Ok, I admit, that definition of chili seems to be just the filling of a taco/burrito/fajita to me. Then again, my favorite chili is a French white chili, called something like (pardon my spelling) casoule.

Chili is more like a stew instead of burrito/taco/fajita stuffing, which is dry. I neglected to say tomato sauce, but I thought that that was understood as a given. Sorry.

Now that's just horrible. Have you no shame?

I get a lot of these calls this days. I'm first on the lists, what is great, but it also means I get all the last minute contracts (and that I'll be working again with faeces today. I get all the crap)

Talk about spicy chili and crap. While it is a well known connection, I still find it funny that subconsciously talk of chili brought up a conversation about crap.

Having me working with crap brought up the conversation. Don't place the blame on chili!

Working with crap sounds like a shi!!y job.

Okay. Moving the thread topic back to food (where it belongs), what is everyone's favorite topping for ice cream?

Chocolate syrup gets honorary mention. It is the one topping my family would send me back to the store to purchase.

I would put peanut topping next personally.

The one topping I am always surprised by how much I like it is shredded coconut.

I would sell every last one of you for a fresh Strawberry Shortcake or a halfway decent Turtle Sundae.

Lucky for you, due to geographical awesomeness, I don't have to.

Morello cherries and torani dark chocolate sauce

I just choked on my drink when I read that trying to keep from laughing.

Today's menu:

Maelstrom frying-stew-pot-thing.

what's in it you ask? well leftover bits of beef, smoked bacon and turkey.
Add what ever vegetables are left from the previous week (in this case a few tomatoes, some garlic, some onion, a few potatoes, a few chilies, a small bit ginger and half a bell pepper).
Add any leftover cream, coconut-milk or whatever to the mix.
cook a bit of rice as a side dish (mostly to cover for the lack of vegetables).
Throw half the spice rack at it.
Cook until done.

The Good thing about it: It tastes different every time!

The Bad thing about it: It tastes different every time! which means that it doesn't necessarily tastes any Good.

That's my kind of cooking right there.

While I love most flavors of ice cream I've ever tried, my favorite is vanilla. It's like a blank canvas awaiting my toppings muse.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My favorite flavor is probably vanilla too. But true vanilla, not vanilla flavor but natural vanilla.

Babcock Hall ( believe that's where they serve it, more specifically, the UW), any flavor will do. If there's a better ice cream in Wisconsin, I haven't had it.

It was a rough day, so I made my favorite tagine for dinner. Chicken with olives and preserved lemons. With quinoa.

Chinese takeout for dinner!

General Tso, Crab Rangoon, and Sweet and Sour Chicken (all with fried rice of course).

Muad'Dib! Muad'Dib! Muad'Dib!

I love magic shell, but I also like hot fudge, jimmies, whipped cream, and caramel sauce.

I'm having leftover Chicken Marengo for dinner tonight/this morning (whatever it is)

Also a snack of assorted nuts and dried fruits that I put together in bulk for a Bridge meal to keep me away from the vending machines:

Components:

  • Dried cranberries
  • Almonds
  • Peanuts
  • Dried cherries
  • Dried blueberries
  • Filberts
  • Pepitas
  • Walnuts
  • Sunflower hearts
  • Granola
  • Cashews

Sounds tasty!
What are «pepitas»?
In spanish that word can mean a lot of things, so I'm confused. (Pepitas are seeds of fruits and also chocolate chips).

I'm feeling awful today. Having different contracts each day had me finishing work in Microbiology at 10 PM and having to enter my job at Urine Biochemistry at 8AM. I've not slept enough and I have a terrible headache.

In this instance, Pepitas are No-shell pumpkin seeds.

As I said before, sounds tasty!

The vending machines from the hospital where I'm working have a special device specifically created to turn coke bottles into killer bombs.

I've soaked myself in coke in front of a lot of patients and visitors.

I bet I didn't look very proffesional.

*sigh*

Hospital vending machines are the devil

The ones at my hospital take credit cards O.O

I've seen those. I don't trust them.

Thus my effort to create a healthy snack alternative to Cheetocrack

At least I am in good company

Trust and good judgement go out the window at 4am when the reptile brain is ascendant....

That is a fair point sir.

I never understood people that fall asleep driving until I got on third shifts and my brains goes you can just rest your eyes for a minute. Thank you whoever made those little bumpy things on the side of the road.

I don't care to much for sriracha. It overpowers all the flavor in whatever its on. Which wouldn't be so bad but I don't like its actual flavor spicy aside.

The ones we have here are badly balanced so I get a lot of free snacks. So bad I don't eat many snacks.

My usual greeting to Dalindra after a day of work: Hi! The vending machine gave me a gift for you again!

Well... a workmate wore reindeer horns in Christmas. Not having to work with patients allows us to be more informal.
