I'd go with a level of Samurai as opposed to a level of Cavalier. Resolve gives you a reroll for will saves which I'd value over a teamwork feat at this point.

I'd also consider the Exciter Spiritualist archetype. Has a Rage-equivalent ability that can be used to buff either Str and Con or Dex and Cha, or all four for half as much. Don't see any reason why you couldn't use the Exciter's Rapture to buff Dex and Cha while using rage to buff Str and Con at the same time, and the dex buff would be good when you're using your ranged abilities.

There's the FAQ that you can't have 2 "rage or rage like" effects on at once, if you do get two, you pick which one is used and don't have the other.

I was not aware of that. Still, having a dex boosting rage option would be a good option for this build to help with the ranged attacking.

Be a dex based scaled fist monk and then rage for +2 to hit and damage and net +2 to AC.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Okay so I theorycrafted this a good while ago, and this is what I had at the time:

Cleric (Crusader) 1
Barbarian 1
Fighter 1
Ranger (Guide, Trapper)1
Paladin (Divine hunter) 1
Monk (Zen Archer) 1
Cavalier (Luring) 1
Holy Vindicator 1
Chevalier 1
Wizard 1
Arcane Archer 1
Divine Scion 1
Inheritor's Crusader 1
Cyphermage 1
Hellknight 1
Justicar 1
Bard (Arcane Duelist) 1
Battle Herald 1
Student of War 1
Low Templar 1

Feats (some from class features): Point-Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Weapon focus (longsword), Weapon focus (longbow), Alignment Channel, Deadly Aim, Improved Unarmed Strike, Target of Opportunity, Iron Will, Skill Focus (Knowledge (religion)), Scribe Scroll, Clustered Shots, Cypher Magic, Manyshot, Combat Expertise, Arcane Strike, Improved Precise Shot

At the end, this nets +14 BAB, +22/+8/+17 saves, a ton of situational bonuses to your pretty decent ranged combat abilities (thanks in no small part to flurry with a bow), a familiar, channel energy, bardic performance, a familiar, a mount, CL 3 in Cleric, CL 2 in Wizard, CL 1 in Bard.

I'm sure there are some replacements I could make now, especially since the Advanced Class Guide added several useful hybrid classes. For example, there is absolutely no reason that I shouldn't switch the one Barbarian level to Unchained Barbarian and then add a level of Bloodrager. :-D

I see that you mentioned Occultist in your opening post, but everyone else seems to have dismissed it. I just want to point out that Occultist is an exceedingly good single-level dip.
Sure, you're unlikely to have high INT, so your Mental Focus will be minimal. You probably won't be able to make much use of your Resonant Powers since those require a sizeable investment of Mental Focus to do much of anything and a +1 Resistance bonus to saves or a +2 Enhancement bonus to a physical ability score are nothing to write home about after a few levels.
However, once you can afford a +1 weapon, the ability to just slap Foo-Bane or Ghost Touch on it for a minute is incredibly useful. And if you don't have a magic weapon yet, you can make it magical for a minute. Battle Host is probably what you'd want to go for since although it loses the second implement at level 1, you have little reason to not dump it all into Transmutation, anyway. Battle Host also starts play with a specific suit of armor, weapon or shield, so you can just grab a Masterwork Anything for free.
Yes, it's a BAB+0 class, but I think Legacy Weapon alone makes up for it. Anyone can appreciate an extra 2d6+2 damage.

Lvl 1: Savage Technologist Barbarian (12HP, 6 rounds of rage per day that give +4 Str/+4 Dex/+2 Will, +10ft movement) Power Attack

Lvl 2: Dual Cursed Oracle of Lore (Free re-roll for you, the party and enemies. Some lvl1 spellcasting which is negligible but could be fun, and allows wand use)

Lvl 4: Trapper Guide Ranger (Trapfinding, ranger's focus once per day for +2 hit/+2dmg)

Lvl 7: Unchained Monk of Many Styles (pummeling charge)

Lvl 9: Avenger Vigilante (+4 to your favorite face skill)

Lvl 10: Furious Guardian (Chosen ally, guard dedication, rage)

Lvl 11: Courser Swashbuckler (Deeds/Panache, Dodge Bonus Feat, +5ft movement speed)

1 Monk (Zen Archer) - PBS, Bonus: Precise Shot
2 Barbarian (Savage Technologist) - Deadly Aim
3 Ranger (Hooded Champion)- Weapon Focus (Longbow)

How are you getting Deadly Aim at level 2?
The requirements for Deadly Aim are Dex 13 and 1 BAB, whilst the Monk would qualify when Flurrying with his bow at level 1 I prefer Point Blank Shot & Precise Shot to start with, by level 2 he has a 'genuine' BAB of 1 from the Barbarian level so is able to use Deadly Aim whenever he pleases.

My question isn't about the pre-reqs. Its how are you getting a feat at level 2. The Barbarian doesn't get a free feat. Are you retraining a level 1 human feat?

Yeah, I'm glad so many people have had similar ideas, I was worried the only response might be, "That's dumb!" but it's been the exact opposite :D

@Red Griffyn, looks like I moved around the various class levels and just forgot to move that feat along with whatever was originally there, that's all :)

I'll contribute to this stupid awesome thread. :-)

Here's a build I've been noodling around with for a couple of weeks now.

1 Barbarian (mad dog): animal companion, Mounted Combat feeat
2 Brawler (wild child): +1 animal companion
3 Bloodrager (bloodrider): +10 ft. mvmnt for any mount, Boon Companion feat (class level +4)
4 Fighter (unbreakable): Endurance/Diehard bonus feats
5 Cavalier (gendarme): Ride-By Attack feat, Spirited Charge bonus feat
6 Hunter (primal companion): pool of evolution points for animal companion
7 <please hold>
8 <please hold>
9 Mammoth Rider

Level 7 animal companion by level 7 and two levels of something to play with. Still working on that.

High there! First post on this messageboard. In fact, that thread pushed me to create an account and post. I find the idea of stacking first level class abilities Genius. I will post some of my ideas and questions overtime, but for now here's a build inspired by Deadpool (because with such a small attention span, he can't be expected to have more than one lvl of a given class!):

1 Unbreakable Fighter
2 Verminous Hunter (kill pet, gains Fast Healing 1 permanently)
3 Savage Technologist Barbarian (+10 ft movement, OP Rage, Fast Healer to maximise FH)
4 Brawler (Brawler's Cunning, Martial Flexibility, Martial Training)
5 Urban Id bloodrager (Going with Lust if GM agrees, Anger otherwise)
6 Mysterious Stranger Gunslinger (Cha for Grit, Gunsmith, Deeds)
7 Courser Swashbuckler (Deeds/Panache, Dodge Bonus Feat, +5ft movement speed)
8 Steel Falcon (Enemy of slavers, heart of freedom, sailor and survivalist)
9 Trapper Guide Ranger (Trapfinding, ranger's focus once per day for +2 hit/+2dmg)
10 Martial Artist Monk (Flurry of Blows, Bonus Feat, lvl2 fists)
11 Vanguard Slayer (Studied Target, +1 Initiative)
12 Sword Saint Samurai (Challenge, Resolve, Iaijutsu Strike)
13 Furious Guardian (Rage, Rage power, Chosen ally)
14 Living Monolith (Soul's Stone)
15 Gendarme Cavalier (Bonus Feat, Mount... ditch the mount)
16 Low Templar (Crusader, Flag of Convenience)
17 Pain Taster (Pain Focus, Masochism, Scourge)

Verminous hunter has been errata'd, no longer gives fast healing.

Id bloodrager's can't be urban, both mess with casting and that's a no go.

Oh! I wasn't aware of this FAQ, thanks. Looks like I would need to shuffle some classes around and change Verminous Hunter for Feral and Id Bloodrager for Spelleater (if Fast Healing is still something I want...). Will think more about it and post another build later.
