Hello all, I have converted over an old D&D Adventure - B5 Horror On The Hill, for my campaign, and I have reached the end of the adventure with the final encounter, in the old adventure the final encounter is a Red Dragon. Being that Dragons are pretty powerful in Pathfinder, the Red Dragon is no exception, and a party of 4 level 3's could not hope to take on a dragon at this point, but I would like to have an epic finish that this adventure deserves, is there a dragon like creature that they could face with the same epicness as a red dragon, if there is not a dragon like creature that is good for this could you suggest something else just as epic? All advice is needed. Thank you!

Flame Drake?
Wyrmling dragons? (Comes in many colors) a CR 4 is a wyrmling Magma Dragon. And I see other Wyrmling Dragons in the 4-6 range.

If you want epic, I thought you might want CR-5, maybe with a few CR-1 or CR-2 minions. And I guessed you'd want Large or bigger. So when I went to the Bestiary Global Index (PRD), I used the following search criteria:
> The non-Bestiary books unchecked
> Challenge Rating: 5
> Creature Type: Dragon
> Creature Subtype: n/a (I haven't found an effective way to use this yet)
> Climate & Terrain: Planar Encounters hid & unchecked, but otherwise n/a (You can easily refine this further based on the adventure)
> Size: Large & bigger (Everything I got was Large, however)
> Additional Filters: not touched (I've found these to be toxic)

What I got were two drakes: Flame and Mist. Actually, I also got the CR-6 Jungle Drake, evidently as a mistake.

I also tried changing the Creature Type to Humanoid, expecting a crowd, and got only four: the Cyclops, the Troll & Scrag Troll, and the Ved.

You can play around from there, depending on the nature of the preceding adventure. You may want to set Climate & Terrain, for instance, or hone in on a specific Creature Type that showed up a lot. Have fun!

I actually stuck with what the monster originally was which was a Red Dragon, I used the Young Red Dragon (still brutal for our level), but I am always amazed at what can be accomplished under pressure...We will see how this pans out.

Wow! Just so you understand what you're doing, a CR-7 critter would have a 50% chance of killing off the whole party. Not really, because of action economy, but of killing someone? Oh, yeah. And your dragon is CR-10! It has a 50% chance of killing vs. a level 6 party.

You might at least give it the Degenerate template, which drops it to CR-9.

And check out this wonderful doc I found here on the boards: GM's Guide to Creating Wonderful Encounters. Please.

I lowered the creature to a CR 6 using the monster advancement tables,
I am not using the full you red dragon stats, sorry I should have been more clear.

CR 6 Red Wrymling

There is also the Very Young Red Dragon

The Wyrmling with say 1-2 Kobald lackie would be a nice tough final boss fight.
