The Nekomancer

Homebrew and House Rules

This is a class idea I just had, so I have next to no ideas for it. I know I want it to be based around Anime Catigirls (http://files.gamebanana.com/img/ico/sprays/_1541-.png) But that is it. I was thinking maybe having the attributes of them as part of the class or maybe even getting the ability to transfer these attributes to an ally. Maybe they even get the ability to change an enemy into a catgirl and have the power to control them for a little bit. It would a caster class, maybe even getting baleful polymorph at some point. Sorry if this seems choppy, I just had the idea, and wanted to get some help with it before I lost it.

Firstly, I notice this opening post has appeared before. Don't worry too much, the homebrew section can be slow.

Secondly, I'm not seeing enough for a full class. However, this could be an archetype for the various casters, Witch and Shaman in particular stand out for their strong association with familiars.

Thirdly, the Aspect of the Beast feat stands out as near the concept you're going for.

Fourthly, puns aside, I'm a litlle put off by the compounding of two words so far apart linguistically.

Linkified for you.

Thank you, I get so fixated on making new classes I forget about archetypes. What do you mean by 'put off' by the way?

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16

That sounds more like a character concept than a class, honestly. There's tons of ways you can build a character around being a catgirl. The simplest is being a skinwalker. You could also go magical child vigilante or wildsoul vigilante.

Mildly annoyed. The roots of the "mancy" suffix are Greek, and I much prefer when the origins of all parts of a compound word are similar. This example struck out as the first time it's been between Greek and something outside the entire Indo-European family.

Sorry, it's just something I saw online once.

Sir, I contend that the horrible pun is the best part of this idea, and will fight you to the staggered condition to keep it!

That's a good point; while Nekomancer is easily understandable, it doesn't feel right. Nekosennin (cat-mage / cat-djinn) may be an alternative.

Maybe, but "Necrosennin" is equally sacrilegious and nekosennin doesn't have the same ring to it.

As a great lover of puns, no matter the lingual origin, I'm a firm supporter of "Nekomancer".

I thought you meant Neccomancer, the dark wizards responsible for conjuring up the evil that is Necco Wafers. Yuck!

That can be the only reason why they exist. Evil Wizards. No one in their right mind would willingly eat Necco wafers.

That means my mom must be an Evil Wizard, or at least an evil wizard. Hmmm...
