Fresh cherries are the best!

Tonight I'm making enchiladas...sort of. It's more an enchilada casserole. Take all the ingredients for enchiladas and assemble them like a lasagna and bake it. The hardest part is making the sauce. I make my own from scratch because the pre-made ones are usually not wheat free. I do not have the patience required to stand there and whisk while the sauce comes to a boil. :P

Easy solution Lyn. Put on mommy scowl, and get kidlet to whisk if he/she wants to keep eating at home (and she/he owes mommy if I remember correctly).

Any how kids at that age have a lot of lower arm strength anyway ^^.

I like the way you think! That sounds like a perfect solution. :P

*Kjeldorn's eyes glazes over as he remembers his mommy kicking him into the kitchen, at the age of 13 to cook dinner for the family 1 or 2 a week, cause he was now old enough to contribute to the household chores*

All from The Onion's Our Dumb World an absolutely hilarious book easily found at second hand bookstores.

I know I have many friends on this thread, so I'll just come out and say it. I learned a short time ago that my landlord for the past year died suddenly in a drowning accident. It's unknown at this point whether my Mother and I will have to move, but I'll keep everyone posted.

Sorry for your landlord, John. I hope it doesn't mean that you'll have to move, but you never know if the change can be for good.

I've moved here a year ago and it was stressful but now I am happier than ever.

OmGosh, John. I hope it all turns out well for you.

Sorry to hear that, hope you and your mother gets to stay, as re-housing is often far too stressful (at least for my taste).

Wheee! Forums back!

My cell phone ended in the bottom of a bucket with potatoes and water. I'll say I was just attempting to share the potatoes with someone on the net xD

D'oh ^^.

I'm having baked potatoes today with freshly made parsley and rosemary butter (with some garlic and peppercorn butter on the side - you can never get too much butter)
And side of ribs.

What kind of ribs? Pork? Beef? Lamb (yucks)?

I don't use too much butter, as I live in the land of the Sect of Olive Oil, but I really like it.

I am against of that culinary horror called margarine.

Today is the opening day of our fair city's annual festival!

My favorite parts of the Festival are the wonderfully weird parade (that includes such regular favorites as the Volvo Balet and the He-Man Chainsaw Marching Band), and all of the amazing street foods. And the music. And the beer tasting.

Should be a fun time!

@Kile: Ahh should have clarified. Its a side of pork ribs.

Well ours is kind of the land of butter, where the older generations, still look at olive oil as something belonging to them there foreigners...
Margarine is far bigger then oil too, but still looked at like a poor man's substitute (because well it is dirt cheap).

@Hal: That looks delightfully derpy and fun.

Actually in Galicia butter and pork lard are more traditional than olive oil as olives don't grow well here, and cows and pigs do. But we have got influenced by our southern neighbors and not too many people use them now.

Today I had a non stop day until dinner time. I only stayed at home to have lunch. Now that I am at bed I start to feel tired. I guess I'll go to sleep early as today I awakened before 6.

Very sorry about your landlord. :(

I hope that everything works out okay for you.

Thanks, Lynora. So do I.

I'm at work, so it looks like water for dinner tonight! Mostly because I only get a fifteen minute break and I'd rather spend it sitting outside then eating in a break room.

Also, I have a fresh cheesecake and fresh cherries at home, waiting...

Trying out the new deep fryer, part 2. Tonight I made fried chicken strips. They were amazingly good. I have to clean out the oil before I go to bed though. Super nervous even though I checked the container five times earlier to be extra super duper absolutely sure there wouldn't be a repeat of the other night. :)

I'm glad the experiment went well, Lynora!
I'm not sure of what or where I am eating today.
Probably at Dal's parents home, but I am tired, my stomach is unstable and I feel like staying at home. We'll see.

I see we have moved on from the altapocalyse.

So I am late?
Damn!

Yes unfortunately we have steered away from the alias. The mooode has passed. You better just hit the Hay its probably pasture bed time anyways. If I need you Ill look for a bull-dozer.

I've got to make a couple of updates on my Campaign Journal on two days, even if they are not very big ones.
This part of the story was very fun to GM and play, but it's not being so fun to write. I don't want to get past over it without details because we had some interesting character developement and some funny events, but I am feeling less motivated right now.
I don't want to get into other writing projects before finishing this one, but witb real life stuff and not enough motivation I am starting to be a bit tired.
I am on the 4th book and still have 2 more remaining, so it's going to take some time.

I've just realized I am a year younger than I thought... for some reason I was convinced on being going to be 34 years old this month and I realized I am going to be 33.
How can I have lost track of my own age?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I stopped keeping track years ago. I remember someone asking me awhile ago and my girlfriend correcting me. Oh yeah she is probably right.

You're practicing for your twilight years? Not that I'd suggest that, but hey, what's a little practice right?

I don't know, I'm probably being 85 in less than 10 years if I keep this accuracy on tracking my own age.
I thought I should be saying I am younger than I am, not older.

You're catching on! I knew you were a bright one ;)

I woke up before the Farmer's market again.

Maybe I should get a stall. I'd be the first one set up. :-)

Sound delicious.

Also, nothing like and expensive and annoying accident to increase paranoia (which isn't really paranoia when it has happened, right...right!?)

Oh no, is my little chandeling feeling ill?!

*Tries desperately to squeeze into a nurses uniform (which he has for...reasons?!), so he can see to Kileanna's continued good health*

As for my age, I've kind of always felt older then I really am. I've jokingly said that, while my body might be so and so old, my mind is something like 25-30 years older ^^.

I feel sometimes like a granny. Specially when I get guests and try to force feed them. Just like my granny did xD

I don't think I am ill. I've been getting few sleep these days for no reason. Probably because of weather. But it will get better.

*Tries to picture Kjel dressed as a nurse. She thinks of one of the unisex scrubs she has on her job. Not so funny.*

In my case, my brain isn't the trouble, but my body acts like it's twice it's age. Darn hypermobile joints leaving me hobbling around like a granny....
But I do sometimes have to stop and do the math to figure out how old I am. It's just hard to keep track, it really is. :)

Today I got fresh cherries too. Free fresh cherries.

Must say that cherries aren't my favorite fruit, but I probably wouldn't say no when its free ^^.

Edit: as for the nurses uniform, yes its a real nurses uniform, procured almost 10 years ago by nice nurse I knew, for "roleplaying" purposes.
If I attempted to put the thing on, it would probably end it a loud ripping sound, or the buttons becoming deadly projectiles.

XD
My uniform is so damn unsexy so it isn't good for roleplaying.

These cherries are a local variant of sour cherries. Not my favorite ones but they are pretty good.

I don't usually like bone fruits a lot, but I like cherries. I cannot eat a lot of them for digestive reasons, though.

I might think of some dessert made with them too.

I was pondering making an apfelstrudel for my birthday but Dal doesn't like raisins so... still considering new options.
