Interest Check for a Series of Unfortunate Events-esque Game

Recruitment

Minister Pain checking in to see if anyone's interested in a game about awful things happening to children. Players would take the roles of said children, naturally.

I've got a recruitment post basically done but I am new to these shores and figured I'd test the waters first.

Sounds like it could be interesting, but I won't be able to say for sure until I see some kind character creation stuff.

Thinking 2 level, low point buy, all classes on the table, mainly core races.

No weird child template shenanigans, save an optional bump down to small size.

I could get on board with this. I assume/hope we're not necessarily limited to the tropes/archetypes presented by the Beaudelaire children? As fun as it would be to RP the baby, seems off for the medium lol.

No, no. It wouldn't be a pathfinderized version of the series, but rather somewhat stylized in that vein.

Awesome. I'll think up a character as soon as you decide on recruitment proper.

I'm down for that, just finished watching the new Netflix series of it and i'm kind of into the series agai

Funnily enough, I actually haven't seen the new series. I may have to watch for some inspiration!

Its pretty good Neil Patrick Harris does Olaf well

I am interested.

I'd be very interested, there's definitely a lot of potential for some good characters and company.

I'd like my kid to be an investigator with the empiricist archetype, if allowed. And I'll take you up on the option to be Small. Seems like it would be a good fit for the campaign.

Now with the "bump down" would that turn an already small character, e.g. a halfling or gnome, down to a tiny character or would they simply stay small. Because a tiny halfling rogue might be kind of fun.

Undecided at the moment.

Are you hoping for a group of seemingly average group of children who have to survive by their wits and what they can find in their environment or are you looking for a ragtag group of supernatural children, where this one can melt minds with her brain, that one can benchpress a fully grown man when hes mad and that one over there can make a bomb out of pocket lint, cheetos and Mamas home cooking.

I guess the question is how high-fantasy do you want?

Ditto weapons. If someone brings a fighter or barbarian to the table, are they expected to be unarmed? Or only use improvised weapons? Can they have their own greatsword?

Somewhere down the middle of the road. Dangerous children thrown into even more dangerous situations.

The scenario I had in mind would see the characters being provided with basic equipment, including combat gear. Essentially, 1st level wealth on 2nd level characters.

Liberty's Edge

I must say this looks nice. Can't account for my availability, but if I can find a spot I'd like it.
