What is Happening With the PF Tales Line?!?!?

I support the Tales line, just get a deal soon. I prefer the smaller format because I often like to put my books in my pocket.

More Tales!

I am THAT GUY who owns every TSR/WotC novel ever published (save for the Magic the Gathering fiction...just not my bag), same with PF Tales.

TAKE MY MONEY T-REX!

;)

Best of luck on the publisher/printer negotiations, and yes, more Cap'n Vin, and of course, more of a certain scoundrel and his hilarious sword buddy. Have not seen a sentient sword I liked in fiction like Hyrm since a certain talking sword got a hilt transplant from a guy named Evelyn.

Also, even if things go amazingly well at Book Expo, don't expect to hear anything for a while. Negotiations like this take time, and we're not going to be able to talk about any of it until a deal is done.
Even for the books under the old contract that just didn't get audiobooks up yet?
Those we're still trying to get sorted. (Things have been a little bonkers around here recently with all the Starfinder prep!)

Anything new on this front? The last audiobook released was reaper's eye in December. I have been waiting on the through the gate of the sea for 5 months to follow on one of my favorite tales characters!

Any plans towards there being Starfinder Tales, or did I just totally miss it?

I think first they have to find a publisher...

And then see how the line does...

Before they decide that.

Pretty sure John has the right of that one.

Publisher first.

Then workout PFT fantasy line.

Then maybe think about Starfinder fiction.

BTW, totally psyched for Starfinder fiction!

I wouldn't complain if they brought back the free weekly web fiction, but for Starfinder, at least for a limited time. Fiction really helps one get the feel of a new universe!

I really-really hope they'll work it out. The fiction line added sooo much depth to the setting and gave us some really memorable characters, it was really what sucked me in for the setting. Also, it was quite bad already, to lose the D&D novel line but at least Paizo carried the torch in this regard too and with good books. It'd be terrible to lose them too. :(

Through the Gate in the Sea has now been out for 11 months. It was under the old contract, since it was a TOR release, so should have gotten an audiobook...but audible/amazon does not show it as available yet. *sigh*

This is my feeling, too. I haven't read all the PF books yet (though I plan to), but I have enjoyed the ones I have read so far. As a long time fan of Forgotten Realms, I was saddened by the fact that there are no new novels in the foreseeable future. I turned to Pathfinder, but now they seem to have hit a similar block. I think the novels add depth to the setting, and get people interested who otherwise may not be. As a bookworm, I know I became interested in D&D through the novels.

It'd be a wonderful holidays present, if we go some sort of announcement on the future of the Pathfinder Tales line.

I'm up to Reaper's Eye on Audible. I just have Shy Knives and I'll be left with no more new Pathfinder Tales to listen to. *sad*

I'm slowly buying all the pdfs I can, but it's slow going, unfortunately. I did actually buy both pdf and physical copies of Nightglass and Nightblade. If I can, I'd love to get Hellknight and all of Dave Gross's line in physical copies, too... For now, I just buy a new pdf whenever I can.

I have physical copies of all the books. Just rather read them in hand than on a device.

Now that James Sutter is no longer with Paizo, who does this fall under?

Mark Moreland would be my guess. Or maybe Mike Kenway?

Sutter left? Wasn't he the one put in charge of Starfinder? Bummer. Lot of big names leaving the Golem lately. Wish them all luck with whatever they're going off to do!

James Sutter's farewell blog is here.

Shame that Sutter left. I'm still in the process of buying all the PF novels. I'm hoping the line doesn't get left behind. Why are all my favorite game setting novel lines getting cut off (FR and PF)?

Silver Crusade

Because they aren't selling well.

Which is surprising, considering how many people are obviously upset by the lack of novels.

Okay Pathfinder Tales is not cut off. Paizo's deal with Tor came to an end and Paizo is searching for a new partner. They have novels ready for publishing once they have a partner IIRC.

We knew that in April -- seven months ago.

The lack of new information since April doesn't mean the project has been abandoned, just that there's no new information to share. It's not efficient for anyone for someone to provide weekly or monthly updates that are essentially, "see the last announcement." When there's something new and final to share, we will.

If you don't any point in taking thirty seconds to post "Still no news, but we're working on it -- hang in there fans, you're not forgotten!" then... okay, you don't.

Doug M.

I still want more news I really did like buying pathfinder tales.

Thanks for the update Mark.

I appreciate that constant updates with nothing new to say doesn't feel like it would be helpful. However, no (or little) communication at all can be just as bad. In the absence of communication, rumours and gossip run rampant.

As far as I can tell, it's been 8 months since the last book was released and there is no official announcement that there will even be a delay with the release schedule on the Paizo Blog.

Note: I don't count a Staff post on a forum thread started by a non-Paizo staff member as a official announcement. Surely you don't want this thread to be the single source of truth about the future of the PF Line, do you?

Maybe you could restart Web Fiction again?

Its been 13 or 14 months since the last audible book, and the last 2 TOR books are still waiting for Audible versions.
