Legendary Planet - Looking for replacement player

Recruitment

LINK TO ORIGINAL RECRUITMENT

One of the folks had to drop out, and I am recruiting a new player. The group is at a point where a new character would be quite easy to bring in.

Currently the party consists of:
Male Human Druid
Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager)
Male Human Bard
Male Human Ranger (Guide)

There is currently an NPC Sorcerer and Robot. Both of whom will be leaving the party shortly, so the above is the group.

Please provide the following information in your request to join:
A complete character sheet for a third level character, including description, personality, history, look ahead. No need for an alias yet. Only the selected characters will be required to set one up.

This PbP will be based on Legendary Games Legendary Planet AP, a Sword and Planet adventure.

Recruitment ends on Thursday, June 15th.

Character Creation Guidelines
20 point character buy. All scores 10 or greater after racial adjustments.
Allowed sources:
Paizo:
CRB - Core Rulebook
APG – Advanced Player Guide
Drop Dead Studios:
SoP – Spheres of Power
Races allowed: Core Rule Book only.
Classes allowed: All from the above books, except NO cavaliers.
One Basic, Race, Regional or Religion trait from the APG, ask first (no Adopted, nor Rich Parents, nor some others). You will be able to select a Campaign trait from the Players Guide for this AP during Chapter 1, ie. after the Prequel.
250 gp.
Maximum hit points all levels.
Alignment. LG, NG preferred. CG, LN, TN, CN acceptable. NO Evil.
Excepts from the Legendary Planets Players Guide:
1. Character Focus: The environment and situations the PCs will encounter will likely change many times over the course of the interplanetary story line. So, focusing intensely on a single aspect or creating a “one trick pony” with an affinity for a single terrain or culture may not work as well as focusing on a character’s versatility and adaptability.
2. Skills: These adventures necessitate that characters overcome both the physical and mental challenges imposed by entirely new worlds, technologies, and adversaries. Thus, spending skill ranks on skills which aid in exploration, such as Climb, Perception, Survival, and Swim, will provide ample opportunities for a PC to shine. Similarly, social skills will prove an absolute must in interacting with other cultures—either by placating them, winning them over to the PCs’ cause, or perhaps just aggravating and stymieing them on the battlefield in order to impress or inspire potential allies. Knowledge skills involving arcana, dungeoneering, engineering, and even geography will provide important, relevant information regardless of where these adventures take the PCs. And, in some cases, they may prove vital in solving various mysteries and opposing certain enemies. Also, as you will be traveling to alien places with different “common” tongues, it behooves you that one or more party members invest in Linguistics.
At the beginning of Chapter 1 ”To Worlds Unknown” the PCs have the possibility to “change their characters race”, here are the new playable races, with a picture and a little information regarding them. Choosing a new race would be via player / DM agreement, not a DM nor a player dictate. If you would be interested in this, let me know in your application. I will only allow one or two PCs to change race.

PbP rules
Posting: Weekday – at least once per day, more if you can do it. Weekend – at least once.
To speed up play, I will usually roll perception, survival, initiative, and other group and individual rolls as appropriate / needed.
Please provide your timezone in GMT. I am in upstate New York, USA, GMT -5.

I am very interested in this. Would you possibly allow an android? If not, I understand and will stick to recruitment guidelines. It looks like you could use an arcane caster type.

If you are interested in an Android type (which I would rather not have), look at the "playable races" link above, and the Auttaine. It is a bionic man (half construct, half human) type of character. If that interests you, I will PM you the particulars of the race.

-- david

edit: It has a small amount of "build points" to customize the half-construct, fyi.

The barbarian here. We have a good group, a great DM, and a nice game going. Come join us!

I'd rather not do something you don't really want in the campaign. I'm reading through the gameplay thread now, so I can understand where the group is and offer a character that fits well.

FYI,

The new PC will be in a pod, nekid, with gear in a room and the party "rescues" you.

-- david

Also, while I would rather stick to "core" races, the four new races from Legendary Games are also allowed. It would also give a somewhat of an alien feel to the adventure, so if the Auttaine suits, submit one.

Here is my submission: Auttaine Hedge Witch 3. I think he will be a perfect addition to the group: healer, debuffer, arcane damage. I am working on the physical description and backstory. He will be a loyal team player. I plan to start him with amnesia, so he is as clueless as the current group on where he is (though he will know the two planetary languages). How much wealth should he start with?

By the way, I have read the past 15 gameplay pages and I love the game/characters! I am new to Legendary Planet and Spheres of Power, so you will have to bear with me as I learn. I hope you like the character. Thanks for the opportunity to apply. ~Eminem80

Ugh. WiFi at campground has been essentially out for two days, and I am very close to the edge on my shared data plan. WiFi came back on this morning.

@Gooch - Three potions, healing / lesser restoration / protection / something along those lines. A +1 item (weapon or armor), and another 200 gp worth of gear.

-- david

I was thinking a mithral +1 buckler for 2015gp (same price as a magic weapon)? Maybe I could flavor it as an addition to my technology for fun. It wouldn't change the function at all.

I need to add a trait. I will work on his background, personality, and appearance this weekend! I may send you some PMs with questions since I do not really know much about the other planets. I do plan to have amnesia to be on a level playing field with the current characters as far as knowledge of what is going on. The only difference will be knowing the planetary languages.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

+1 Mithral Buckler is fine. You are not proficient with any shields, but with it being mithral, the AC penalty check becomes 0 so you do not have an attack penalty.

PM away. We are heading home tomorrow and watching the grand daughter Saturday afternoon, night and Sunday morning, but I will keep an eye out for your questions.

Thank you. I'm going to go ahead and purchase the Player's Guide PDF to help develop the backstory.

Dotting for interest. I was able to play the first part of The Assimilation Strain playtest at Paizocon a few years back. It was a blast. I assume your group is past that adventure since they are third level.

First attempt at a backstory. Please let me know what you think.

Backstory:

Octavius Guchni was born to a wealthy family of master clockworkers in the Shadow Zones. His Father, Flavius, served on the Geargiver’s council. Due to this, he was schooled well and had high expectations placed upon him. He excelled at the magical arts of healing and dark magic. When the young Auttaine reached early adulthood, he was chosen to take part in a galactic exploration mission. The group was sent to find new planets where there could be rich sources of minerals to mine for further cybergenic research.

Octavius was popular among his shipmates, who nicknamed him Gooch. They spent their first two years planet hoping before finally arriving on a new planet in an area called Numeria. The land was rich in resources and the group soon set up a mining camp. One night, the camp was raided by barbarians. The majority of the explorers were killed. Gooch was beaten badly and suffered a severe concussion. It would take over a week for the Auttaine to be nursed to health by one of the barbarian tribeswomen. Her name was Kravec and she was a beautiful human.

Octavius woke to meet Kravec, who had spared his life and claimed him as her servant. It was the only way to save his life from the tribe. The concussion had caused amnesia. Gooch knew nothing of his former life. The only clue was his nickname stitched into the jacket that he wore. Octavius soon earned the respect of many of the tribesmen. Over time, he assimilated into their society. His relationship with Kravec grew and the two were married. It was not long before Gooch was collecting minerals and raiding merchant caravans with his Tiger Lord "family". Life was good for those few years. It was the only life he had known, since he had no memory of the past. He often wondered about his previous life, but the only remembrance of it was in dreams that were often turned into nightmares.

One night, Gooch was with a group exploring a local cave for minerals, which the tribe would eventually trade in Starfell. His group fell to an enemy…one like he had never remembered seeing before. The last thing he saw was his companions, who he prided himself on protecting, dying one by one…then there was complete darkness…

Appearance:

In all appearances, Gooch looks like a healthy human male. The only exception is what looks like a metallic tribal tattoo on the right side of his head and face, spanning from his jaw to the occiput of his skull. Many have questioned the technique behind the tattooing as well as the material used, but he has no recollection of it. In actuality, it is nanites that the Auttaine hedgewitch was born with.

Gooch stands six feet tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He keeps his hair shaved neatly. He is dark complected and constantly has a five o'clock shadow. His left eye is a dazzling emerald green, but his right eye is dark with a hint of red. He attributes the color to a concussion he received in Numeria, but it is actually a part of his cybergenic inheritance. The eye is mechanical and aides him in perception. He has several scars on his face and neck. He also has a compartment in his chest that he is currently unaware of.

Personality:

Gooch's best attribute is loyalty to his friends. He takes pride in protecting and healing those he travels and lives with. He is warm and friendly to those he knows, but also has a serious side. He takes his mission to heart and can often be barbaric when attacked or challenged by an enemy. He enjoys laughter and meals/drinks with friends, especially after finishing a mission together. He can sometimes be clueless to verbal expressions and tones. He attributes this to the concussion as well as his limited exposure to people outside his barbarian tribe and the merchants in Numeria.

Yes. In the first third of chapter 1, the 2nd book.

@Gooch- looks good.

Another question: Should I include a campaign trait with the application since the group is into chapter 1?

No campaign trait yet, please.

Will do. I'm working on a half-elf celestial bloodline sorcerer to submit.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Here is my submission. I looked over the Spheres of Power, but I couldn't get my head wrapped around quickly. I changed her bloodline to Starsoul. It may not be the most effective bloodline, but it fit my concept. Can you think of a better way to learn about the stars than doing some planet hopping? Edit: Timezone is -7 GMT. I'm in the Seattle area.

Description and Personality, History:

Min Zuin is of average height and on the thin side. If you look closely you can see slightly pointed ears, and a smattering of sparkles in her eye. Her snow white hair is worn in an elaborate coils pulled to the back of her head. She appears to be in her late 20’s, but with half-elves you never know. Her clothing is well made. She wears a long coat sleeveless coat to give her ease of spellcasting movement over trousers, knee boots, and a crisp red long sleeved shirt.

She smiles readily, but doesn’t trust easily. Her life of looking to the stars wasn’t popular in her hometown. They wanted her to settle down and not take after her wild mother or look to the stars for her future. She found herself getting bitter about the attitudes of her fellow townsfolk.

She had nothing to do with the elven bard coming through town and sweeping her mother of her her feet, and breaking her heart and an engagement at the same time. That happened before she was born. Those stars twinkling in her eyes could have come from any one of her ancestors not just her elven father. She was on her way to a place she’d heard of, Harper’s Ferry, when she woke up in a very strange place. This is one way to get away from those judgemental townsfolk.

Look Ahead:

Min is looking for a place to belong. She wants and opportunity to study the stars she feels such an affinity for, and maybe make some friends who don’t expect make bad life choices at any moment.

Thanks for the consideration.

Checking in. Please let me know if you need anything else from me. Thanks again for the opportunity. I loved reading the gameplay thread and I hope to have the chance to join the team!

Putting in my own application somewhat late in the piece, but this does look to be a very interesting campaign and I'd be keen to take part.

I've gone with a scholarly / social focus for Elia, with arcane firepower to hurl about in combat. Might need to tweak the profile layout a bit, but the content's sorted, pending any GM input. Quite open to tweaking the "how you got here" part in the interests of drama.

Timezone: GMT +12

Background:

Description:

Spoiler:

On the short side, with white-streaked brown hair and geometric tattoos adorning her body, Elia blends practicality and style, favouring colourful layers atop more durable, practical garb. She is fit from her continual travels, with plenty of energy to devote to both social and more scholarly activities.

Personality:

Spoiler:

Inquisitive, bright and friendly, Elia is a skilled conversationalist, keen to find out about the people and the world around her. She a fast, loyal friend, and tries to deal fairly with those she meets, even if they don't reciprocate that sense of fairness. Elia is comfortable in her skin, and the years have brought her wisdom, without diminishing her
joy in life.

History:

Spoiler:

Born to the traveling life in a Varisian caravan, Elia's childhood was a happy one, spent traversing the Inner Sea in the company of her clan. Her studious nature saw her trained as a wizard, absorbing both esoteric knowledge and the history of her people from a young age. Rather than simply safeguarding and passing on that lore, however, Elia came to see it as her mission to expand and fill in the gaps in her people's knowledge.

It is a quest she pursued wherever her clan's travels took them. Still, it is in Varisia itself that the oldest secrets and histories can be found, most especially in the ruins of ancient Thassilon, and so it is there she returns time and time again. Of course, it's not just in ruins or dusty libraries that knowledge can be found, and Elia often spends time seeking out the local elders and other people with knowledge.

In the end, it was delving into ruins which caught up with her, with herself and her companions stalked through a Thassilonian tomb-complex and abducted, one by one, by a metallic creature beyond any of their experiences.

Looking Ahead:

Spoiler:

Elia has always been one to make the best of a bad situation, and she intends to chronicle her adventures, expand her horizons, and collect what knowledge she can in hopes of bringing it back to share with her people.

Finally able to get back in. Between site issues, upstream issues from Paizo and the *%%$^^&*&^ campground wifi absolutely stinking, first time I have been able to post, other than 1 quick one a few days ago (while the site was up for 10 minutes), since Saturday afternoon.

With three submissions, that is enough for me to make a decision, so I am closing down the recruitment now.

As today is my wife's birthday, I will make a decision tomorrow morning early, and post them, since we are going out for the day and evening. (assuming I still can!).

Welcome back! The site has been terrible for over a week. It has been a problem for all of my games. Enjoy your wife's birthday! <fingers crossed>

Have a lovely evening. Glad to hear you made it back.

Why did I have to leave this open so long. I really like all three of the submissions, but five players is my usual limit. That said, I will break my rule, one more time, so I guess it will now be a guideline rather than a rule, and will play with six.

"Gooch" Octavius Guchni and Min Zuin, please check in on the discussion thread. Min, please create an alias. Both, please create a tag line similar to the tag lines the others have.

When both of you check in, I will update the gameplay thread and we can move the game forward. Both characters will "new" arrivals at the prison, and have nothing on but "skivvies", however your equipment will be nearby.

-- david

FYI. HERE is the Link to the Discussion Thread as this Recruitment Thread is not connected with the campaign.

Best of luck, people. I'll follow the campaign with interest.
