Am I crazy? Events are live on the GenCon site and I see nothing for PFS or Starfinder.

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Indianapolis

Well, events aren't live, per se - you still can't sign up for them.

But, like you, I didn't see any PFS or SFS items.

I've seen PFS and Starfinder events up on the GenCon event catalog now, but nothing for ACG. Are there not going to be any ACG events this year? That's been basically my whole weekend the past few years, I'd hate to see it go!

There will be ACG!

I've looked and looked, but I can't find any yet. There are Pathfinder events, but not Paizo PFS ones yet. If you see some, could you please post a link?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I *believe* that our events are not up yet.

The Exchange

I too have tried searching and although I can find Pathfinder and Starfinder events, they don't seem to be associated with the ones that Paizo are actually running. Any idea on when we might see some listed?

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 *** Venture-Agent, Nebraska—Omaha

I'm guessing the volunteer schedules need to be arranged before Paizo commits to an event schedule.

No, it's reversed. First Paizo determines their scenario schedule for GenCon and then we assign volunteers to it.

No pressure or anything, but with offering multiple game systems in 5 hour blocks, the PFS/SFS/PACG schedule needs to go up soon so people can plan for other events.

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

I am sure the folks up top are working hard to get it out. Don't want to rush it and find out there is a mistake because I am sure no one on this forum would ever point out a mistake to them.

Everyone just needs to take a chill pill!

Opps.. look like I forgot the [sarcasm] tags...

PFS #8-25: Unleashing the Untouchable
Short Description:With mighty artifacts from across the planes, the Society sends its greatest to a fiery extraplanar forge to shatter the prison of a mighty demigod of good. Prepare for an epic challenge. Level 12-15.

Long Description:
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 12–15. The Pathfinder Society has secured the tools and uncovered the secret to shattering the Untouchable Opal and liberating the demigod within. All the Pathfinders lack is an impossibly hot flame—one that can match the searing hatred of Ymeri herself. The Society’s best bet is Kandirion’s Pyre, a supernatural forge situated where the elemental planes of earth and fire relentlessly batter each other. Freeing a demigod could send ripples through the multiverse and attract the attention of powerful creatures. Only the greatest agents stand a chance of breaking the Opal and surviving. Written by Robert Brookes.

Heh. As a Tier 1, I am expecting to be able to play NOTHING on the official GenCon schedule.

Maybe I'll be wrong, but that's my guess.

We hope to have that resolved by the end of the week. Gen Con has not allocated the badges to Paizo yet for distribution. they have been working on correcting the delays in the schedule appearing. Now that, that issue is done, I'm sure the badges will be available soon.

With the midnight slots Paizo is now running what, 13 total slots?

Something like that. 4 slots a day. 1 slot Sunday.

I can't remember correctly, but I think each gm is not allowed to do 3 in a row now. Or it could've been a dream that I heard that.

Will have to wait and see how schedules look.

Correct, there are 13 total slots. The overnight slots are associated with the day they follow rather than the being the first of the day which is typical for Gen Con. For example, the Thursday overnight slot begins at 0200 on Friday morning and ends at 0700 Friday morning.

Originally, the thought was not to schedule anyone with more than two consecutive slots. However, considering that historically many GMs ran three slots in a day with only the overnight period off, it wouldn't be something new. Using a two "on," one "off" formula would cause the sleep window to shift each day which is probably less desirable for most. Also, as we built schedules it became apparent that no more than two in a row was very limiting and posed additional challenges that complicated other measure points like matching schedules for paired volunteers, minimizing the number of scenarios to prep, etc. So, while we are trying to limit the occurrence of three-in-a-row, we are not totally ruling it out. There will be no cases of anyone running four consecutive slots.

PFS at GenCon 50!

Will Save vs. Confusion = 19 + 7 < DC 50 fail

Confusion Effects

  • New volunteer application
  • select when you don't want to work instead of when you want to work (or was it visa versa)
  • new midnight madness slots
  • new Starfinder Society
  • new Starfinder game and all its rules
  • forget to make copies of what you send to Bob
  • fewer time slots for many scenarios = more prep time
  • new info arriving a little late
  • Great PFS community!
  • Supplemental GM survey
  • three (or is it four) specials
  • less time to sleep and recover from confusion effects

Bob you are an amazing juggler!

Most of the events are for last season, with several older evergreens thrown in as well. #1 Silent Tide isn't even for Pathfinder, but is for D&D 3.5 (although it may have had an "official" conversion). Wouldn't offering the first PFRPG scenario fill the "back to the beginning" vibe? I dunno.

Last year at a local Con we ran several Season 0,1&2 scenarios under the theme of 'Know Your History!' since so many of our local players were pretty recent PFS converts. It went over smashingly.

We always run a nice variety of scenarios at our Bay Area Cons.

We've never had any trouble getting people for them.

First time truly attending. I'm not asking for guarantees, but I'm going with a small group of somewhat distinct gaming interests and planning on doing SFS/PFS in the morning and afternoon slots all weekend along with the Special Saturday night. What I'm wondering on is are there any insights for what to try and sign-up for when? My biggest interest is getting the newest PFS scenarios in and a nice chunk of the SFS scenarios in. That makes it easier to help out GMing at SkalCon for folks.

I would love GM something involving Starfinder at least once for the weekend.

I wonder if it's to late to add that note.

While it's great that you're so dedicated to the Paizo games, I highly recommend that you take some time to go explore the rest of the convention. The vendor room can easily take an entire afternoon to explore (and it's not open evenings). True Dungeon is worth doing at least once, just for the experience. And there's always other stuff going on.

For anyone's first Gen Con, I'll recommend that you don't spend more than half your time in the Sagamore Ballroom (Paizo's home base). You'll miss the rest of the con that way.

    Dark Archive 4/5 5/5

While I appreciate the insight we are holding the evening slots open for exploration (I have attended years ago without signing up for events). I'm thinking of doing the Killer Breakfast as well. But I'm looking for specific ideas on what slots are likely to get really full or be open in regards to PFS/SFS.

    Silver Crusade 4/5

As I said, the vendor room isn't open evenings, so I'd keep one afternoon open for that. Maybe make that your afternoon activity on the day that you're playing a special in the evening, so you're not playing three sessions in a row that day (which can be tiring).

As for what fills up, get your tickets early for the multi-table specials. From past experience, I'd say you can usually get into just about any other PFS sessions on generic tickets.

The introduction of Starfinder could throw things out of whack, though. We have no way of knowing if it'll be popular enough to sell out, or how many players it will take away from PFS tables.

    2/5

Quick question: so I've missed out the last couple GenCons I've attended on the "major" mid-Saturday event. Is there going to be a main Pathfinder event this season? Is it already in the GenCon catalog, and I'm just unaware of it?

There are two multi-table specials going off this year. If you are looking at Paizo events, make sure to click the 'show more events' button at the bottom of the list to see more.

    2/5

Hmmm. I didn't even see Paizo as listed in the 'Hosts' section.

There are two, one is Paizo and one is Paizo Inc. You want the second one.

We always try to offer some older stuff since a large portion of our community has not played the "classics." Unfortunately, this year with all the additional new content (Starfinder) our ability to offer old skool stuff is diminished. That said, Silent Tide is widely viewed as one of the best low-tier scenarios so it's an easy choice to offer it.
