Not as of yet, although there was a backer suggestion along those lines.

Most current polymorph spells can get through a sexual encounter with either extending or recasting (or both).

Some class archetypes allow for longer transformations.

Consider this another backer suggestion. The best we have at the moment is alter self, which requires a combination of 1) multiple castings, 2) Extend Spell, and 3) being at a high enough level that you last more than a few minutes. That last one is especially important given the context.

All the later spells have similar duration problems (1 minute/level) except for shapechange, but the adventure path's almost done by then.

As for class archetypes, there are very few of those with low-level cosmetic shapechanging. There's the urban druid, skinshaper (Ultimate Intrigue, p.26-27), oracles with the intrigue mystery (UI, p.69, heh). There's also the metamorph (UI, p.19), but that's severely underpowered. I think I might be missing one or two other things, but you get the idea.

I'm not sure; my understanding is that this stretch goal has unlocked occult class options that the book's authors had already written, whereas the Phantom Lover pledge level allows those patrons to write an occult archetype in addition to that.

I do, as most adventurers end up marrying one of them.

As I understand it (and that is not 100% assured - for certainty, ask Christina Stiles), any new archetypes created by Phantom Lover backers will be added to the book before printing (and thus be in the printed book). However, that's just my understanding - it may not be correct.

AlgaeNymph wrote:

I meant archetypes (or other class options) included in the Book of Passion. I know there are at minimum three that grant the ability to change one's gender for extended periods of time.

As far as spells that functions as a longer duration alter self, there are several backers who've selected pledge levels where they can add content to the book before it goes to print. If one of them would like to add such a spell, that would be fine. If not, I might try to squeeze one in, but I'd need permission from the publisher (Christina Stiles) to do so.

Well I manage to get enough money to be able to atleast get the level where you get a book...which also pushed it over the next stretch goal...so we are getting 30+ monsters...

I am sad that I will not be able to buy this right away. I've loved watching this kickstarter, it's a continuation of a long history that includes the Book of Erotic Fantasy and the D&D Netbook of Sex (yeah, I'm old). I hope to get this when my cashflow is positive again, so for now good luck to a great product!

I haven't seen any that mention spells, which ones're those?

Speaking of spells, I remember seeing a planar lover or something like that? Why wouldn't the planar binding/ally spells serve the same purpose?

Also, do tell us more about this planar lover spell. :3

We got the monsters too. Awesome! Now to sit back and get through the long wait until August...

AlgaeNymph wrote:

Arcanist gets an exploit that functions like that and lasts for 10 minutes per level.

Arguably one of the Druid archetypes since it replaces a standard wildshape form with a "Fey" form (which, if the fey is humanoid would allow Wildshape to be used to adjust one's physical sex).

While not a magical change, Investigators, Ninjas, and Rogues get a shared talent that allows a character to disguise his or her sex so thoroughly that he or she can have sex and not reveal his or her disguise to his or her lover.

There is a Shaman archetype that causes the Shaman to become permanently both sexes (as in, the shaman becomes a hermaphrodite with all primary sexual characteristics). This same archetype can temporarily transform into any single sex they like after choosing the correct hex.

And, finally, the Vigilante gets a social talent that allows her "social" form to have different sexual parts than her vigilante form.

So there you go. Only two archetypes, but several of classes get options to do this.

AlgaeNymph wrote:

It functions as planar binding/ally except that it can also call upon extraplanar aberrations and the nature of the contract falls into one of three types:

- The caster has sex with the summoned creature in return for a blessing or boon.
- The caster has sex with the summoned creature for the purpose of procreation.
- The caster contracts the summoned creature for sex.

To expand, in the first case, the caster would be trading his or her sexual services for some sort of reward from the outsider. The sex would serve as payment for a short-term blessing.

In the second case, the goal is producing a child with the summoned creature. In such a case, the CHILD becomes the payment for whatever service is being asked (think Rumpelstiltskin, except that he gets her pregnant personally). This version typically only works with outsiders.

In the third case, you are paying (with standard planar ally fees) a creature for its sexual services. Want to run a brothel with an actual tentacle monster that patrons can pay to have sex with? This is how you set that up.

Hope that answered your question.

So now that the Kickstarter is over, I wanted to ask about the stretch goals that didn't get funded. Will we still get a chance to purchase things like the adult coloring book as add-ons? Or will they be sold separately later on? I'm hoping we'll still get a chance to see the Mythic content somewhere!

There has been discussion of putting the coloring book into the pledge manager as an add-on. Nothing's final yet, obviously, but there has been talk of it.

As far as other content goes, that is almost a foregone conclusion at this point. The Intrigues stretch goal will likely be the basis for a line of smaller Passion based projects to follow. Again, no details exist (and if they did, I couldn't discuss them), but "more" will certainly be coming at some point.

... no pun intended.

You know I always had a thing for medusa...in fact one of my character who is visiting Abaslom is making a point of visiting a certain brothel.

Anyway I am wondering is any of the other 'monsters' are detailed....

Hope that answered your question.

No and yes.

You described class abilities, presumably in The Book of Passion and not Paizo canon, not which tier lets me design a spell specifically.

However, speaking of spells, you did tell me enough about planar lover to get me excited. I'm gonna be thinking about how to incorporate selling my body to celestials into Paizo's adventure paths.

...While I'm thinking about that, I've another questions. Will The Book of Passion have any advice on sexualizing adventure paths?

As far as the tiers of backing that would be able to add a spell, I believe the top two tiers would definitely be able to add a spell. Depending on the class and theme of the archetype it is possible that such might also be possible with the tiers that allowed for the creation of archetypes, but I can't be certain that would be the case. So basically $300 and higher might be able to, while $500+ should be able to if they wish.

Silver Crusade

Hmm, for the playtesting is it set in stone to go through Drivethru and then we comment on here, i guess?

Or were you planning to also use Google Docs? Being able to put up certain notes on specific passages is nice, but if the document isn't set up for it no biggie :3

AlgaeNymph wrote:

You asked what archetypes and class features would do that since there were few if any in the Paizo canon. That was the question I meant.

AlgaeNymph wrote:

.. you asked that? Sorry, it's been a long week - I must have missed that.

Anyway, as Tokalla said, any of the upper level tiers would work. You might be able to negotiate with Christina to do a spell instead of one of the lesser options (so potentially for a $150 level) but that would be case by case and probably mean that was the only thing you got to make. I'm one of the writer/designers - business decisions (like pledge levels) are beyond my pay grade.

AlgaeNymph wrote:

I'm glad! And yes, the spell was designed to be just as useful for any alignment. Even the "pay with a baby" ones - wouldn't that make an awesome backstory for a paladin or oracle (that she was the child of a celestial raised by the church)?

AlgaeNymph wrote:
...While I'm thinking about that, I've another questions. Will The Book of Passion have any advice on sexualizing adventure paths?

Not specifically. There is the chapter on how different society alignments get dealt with, so it would be easy enough to simply apply those to a given culture. For example, if the game is taking place in Cheliax (such as Hell's Vengeance or Hell's Rebels), and the GM decides to make Cheliax sex-positive, they could look up "Sex-Positive Lawful Evil" in the Book of Passion and see how that would affect society.

Here is a short piece of that section:

"Control and discipline are the two most valued traits in a lawful evil sex-positive society. Those who take control are viewed as strong and capable; those who lack discipline or lose control are seen as weak and useless. .... Love is the greatest partnership, and love between equals, while rare, is highly valued.

Virginity, meanwhile, is not valued at all - if you're a virgin, you clearly aren't working hard enough. Courtly love also has a place in lawful evil sex-positive societies, although ....

Marriage is very common and may even be legally required by a certain age. Marriages are often open, following a hierarchal structure similar to the lawful good sex-positive society. Bisexuality and homosexuality are considered normal. Same-sex marriage is legal and expected between same-sex couples."

Of course, that chapter is equally useful for GMs attempting to create societies for a new setting.

I have NO idea. Again, that is a question for Christina - I just do design.

Amusingly, the backstory for my half-succubus antipaladin of Calistria was that his mother (a chaotic evil Calistrian priestess) used planar binding and negotiated with a succubus to impregnate her, using unspecified rituals to assure she gave birth to twins, one of whom was the succubus' payment. Planar lover seems to have been something that would have worked well with that backstory.

Indeed!

Yeah, the spell is supposed to work exactly that way (well, that's one of the three options). At first I was like "well, we don't really need a new spell since you CAN use Planar Binding - but then I realized that there is no official way to use children as payment or pay with one's own body (both of which are classic tropes).

Oh! Speaking of which, one of our Bestiary entries is for making a full on half-succubus (rather than a basic Half Fiend). So the Book of Passion would be useful for two aspects of your character (at least).

Demons Revisited has a Half-Succubus and Tome of Horrors has the Alu Demon I believe so I'm definitely interested to see what you make :3

I did not know about that being in Demons Revisited (I don't own that one). Well crap. Still, OUR version uses stuff far more recent than 2013, so... there's that.

Also, we revised the basic Succubus entry, so we'd need a unique version of half-succubus to match.

Edit: Oh, and yes, I knew about Alu fiends. I LOVE Alu fiends, so this was my way to sneak them into the book.

Silver Crusade

Yay!

Nope, just a bard with groupees.

And innuendo-laden missions. You should seriously see the Cheliax faction missions in the earlier Pathfinder Society adventures (Seasons 1-4, I think).

To everyone who backed at a creator level (ie $150+ to create something for the book): I'm going to create a google doc that you can access (initially to view, and then I'll give permissions to edit). If you PM me here, I will send you the links.

I'd like to coordinate and get an idea of what everyone is planning to work on (or has already started working on).

My girlfriend and I love to read the Cheliax missions for that exact reason. They're just dripping with over the top innuendo.

I know the focus is on the book for now, but Christina, I really hope that you'll have a chance to write that passion-themed adventure stretch goal that wasn't reached. While there have been several sourcebooks written about sex for d20, I've only ever seen two adventures with that focus (and they were passed around the fan community, rather than being published).

Submitted my backer survey. I can't wait.

Eh, I suppose I won't be participating in the playtest. Facebook, bleh.

Did I mention previously that I only have a facebook account now because it was required by my employer? Yeah.

Still, if anyone wants to do a bit of non-official playtesting and send me the results (via post in this thread or PM), I would appreciate it.

Could we not just go straight into Google Docs?

Obviously not allow other people to edit anything but anyone can put notes on stuff.

I am glad to see I am not the only one that would prefer not to use Facebook (I utterly loathe it).

Using something else like Google Docs and giving unofficial feedback would likely be much more palatable to me (I haven't completely ruled out using Facebook yet, but I would love to avoid it...much like I have for many years now).
