Question About Fast Learner Feat

Rules Questions

Does the fast leaner feat work retroactively?

I would say no, since it states "when you gain a level in a favored class". You do not gain levels retroactively.

No, not the way it's written. Shouldn't matter too much, since Toughness and Cunning are better. It's only once you've taken all three that it matters.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

For what it's worth, my GM ruled that it was because of rulings like this.

Since everything else is retroactive when things change (your int goes up, you get more skill points, you get toughness, you get HP for all of your previous levels, etc.). His thinking was that if Fast Learner wasn't supposed to be retroactive, it would say that it was the exception.

I think there is a big difference between a stat going up, which can happen at any time and would be tedious to track when it you gained the bump compared to level, and 'when you gain a level', which is pretty concrete.
