. The vision still burned in his mind. He had a calling and a purpose. He would know glory and success through service to Bane, and be able to protect his remaining family. He was willing to do anything -- anything -- to protect them.

After an uneventful voyage across the Moonsea, Majarian stepped off the boat at the docks of Zhentil Keep. He made his way to the nearest market to ask how to find his way to the castle....

I'm gonna have to pull my submission. Too many irons in the fire right now. Best of luck with it!

Working over my backstory. It's the only thing I've got left.

Is the rich parents trait allowed?

Edit: Are we considered level one for the purpose of the human 'skilled' and 'bonus feat' racial traits? Or do we have to actually level up to benefit from them?

Edit pt2: Any chance you'll allow the original heirloom weapon trait? It gave you a masterwork weapon, and a +1 trait bonus to attack, but only with that specific weapon.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Just a reminder but we start out at level 0 making us all teenagers of our respective races. Humans start at 15 or 16. Elves at 113, 115, and 119 respectively based on class. Dwarves at 42, 44, and 46. The half elves at 20, 21, and 22. To name a few examples, we will all be full of angst and shenanigans galore. ;P

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

Well, you could be really old and have forgotten all your tricks.

Or maybe you were like stuck in a bubble for 20 years and couldn't earn any experience.

Yeah that would have to be a very well written backstory to make sense, in my opinion. As anyone of note would have equally noteworthy enemies to take advantage and if your not of note then how are you not dead by being drained below 1st level. As for stasis, that's more time passing then actual aging, wouldn't be the first time in the realms.

Just looking at it now, Monkeygod and my character going to be very similar in the beginning and are very soon going to have nothing but a burning hatred for each other.

Also Omni, I think William also made a Thayan apprentice.

All. Due to a general reduction in interest outside of the 8 proposed submissions, I believe I should close Recruitment now. I will accept all 8 submissions and begin to craft the story this weekend and next weekend with my downtime from the boards so by mid-July we can get the game rolling.

Any objections?

I suggest we get a roll call first as some have not posted in a while. Also confirm what everyone is playing as.

My idea and alias remains unchanged. I may add to my backstory to detail his time in Zhentil Keep a little more.
