Craziest Animal Companion you can get?

Advice

For instance, an Aasimar with Scion of Humanity and Racial Heritage (Dhampir) or a Human with Racial Heritage (Aasimar) who becomes a Vampire can take Celestial Servant and Vampiric Companion. A Human who has Racial Heritage (Aasimar) and becomes a Ghoul can instead take Celestial Servant and Corpse Companion.

You could be a Primal Companion Hunter, while making all of your feats be Evolved Companion.

There's the Mammoth Rider prestige class.

A Nature or Mammoth Spirit Shaman's Spirit Animal also functions as an Animal Companion at 16th level. Unclear how this works if you already had an AC from a different class before reaching that level.

Not crazy, but you could be a Sylvan Bloodline Sorcerer with Boon Companion, who then gets a Robe of Arcane Heritage, bringing your AC to 4 levels above you.

If it was a dog, a small cat, a bird, or a horse, and you're Human or Aasimar with Scion of Humanity, you can take Huntmaster to raise it another level.

Anything else that can work for getting a crazy Animal Companion that I don't know about?

Take a wild caller summoner and call the result an animal companion.

A barbarian with the ferocious mount & similar rage powers can share all kinds of odd powers with their mount. They can get either the mounted fury archetype or an animal companion by feats, or just buy some trained monster to ride by the rules.

A courtly hunter can get a weirdly skilled and intelligent animal companion. A verminous hunter gets a giant insect and a slightly different list of animal focuses. The planar focus feat adds a bunch of odd options to any hunter's animal focus.

A devolutionist must choose a devolved humanoid as a companion. So you can have a feral elf or human as a companion!

There's the Beast Rider feat for 1/2 orcs & orcs, it can be used with the Gorthek I think its called from Monster Codex.

There's also the feats Spirits Gift and Totem Beast that can boost your companion.

There's a few things in Mythic rules as well.

An animal companion with an intelligence of 3 or more can take Possessed Hand, Hands Autonomy, and Hands Detachment feats provided of course they have hands. There's also some feats that allow you gain a familiar too. I think they were in Familiar Folio.

There's also Monstrous Mount and Monstrous Cohort.

There might be a way for your companion to have class levels and then it could get its own companion And familiar.

Erastils Evangelist boon can kinda clone/duplicate your companionfor a time.

Dear god. I just realized, an Animal Companion with a high enough int can take any feat and put skill ranks in any skills. Meaning they can take Nature Soul>Animal Ally>Boon Companion. Also Eldritch Heritage (Arcane) for a Familiar. Or Familiar Bond>Improved Familiar Bond. I may get a book thrown at me with this exploit.

Using the Animal Totem Tattoo from magical marketplace you can add the Eagle Shaman natural attacks on an AC giving them a bite and talons, plus Evolved Companion for claws you can get 6 attacks on any of the big gore users.
Or instead of Evolved you can go the Barbarian archetype and get the claws from animal rage.

Yes

A book like the core rule book. It's thick, heavy, and clearly defines what "character level" means for people that take animal ally

Expanding on the last line of Eigengrau's comment:

Evangelist of Erastil can get an exact double of the animal companion for the 2nd divine boon for rounds per hit die (twin fang).

Now this is pretty potent tool in itself... but if you went for hunter/sacred huntsmaster build this double now has all these teamwork feats and can tandem wreck face with the original animal companion for a couple of rounds of supernova while you hang back and cast spells...
