Product Suggestion: Races Codex

Product Discussion

One of my greatest desires is to be able to use the many races released by Paizo in any campaign, and to save the time that I would lose designing NPC/Foes from all of these races, nothing better than a product from the Codex series.

Races Codex would be a wondrous book, with NPCs from the many different 0HD races in ARG, arranged just as the Monster Codex, with options, examples and encounters. Fortunately, there are indeed 20 races in the Advance Races Guide (core not included).

- Aasimar
- Catfolk
- Dhampir
- Fetchling
- Grippli
- Ifrit
- Kitsune
- Merfolk
- Nagaji
- Oread
- Samsaran
- Sylph
- Suli
- Svirfneblin
- Tengus
- Tiefling
- Undine
- Vanara
- Vishkanyas
- Wayangs

The book would be just as useful as the NPC and the Monster Codex, and I dare to say that I woul prefer it over the Villain Codex. ;)

What are your thoughts on a product like this? If it was ever released, what races would you like to see the most?

If it comes with material that fleshes out the less fleshed-out races (even if somehow worked into the example character descriptions), I'm for it.

The Inner Sea Races book might be what you're looking for. Ok, granted, they never release one for the official rulebooks, but still, that book has a pretty basis of what you're currently asking.

Not really. If you look at any of the Codex series books you should be aware of the marvelously useful stat blocks, that are, to me, the main point of the Codex series.

I'm not asking for flavor, as we indeed have Inner Sea Races for that. I'm asking for essentially ready to go stat blocks.

I would prefer a book that has every 0HD race in pathfinder with racial options(racial feats, alternate racial traits, and favored class bonuses only). Basically a Advanced Race's Guide 2 but with every race getting equal page count.

What about if the book had an Iconic (well, at least semi-Iconic) character for each race?

Well, we have the player companion line for PC options, and I think we have dozens of new racial traits there for every race in the ARG. We also have Inner Sea Races for traits.

I'm suggesting this book as a GM, a book useful to throw enemies at the PCs, a GM-friendly book with "ready-to-use" friends/foes stat blocks. Alas, all Codex books have new options that players could also use, and maybe they could include alternate racial traits in that section. ;)

XD

I would buy the book just for that! An iconic female merfolk or an iconic rogue tengu... *-*

Okay....

We pick a non-CORE race and everyone adds to the foundation. The Golem likely will get in a huff if we use the published material, so...

Both Aasimar and Tieflings have their own books, so (rolls a D20) 17

possible Undine traits:
Fully Aquatic: Some Undine are more adapted to life underwater than above. They start taking damage, etc. by hour, rather than day. You have gills and never have to surface for air and always pass Swim checks (or take 10).

Unholy taint: Your line has been tainted by an aquatic abomination, granting a unwholesomeness that disturbs others. + 2 on intimidate, etc., -2 on Diplomacy, etc., and one shift negative on reactions

I don't know why this was never done before, even though Pathfinder has so many interesting races - even more than the ones in ARG, that alone would be compelling enough for the book.

I would love to have this book! It would be ease to put the players against a large variety of societies, and not only against monsters - like orcs and hobgoblins. Players should also be able to pic read-to-go characters to play as from many different races. We would also have more player options to customize their characters, as some of you have suggested.

It would certainly be a must have for my collection. *-*

This would be a cool idea. I love the idea of racial "Iconics" because I've always been disappointed that none of the Iconics were anything but Core races.

Seems good to me.

A selection of fully stated NPCs in each ARG race, and one or even two Iconics in each race, as a fully stated 20 level pregen character.

It'd be nice to be able to throw in something like a Grippli Village and not have to either A> spend five hours creating all the major NPCs or B> try to pull everything out of my *** at the last second and then keep it all straight.

Exactly!

A and B have always been the most attractive point of an NPC codex to me.

Designing encounters or even settlement inhabitants can take hours, specially if using the more exotic races. Monster Codex made things simpler when it comes to the most common enemies, but we have nothing when it comes to races like catfolks, gripplies and vanaras.

Pathfinder has a lot of really cool races that I would love to use in campaigns instead of the classic "elves, dwarfs and humans against orcs", and a Races Codex would certainly help - really.

Well, I'm sure Villains Codex isn't the last one, and I'm leaving this suggestions here.

Indeed. A male Kitsune iconic, or a female Undine one would be awesome. Even though that wasn't in my mind while suggesting this book, it's not like I wouldn't like it. Specially as we could use their stats as pre generated PCs -just as with the other iconics.

Hell's Vengeance introduced some non-Core Iconics, but they are all Evil.

Tiefling Assassin, Emil. Duegar Antipaladin, Urgraz. Dhampir Necromancer, Nyctessa (my favorite of them all).

A female catfolk iconic(B3 style), male dhampir iconic, female aasimar, male tiefling, etc. Yeah I would love non-core race iconics.

New iconics for each of the races would be an interesting and attractive addition to this book if it ever happened to come out of my dreams... ;)

I would love to see pregenerated NPCs and also 1 iconic for the each of Geniekin. *-*
