That one has had a bit of a tangled development history, as the first developer got hired to a new job and the second has had some significant health problems that are just now resolving, but after conversation looks like it should be ready to go by the end of the month. I'm polishing up the backmatter articles in and around the rest of the work, so as long as we get everything to layout in time we should have it out and ready for GenCon!

Jason, Jolly, long time, guys. I'm psyched to hear work proceeds on Gunslingers. I need that, particularly if it has some tech support. I'm intrigued by Forest Archetypes, but not sold. Is there a sample character at the end, Jolly-style? I need some love for a gryphon/giant eagle- rider.

It's a fabulous book with a ton of great content (I think over 25,000 words), but no sample NPC this time around. There *is* the unicorn charger prestige class, however, which is mighty tasty!

I've had my wheat fields busy with other stuff, so I haven't been able to do sample characters, but I can promise that Legendary Gunslingers will continue on with the Black Chain of events; even if we haven't gotten to the main villain himself. Right now the sample character in waiting, Rosa Dorado, is still being brainstormed along with the mechanics and art, so we're making progress on this as fast as we can. I'm glad to be back in the LG saddle though.

Black Chains. Been waiting for that one. Thought you said it would be in Occult Archetypes 2? This time of year my time is precious and my funds are spread thin across my habits and hobbies. Bicycles and nerf guns. Books and cards. Women. I need to be enticed. How about a preview of that charger class?

Of course now I have to get excited for Ultimate Armies.

I bought the Volretz PDF, and while I loved it, I found a formatting error. The page with the map of Morkansia appears to share a page with most of the info for it. As in, the map covers up all the info, so it can only be found in the PDF by highlighting the page and copy-pasting it somewhere else.

I'm worried the info would be inaccessible from the print copy as a result.

Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know! We have gone back and fixed the problem there and are uploading the fixed file to our various sites now!

I've been busy absorbing Royal Tournaments, but I did just want to pipe up about Legendary Worlds: Volretz.

I love the Heavy Metal elemental. Makes me wonder if there's a Thrash Metal elemental out there somewhere. Or possibly a Light Metal elemental which explodes on contact with water. Damn, a Sodium Elemental would be nasty.

Anyway, bad puns over, back to tournaments.

Kind of bringing this in from another older thread, but is this still happening?

I also got distracted with some suggestions people had made for a follow-up to Ultimate Rulership, focusing on either strongholds and castle building or on nobility and noble characters (or perhaps both), so there's been some idea-work there as well.

Yes. Not sure about the nobility and noble characters bit (I'd love to see it, but I'm not writing it), but I'm tackling Ultimate Strongholds, which has been in progress for some time and I can't wait to be able to share it with you all - when it's eventually finished (I have another project to finish for Jason, first).

Well that is good to hear. The Ultimate series is my favorite series of supplements and I'm glad to see more work going into. I'm still hoping for that nobility stuff though.

Another Ultimate Book? Ooo...can't wait for that.

Well, there's still Ultimate Armies to come out, too, we're not done with the Ultimate Plug-Ins yet.

Just stream-of-consciousness musing, here, some of this is a bit outside my design expertise, but would the following sound like the kind of things people would like to see for nobles and nobility:

Feats, archetypes for PC classes, magic items, spells, traits, a PC version of the noble NPC class, and rules for social climbing, intra- and inter-family dynamics, and change of noble rank within a kingdom?

Now I'm putting some serious thought into this...

In the wake of our awesome Alien Bestiary Kickstarter (it's not too late to email us with pledge if you want to hop on board!) and a ton of terrific sci-fi supplements in September, Legendary Games now turns to a Fall of Fantasy, and where better to begin than the public release of our previous Kickstarter project, the fantastic Forest Kingdom Campaign Compendium! This fabulous 424-page encyclopedia of adventure is an incredible resource for any wilderness campaign, especially one featuring the fey, with tons of character options, spells, magic items, feats, monsters, and so much more, including rules for tournaments and festivals, sample characters and kingdoms on the borderlands of the wild, and a wealth of incredibly rich material dealing with faeries and the fey realms! You can grab the PDF right now at the Legendary Games webstore, Open Gaming Store, Paizo, and DrivethruRPG, and you can preorder the print version and print/PDF bundle exclusively at the Legendary Games webstore!

The 5th Edition version of the Forest Kingdom Campaign Compendium is nearly done in layout and will be going out to our Kickstarter backers first, and then out in general release later. The PDF will be released first, but the print version and print/PDF bundles will also be available for preorder right here at the Legendary Games webstore!

We have a ton of great new books coming in October, including Eldritch Elementalism, Malevolent Medium Monsters, The Horseshoe Calamity, and of course more sci-fi fun coming soon. However, we also are excited to revive our TWO$DAY product of the week, even kicking it off a day earlier with the amazing Ancient Tombs, recent recipient of Endzeitgeist's 5-star seal of approval (read his review here)! You can get this amazing 36-page supplement of spells, curses, traps, lore, and so much more, exploring all things tomb-tastic and terrifying for 70% off only at the Legendary Games webstore for just $2!

Last but by no means least, we are delighted to continue our contributions to disaster recovery and relief. Our Heroes for Harvey bundle was a great success, as was the multi-publisher mega-bundle on DrivethruRPG, and we've helped organize another one to help those in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean to recover from an unbelievable succession of hurricanes from Harvey to Irma to Jose to Katia to Maria!

Head on over to DrivethruRPG and grab the new Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Bundle, getting almost $500 worth of incredible gaming products for all kinds of systems for just $25! Even if you had a heart of stone, that's an incredible deal! We hope we can help get everyone in the mood to do even more, so whatever your favorite relief organization may be, whether international or local, we encourage you to do all you can to help the people of the Caribbean and the real-life heroes out there on the front lines!

Hello from Hobbiton! (Well, almost, I'm in Matamata, New Zealand - Hobbiton comes later tonight!)

This is a working trip so far with the fine folks at PaizoCon Oz, but I've been able to get some projects moving on down the pipe.

- Legendary Brawlers - Our latest class book focused on these marvelous martial artists is complete and ready to start layout. Legendary Gunslingers will be heading into the queue once that one is up and out!

- Fort Scurvy - This high-level pirate adventure is sailing towards the finish line at last, with me getting a lot done in terms of editing on the long flights over here. I should be done with the writing and editing by the end of the month, and this one will finally see the light of day in November for Pathfinder and hopefully for 5E too!

- Legendary Worlds: Carsis - We just released the 5E version one week ago, and the Starfinder team tells me that editing and development of the Starfinder version will be done soon as well, so hopefully we'll have that ready to release in a week or so, as we also await layout completion on The Scavenged Codex (Starfinder) as well!

- Next Monday, MALEVOLENT MEDIUM MONSTERS will be ready for you! In fact, it's already queued up and waiting for release!

- Last but not least, we've got a quick update on the Alien Bestiary project, along with a preview of a creepy creature coming your way!

That's all for now - have a Legendary Week!

Legendary Brawlers? Wow, I didn't even know that was a thing! Looking forward to getting it and Legendary Gunslingers.

Can we get any hints here on what we can expect to find in Legendary Gunslingers now that it's out?

Let me throw my dev post for LS over here, so people know more about the product:

N. Jolly wrote:

Looks like it's time for my dev post here.

Legendary Gunslinger
So I have strong opinions on guns in fantasy, and most of them are that I like guns in fantasy. The original gunslinger had a lot of potential, but felt like it wasn't evolved enough from its alternative class roots. Thus, I decided to drop it down to a 3/4 BAB class to better mesh with the touch attack nature of guns and to further differentiate it from its original fighter heritage. Add to this that I thought while interesting, deeds didn't go far enough for customization, so I added gun masteries. Gun masteries are to make sure your slinger feels even more unique, as well as making guns more than just another weapon for a legendary gunslinger.

Not only this, but the legendary gunslinger is far more adept as a skill character, having more potential with their skills, things like slinger's quirk allowing them to be even more Wisdom focused, and even getting rogue skill unlocks help make legendary gunslingers a far more interesting class outside of combat while gun masteries help them be more interesting in combat. With combat grit, your grit will last longer in battle in addition to having quite a few more reasons to use it, making everything far more dynamic. There's even new FCBs to help players customize their characters even further.

Alchemical Hotshot
Alchemy and guns are like peanut butter and guns; they're awesome. Alchemist 'casting' along with interesting metal replacement options for your bullets will help you play a real alchemy themed gunslinger. From lead to platinum, new options are the order of the day, each type of metal having different effects.

Anthem Gunner
For those who want to make that boom count, this is a mix of bard and gunslinger that helps people really play up the leader role in combat, as you're given options to play a combat maestro who can turn the tide of combat through bonuses given by your songs punctuated by gunfire.

Black Flag Bandit
Guns and pirates are best friends and with this archetype, you can fully play up the captain role while having new options for while on ships. Hell, you can even use cannons better, the most powerful of firearms.

Bullet Wizard
Stuffing magic into a gun and firing it out is how this archetype rolls, allowing one to play a ranged caster with all the same power as a gunslinger. Have fun infusing bullets with spells or even raw arcane energy and blowing people to pieces.

Crossbow Killer
We did need a new bolt ace, and this archetype is intended to be as unintrusive as possible in this way. There's even rules for allowing it to stack with archetype which it normally may not, so you can enjoy just about all of the content in this book without even a hint of black powder if that's your kind of game.

Demolition Soldier
What's better than just blackpowder? Blackpowder and bombs! A small archetype that gives the ability to add explosives into your arsenal as well as fire massive bomb bullets for even bigger kabooms!

Faded Stranger
For those of you who are 'just passing through', this archetype allows you to pass through people's memory, being nothing more than a shadow of the past. Perfect for those who want to lose themselves in the sands of time.

Firearm Striker
This archetype can be a little tough to grasp until you get the Yang of it, but if you're a fan of gun fu and other flashy forms of combat, you'll most likely find something to love here. Mixing martial arts and melee, combat is entirely unpredictable when you can switch styles on the fly.

Living Turret
Sometimes you just want to stand behind a huge gun and fire, and this archetype is perfect for that. Allowing you to be a tank with the cannon to match, this is one of the few times that using the larger firearms will not only be viable, but preferred.

Pale Slinger
I love (bad) luck as a concept, and the pale slinger works with that super well with things like hex infused bullets and their aura of misfortune. While not exactly the most party friendly, they certainly can help completely shut down foes with bad luck.

Sky Rider
Mobility's a big issue for gunslingers (or at least WAS), so I thought giving them a flying mount would basically solve every issue ever. Plus flying around on the back of a griffin with a shotgun is the best.

Solemn Traveler
Playing up more the lawman role (despite being alignment agnostic), this is the archetype for those who really love traveling with a sense of purpose, just them and their steed.

Technological Shootist
Because there's guns in the future, and you need to know how to use them. Basically our tech archetype, this helps make sure that you know how to use a blaster when absolutely needed.

Firearm Modifications
To me, firearms not having modifications initially was a huge oversight. They're such complex weapons that they should be able to switch out parts, and they try to use (some) of the rules for those presented in Adventurer's Armory 2 while keeping them more user friendly, such as not changing their proficiency level and allowing two mods instead of just one. There's a lot of obvious choices like silencers, short barrels, and sights, but probably my favorite is integrated weapon, which allows you to integrate a firearm into a melee weapon. So yeah, gunblades.

Sample Character: Theresa Diaz
Looping back around to Legendary Kineticists, Theresa's a character I've wanted to write up for a while, linking her back to Mindfang and her brother (who does have a name) as well as leading into a different project that I'm really excited about.

Final Thoughts
This was a project which I hadn't expected to have nearly as much of a hand in as I did, but once I got into the spirit of it (gun masteries certainly helped), it really started to grow on me. Guns in fantasy are always something I enjoy, and giving people dynamic options to play things is my passion. I love hearing when people use something I've written to do something amazing, and Legendary Gunslingers was made to give people those 'OMG' moments.
