Honestly, though, in my opinion, a clone is the only real way to make the Secret Skywalker angle on Rey to be remotely compelling. I mean, pulling an X23:Logan as Rey:Anakin could work, but we've seen that once this calendar year already. So my best hope is that there is no Secret Skywalking whatsoever, but if there is, let is be a clone.

I hope Rey isn't related to anyone from the saga so far in any way. It's ok to have heroes who aren't related to other heroes. In fact having them all be related makes the universe feel tiny. One of my biggest annoyances with the prequel trilogy is 3PO being built by Anakin. What's wrong with him having been built in a droid factory like all the other protocol droids?

Honestly, I disliked both R2 and 3PO being in the prequels. It felt very forced to me, I would have rathered there be different droids.

Example: Chopper and AP-5 from Rebels are cool characters in their own right.

There was a long ago quote by Lucas where he indicated that R2 and 3PO were the only characters to be in all nine movies. Y'know, back in the alternate reality where we would get episode 1 in 1986, episode 7 in 1995 and the entire 9 episode saga wrapped up in 2001. Now a lot of things changed that were said back then, but it seems the concept was always for them to be in the prequels.

Just saying...

Every contract can be renegotiated, and I have no doubt that Disney would eventually come to Mr. Lucas (or the executors of his estate) with a pitch like "hey, there's this new video format out there on which Star Wars has never been available, we want to do a lavish collector's edition with every version of every Star Wars film (like they did for Blade Runner), how does 30% sound?"

Disney owns the whole kit and kaboodle. which is why they made a 4 billion dollar purchase of it, and can do whatever it wants.

If she's a clone tho...does she really have "parents".

Theory confirmed.

So, is the Snoke is Ezra Bridger theory still kicking?
If Rey was his and Sabine's daughter, it would be similar to Luke and Darth Vader from A New Hope.

And neither of them were in Force Awakens ;)

Oooh, that's another awesome theory. My daughter would be pumped if Rey was Sabine's daughter.

Your daughter? I myself would be pumped!

I doubt very much that any major reveal in the main Star Wars movies is going to depend on knowledge of either of the animated series. They just didn't have the same size of audience. It doesn't work when the curtain is finally pulled away for the dramatic reveal and 90% of the audience is going "who?"

References and Easter Eggs and things like that are great and will be there, but nothing like Rey's parentage or the main villain's real identity.

Completely agree! Only a fraction of movie-going Star Wars fan watch or have knowlege of the animated shows.

I personally am getting more on board with the theory that Rey is Obi-wan Kenobi's granddaughter. There seems to be a number a factors that could back this up in fact ...

I LOVED the "Clone Wars" cgi animated series and am a huge fan of "Star Wars Rebels". Netflix is taking away "Clone Wars", I think, so the collection is going on my Christmas wish list.

I recently saw a rumor about the first thing Luke says to Rey in The Last Jedi.

Spoiler:
Apparently he asks, "Who are you?".

That has apparently been debunked. He does say that line, but apparently it isn't his first line to her ...

It would certainly be one of my first questions. Some kid shows up in a friend's ship and just holds out a weapon? That would certainly be on the list of questions, probably after a 'Did you want something?', 'what is wrong with you?', or 'Are you capable of basic speech and manners?'

As for the title... Plural or singular, doesn't matter. We've rather been here before. "The last of the Jedi will you be." Doesn't give much hope for something more than a heavy handed rehash, complete with training montage.

Baron, after your following link, I just spent the better part of an hour doing google searches trying to affirm my hazy, prepubescent memories of Don-Wan Kihotay. May the Force be with you.

Sovereign Court

April fools?

Scarab Sages

Yeah it's a link to the old comic by the same name.

(Apparently we have two Last Jedi threads. Hmmm. Also, trailer is here)

This is a bit non-sequitar-ish, but it brightened my morning considerably: Tiny Jyn Erso hand delivers Death Star plans to Leias and an R2

If Disney made a SW movie with Jaxxon the Lepus Carnivorous, I would faint from sheer joy.

EDIT: Seriously, they need to turn that whole story from Marvel Comics into a movie. Try to imagine a film that is best described as 'Star Wars meets Godzilla by way of The Magnificent Seven'.

I just hope that the rumors/leaks about the "Big twist" aren't true.
Though given that the trailer confirmed that there is at least some truth to the rumors/leaks I'm not optimistic.

Out of curiosity, what rumors/leaks about the "Big twist" are you referring to? Definitely put your response in spoiler tags! :)

You know the rumor mill, someone sees it one way and extrapolates.
Whether or not it is accurate will be determined when the movie comes out.

That's why I don't seek out those rumors, I'd rather spend my time thinking about something else than speculating what a move being released in 8 months might contain :-)

Here goes.

Movie plot spoiler:
Rey is the reincarnation of the founder of the Jedi Order and perhaps one of the two original Force Users.

A set of twins was living on a plant and they discover a Mystical Tree. Near this tree they are stronger, faster, more aware and can perform miraculous feats. Eventually the Twins get strong enough that they can take their powers with them. They attract a following, at some point the Boy grows angry at his sister and kills her. As she lay dying the Girl tell her followers that she will be reborn; this is the Origin of the Myth of the Chosen One.

Anakin wasn't the Chosen One, just a child with freakishly High Force Attunment and probable creation of the Sith.

There were others but the most recent trailer confirmed that the gist of the the rumors/leaks are correct.

Yeah, I hope that's BS too. The Chosen One mythology in the Star Wars films have never been all that interesting to me.

I hope so to, however to much in the Featurett lines up with the leaks/rumors for them to not be at least partially true.

May the Force of Others be with us all, come December.

May the Force give us an Empire Strikes Back at least.

In the terms of quality I agree.

When it comes to sharing a similar story structure, I hope not.

That I think won't be the problem. Rian and the cast have said that it will be VERY different. And Rian is very good at writing original and great stuff.

I had to turn that off after 10 seconds.

Yeah, I've tried to watch them a couple times but can never get more than a few minutes in before turning them off. Definitely too obnoxious and waaaaay over the top!

I can't sit through that crap long enough to get any news from it.

Yeah, it's a little hopped up.

Well, back to my reddit feeds. :p
