Swedish pancakes.

Swedish chef!

Yorn desh born, der ritt de gitt der gue,
Orn desh, dee born desh, de umn bork! bork! bork!

Swedish pancakes. Milk, eggs, wheat flour and salt. Butter to fry with. They should be very thin. Eat with sugar or jam, sometimes with whipped cream.

"I do declare! Savages! The lot of you! You never share your peacon pie recipe! You always keep it secret. All the scandal and shame on your family. The papers will hear about this ya'll mark my words! THE PAPERS!!! " he said in the proper old tyme southern voice

On the second part, since these savages want to share, you start with the crust already tin foiled wrapped, and you never ever check for an internal tempt. The mix is done when you can stick a fork through the crust in the middle, and it comes out clean. anything else and you need to bake/ ensure you mixed everything properly.

Dang that beat the heck out of my reference.

Good morning, everyone.

Hey, John!

I made homemade chicken strips last night, but my wife didn't get a big enough container of panko bread crumbs, so I had to get creative with the last half.

Crushed croutons, pretty good but a pain in the ass.

Grapenuts, healthy, too crunchy, you gotta really season the chicken before coating because they don't have any flavor whatsoever.

Saltine crackers, sure wish I found these first, instead of when I only had four pieces left.

'Mornin, Cal. Feeling better, today?

So far, mostly. My legs are really hurting and despite being awake from 2 to 5 am with the pain I'm in a surprisingly good mood. Maybe it's delirium... lol

It's after 12:00 AM, and I'm tired. Good night, everyone.

Hey, everyone. I've got some very good news! After talking to the office staff of the neurosurgeon in charge of my case, Dr. Senter has cleared me to return to duty provided I continue to wear the eye patch.

Hey, everyone. I know it's just a couple of weeks before my first anniversary here on the forums, but it's close enough. So I'd like to say a few things before I forget them. First off, I'm glad to have survived my first year on the forums, even if it's mostly just listening to others. I'd like to think that I've become a better Human Being just by listening to others with differing viewpoints and opinions. And I'd like to think that I've grown wiser in the process.

I'd like to thank everyone for being kind, caring, and compassionate towards me, a near total stranger. Not just about my recently diagnosed tumor, but everything else. Including my (still) unresolved grieving over the 1997 suicide of a brother. It means a lot to me, possibly more than anyone will ever know. Likewise, I've also shared in your joys and sorrows.

Each and every one of you, on this thread and others, has become like family to me, and I love you all. And this year, I'll not let my Birthday slip by without telling anyone.

Cheers to you, John. Did you get here in time to receive cookies from Lilith?

No. I think I missed that.

I am officially back to work on my previous schedule, starting Today.

Need to get Kileanna back now.

Okay.

*hands John cookies*

It's a tradition.

Thank you, Sissyl.

Gonna try my hand at Tempura any tips?

Tempura? Sure.

Get a wok pan with a fine control heat adjustment. 180 C is where you want to be for deep frying.

Use a recipe with a little beer in the batter.

Get the crispiest veggies you can find.

Decide if your conscience can handle giant prawns. They are delicious.

I don't think I could get prawns where I live I was thinking shrimp.

I've decided Asian recipes are my fav to make with Italian running a close second.

Next up is Karaage chicken.

I also wanna try making onigiri but I can't decide on a filling for it.

Go traditional with sour plums

I used to live right next to a plum orchard as a kid.

The trees were short and spiky, ideal for keeping d@&%&ead brothers out.

Okay... Swede here. What is the difference between shrimp and prawn?

They're technically two different species, but in terms of cooking can be used interchangeably as they are nearly identical. The two species tend to get lumped together a lot too, with Americans generally using the term shrimp and English generally using the term prawns, which in either case can actually refer to either species. It's very confusing.

I always thought prawns were the larger of the two.

I also always thought they were the same.

Bless my Swedish roots!

And probably the Irish roots.

There used to be a beautiful plum tree in my back garden, it was a wedding gift for my parents, wonderful flower and nice fruit but they got infected with something very shortly after budding so you had to be choosie. It's been taken away now, makes me rather sad.

As to shrimps and prawns, they're different in some practically indiscernible way. That's basically my knowledge.

Growing up in a very rural area I knew where the groves of wild plums grew. The small trees grew in such thick proliferation that it was nearly impossible to pick any that didn't grow on the fringes.

Prawns tend to be lighter in flavor?
Maybe?
IDK
I always use shrimp.

Thank you. You learn something new every day.

Anyway, the stuff you want for tempura has to have a decent texture. Crispy veggies like carrot sticks, sweet peppers, and such, and shrimp/prawns. Other stuff gets soggy and not as fun to eat.

Onigiri turned out well. the karaage chicken did to but was powerfully flavored Had to eat with a lot of rice to balance it out which isn't a bad thing.

Ditto! I'll even help chop the veggies and whatnot. I love the cooking here, but it still sounds like fun.

I see they have learned wisdom.

I'm not generally a fan of taco bell but they have a fajita seasoning mix at Walmart that is really delicious. cook some stop light peppers onion and two meat options in the stuff makes for a good dinner.

Tempura turned out well. I think I could have done a bit better. Made the batter to thin. probably cooked it to long but tasted fine still. It was very messy, and a lot of work. Probably won't do that one again for awhile.

Still out here most time because I am spending almost all my free time drawing.
I am being kinda lucky with commissions which is cool, but drawing projects and promoting my art take most of my online time.

Today I have received a package from Paizo with something of my wishlist on it, which shocked me. That mean that someone here bought an awesome cthulhu pillow for me! Thank you so much, mysterious person! I love you so much whoever you are!

Now I am getting to the kitchen to cook it. Local festivities are this days and I ran out of oxtopus, so this will do!

I'm temporarily running a PbP until the GM has more time in RL. This is where I step up to the plate. For the team.

I know who it was.

No, it wasn't me.

I made chicken nuggets last night, they turned out really well.

I made Scotch eggs for the first time on Monday. Also the first time I got to eat them. I've watched with great envy as others ate them at renn faire because they looked delicious, but the breading meant I couldn't have them myself. So I made a gluten free version, which wasn't even difficult since I substituted oat flour and almond meal for the usual breadcrumbs. Turned out great. Very delicious. I reheated the leftovers for lunch today and surprisingly even reheated they were good. A lot of fried food doesn't do well for leftover so I was pleasantly surprised. Hurray for homemade junk food. :)
