Magical Learning Institutions

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

So I'm trying to make a list of magical learning institutions on Golarion. I've perused through the Pathfinderwiki and have knowledge of some off hand. I've also posted this over on the facebook Pathfinder RPG page. But Golarion is a huge place and it takes hours to search through the wiki of every major (and in some cases minor) cities to see if they have a place to teach magic. Arcane Magic specifically.

So far I have

The Golemworks (Varisia Magnimar)
Theumanexus College (Varisia Korvosa)
The Acadamae (Varisia Korvosa)
Arcanamirium (Absalom Wise Quarter)
College of Mysteries (Absalom The Petals)
Clockwork Cathedral (Abasalom Merchant's Quarter) - A very specialized school for construct builders
Alabaster Academy (Cheliax Kintargo)

There is some contention on whether The Mystic's Redoubt in Port Peril is just a Library one can use or a place you can actually take classes and learn magic.

From a quick skim of my own...

The Academy of Applied Magick in Pezzack, Cheliax. It's fallen on hard times thanks to a blockade.

The Bloodstone Conservatory is located in Czarny Las, Irrisen. It focuses on teaching Conjurers and summoners.

The College of Dimensional Studies Katapesh, focuses on interdimensional travel, and astronomy.

The Magaambya in Nantambu, Mwangi Expanse is possibly the oldest arcane college in Golarian. It's very big of oral teaching.

The Occularium in Manaket, Rahadoum.

Shelad Madrassa El-Shelad, Osirion.

Stone of the Seers is in Magnimar, Varisia focuses on divination and abjuration.

Twilight Academy Galduria, Varisia. New, and considered an upstart by some.

Excellent stuff thanks

You're welcome. I'm wishing we get an official magical academy in Andoran one day, at least a little one. You would think there might be some worries about a lack of arcane defenses against Cheliax ;)

Silver Crusade

Farther out, but still on Golarion:

Spire of Avnac, in Zirnakaynin (drow city under Nirmathas), Sinocoscreil cavern

Brightwater School, Anuli, Holomog. Focus on abjuration.

Prandreh University, Radripal, Vudra. Arcane and psychic magic.

Chirographica, Ular Kel, Karazh (Casmaron).

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories, Starfinder Society Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Tower of Stars, Celwynvian, Varisia (elvish school)
Arcanist Circle Kaer Maga (The Tarheel Promenade), Varisia

Off the top of my head and with a little bit of searching:

Ebon Mausoleum (Mechitar, Geb); focuses on necromancy
Mortuarium (Yled, Geb); focuses on necromancy
Egorian Academy of Magical Arts (Egorian, Cheliax); best known for infernal binding

Dusk Hall (Pangolais, Nidal); this one's a bit weird, as it trains shadowcasters and also combines this with worship of Zon-Kuthon, but I get the sense that enrollment is not usually voluntary. The final product of such education is known as a shadowcaller

Traveling Academy of Cobyslarni (First World); it's not actually on Golarion, but still a magical academy. It sits on the back of its founder, a giant elephant-beast.

These are arcane institutions, but bardic rather than wizardly:
Kitharodian Academy (Oppara, Taldor)
Rhapsodic College (Oppara, Taldor)

Sorry you couldn't find what you were looking for, Apupunchau! I've added stub articles with sources for each of the institutions named in this thread so far, and reorganized the categories for magical studies to make them easier to find. See the new magical studies category, which contains the arcane colleges category as well as other institutions of magical study like the Arcanists' Circle and Golemworks.

I'll keep working on fleshing these categories out with other relevant articles. Thanks!

I find it odd that despite Nex being the high magic country, there are no named institutions there. At least that I can find.

Wow. I mean that was totally unexpected. I'm kinda of happy my looking for something spurned the addition of these categories. I hope they can help out other folks in the future. Thank you.
