You mean that guy who directed Book of Henry?

Yeah, he needed to go.

This is Disney we are talking about.
They must have 100% control and everyone better walk the party line.

Snoke Trading Card

Very clear image of what he actually looks like. Unfortunately, no real resemblance to Ezra.

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

A gut reaction to 'somehow Anakin made it' is tempered by the fact that it could be a fusion-fried Emprah...

Dark Archive

We were wondering if the scale of the Resistance ships in formation, some speculated they were gunship class. They are Heavy Bombers.

New Resistance Heavy Bomber and TIE Silencer

That definitely looks like a gunship, not a starfighter.

To be fair, Forest Whitaker didn't have a whole lot of resemblance to cgi Saw Gerrera. That said, I don't think they'd retread a Rebels character for such a central role in the new trilogy.

The Last Jedi behind the scenes footage.

Happy Friday all.

From the article

Spoiler:

"New leaks reveal dramatic scenes featuring Kylo Ren on Mustafar and start to explain why the Knights of Ren have been so conspicuously missing from all Last Jedi merchanising, imagery and footage... Until now."

"Mike Zeroh cites sources at Pinewood and other Star Wars sets around the world.

He says: “A report a few months ago said the sequel trilogy would be returning three planets we have seen in the Star wars movies – Endor, Mustafa and Tattooine.

“We have heard that Mustafa will be used in The Last Jedi for a small segment."

"If it is just a short scene, it only makes sense this is a flashback. In Rogue One they introduced Darth Vader’s Castle on Mustafa. This was also done for future films. There is a great chance Kylo will be leading the Knights of Ren to Darth Vader’s castle to recover artefacts."

Kylo's obsession with his grandfather was set up in The Force Awakens when he was shown gazing at Vader’s burned helmet and talking to it like an entirely sane little psychopath. Other reports have speculated that Kylo Ren will be seeking a fragment of Vader’s shattered lightsaber to help complete his own imperfect blade."

"The sequel trilogy seems to be incorporating many more aspects of Star wars lore, with references to the Book of Whills at the Jedi temple. StarWarsTheory also revealed that Luke Skywalker has an ancient compass that seems to use the Force for some mystical purpose.

The latest leaks also finally shed some light on the total absense of the Knights of Ren so far in the build up to Episode 8.

Fans have sensed a disturbance in the Force. What is being hidden?"

Spoiler:
- Supreme Leader Snoke's specific Force powers, include Force Chokes, Force Throws, and telepathy ... which pretty much means that it was indeed his voice that Rey heard on Starkiller Bass, when he was telling her to kill Kylo. This is in both the novelization and the original script.

- Luke has been on Ahch-To for several years, debunking any theory that he's only been there for a for a shorter period of time.

- There are eight Praetorian Guards who dutifully watch Supreme Leader Snoke. They are armed with whip-staffs and double bladed pole arms (yet to be named). All human, therefore debunking theories they are advanced combat droids. Or Noghri. Also making it highly unlikely they are the six Knights of Ren. This number is far smaller than The Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guard, which in some estimates were placed at over 50,000.

- We get to see a new speeder on Canto Bight, the Cantonica Zephyr GB - 134, used by security officers.

- Porgs are avians. Who knew?

New trailer (Somewhat spoiler-ish)

Scarab Sages

I liked the trailer, but the Porgs, ugh, the old man in me is totally screaming "WHY ANOTHER JAR JAR?" while the kid in my youth is saying "Hey you liked the ewoks when you were a child."

Sovereign Court

latest trailer:
I am picturing a "you kill snoke, i'll kill luke" from the trailer :)

Are "Porgs" that screaming skinned furby thing???

They better not jarjar this movie.

That will kill the franchise dead.

Porg

Yes they are.

I highly doubt the Porgs will get as much screen time as Jar-Jar.

I AM excited for Chewie being in the pilots chair though...

And Finn gets his own epic battle it looks like. That's awesome.

Also, I think Kylo Ren is gonna be amazing.

The new trailer had me in awe.

Eh, anything Star Wars has me in awe. However, specifically I liked Finn's fight, Kylo's narration "you HAVE to kill it" and Poe's words "ignite a flame that burns the First Order".

But, I liked the entire speech by Saw in the Rogue One trailer and it wasn't even in the final movie so...

It does seem to be less derivative than TFA. Still skeptical.

Things that got my attention:

Luke's look of apprehension (fear?) delivering this line:
"I've seen this raw strength only once before. it didnt scare me enough then. It does now."

The Finn vs. Captain Phasma

Kylo Ren hesitating to fire...

Luke's look of shock at Rey cracking the floor...

Kylo's outstretched hand.

This looks like the chapter where everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

+10 to the above statement.

I did not know this is a thing I wanted until now. I want a full-length movie of Chewie as the lead figuring out (and demonstrating onscreen) he's actually as great a pilot as Wedge Antilles.

Guess we won't see the chelonian type Force nuns in action til December.

Have to see movie of course but I'm uncomfortable with the implied sexual violence in the Snoke-Rey scene.

I think a solo Chewie movie would be amazing. I'm not 100% certain if the Wookie long lifespan thing is still canon (I think it is) but maybe after the current trilogy is over we can get one set in the future with an "Old Man Chewbacca" vibe.

What about only wookies movie?

It didn't really look that way to me, but I guess I can see it.

I bet it'll be less so in full context.

Wow, I definitively didn't see that! In fact, I just watched the trailer again (for about the twentieth time :) and Snoke is pretty clearly torturing Rey - she's in physical agony. I certainly don;y see any kind of "sexual violence". I think you might be reading something into that which isn't there?

I am so conflicted by this sentence...

It's only a second or two long and we're seeing it completely out of context, but that scene made me uncomfortable too. It wouldn't be the first time that the depiction of physically torturing a woman in mass media carried a subtext (or implicit meaning) of sexual assault for titillation purposes. To be clear: I certainly don't think that (director) Rian Johnson or his assistant directors/camera folk had that intent consciously in their heads while framing/setting up and shooting that particular shot. And yeah, it's totally out of context. But I had the exact same immediate visceral response that JtJ had when I first saw it.

It's possible I am, sure. I think the positioning of her body (nearly supine as she's being blasted) especially tripped my alarms.

I REALLY hope Rey doesn't join the Dark Side...

I like Wedge, and I haven't even read the well-regarded Rogue Squadron novels. I don't mean to undermine his exceptional talent and hard-earned skills as a pilot, especially in a setting where Jedi ex machinma are running around. I just think Chewie has put in his time as a supporting character, and he needs to shine as a lead. And I'd like to see some non-human races break the monopoly on human exceptionalism in the Star Wars universe.

But Chewie gets a planet dropped on him..oh wait..that was waived off.

Thank the force

Yeah, I don't get the sexual stuff from the Snoke/Rey conflict in the trailer either.

@Ambrosia Slaad Read the Rogue Squadron novels if you have time, they are awesome.

@Black Dougal Yeah, that was a stupid decision. It should have been Han. That would have made the entire NJO series better.

Less than an hour after the trailer dropped, director Rian Johnson said the latest trailer was a little too spoilerly for his liking. About 9 hours ago he said he retracts the earlier statement and we should all watch the trailer.

I'm sure this is all fun and misdirection from the marketing team behind TLJ, but would'nt it be fun if this was what occurred -

From her meditation chamber Kathleen Kennedy sees Rian's tweets not to watch the trailer. Using the power of even the Darker Side of the Force, she Force Chokes Rian from half a continent away.

In his head he hears her heavy breathing and her words, "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations Director, Bob Iger is not as forgiving as I am."

Rian dutifully goes on Twitter to retract his earlier statement.

You forgot the part where they contact Lucas to say it sucks to gain approval from slighted fans.
