Looking for an old school adventure...

Advice

Dark Archive

My family has a long weekend trip every year. Next year I want to run a Pathfinder adventure for some of my kids and nephews. The ages range from 10 to 25.

One of my fondest memories as a kid was playing a DnD adventure at a local gaming convention. I was 13 or 14. When I showed up there was a list of pregen characters to pick from and the adventure was gritty and fun. I want to try and give my family the same experience.

I'm looking for an adventure with a similar feel. It could be a PFS scenario, a module, whatever...just looking for suggestions for an adventure with an old-school feel for my family.

I'm going to assume
a) Many (most?) of the folks have not played table top RPGs.
b) You want to start them at Lvl 1

If those are both true, you might find some of these modules from Four Dollar Dungeons useful
Four Dollar Dungeons

Several of them have outstanding reviews

And here are some pregens for all the classes. They are limited by alignment (no evil characters). You could also limit complexity by sticking to the 11 pregens from Core Rulebook classes.

Four dollar dungeons are widely praised (and cheap!)

For a Paizo introduction to RPG-ing which hits a lot of old-school notes, I recommend: Crypt of the Everflame. It is unfortunately out of print, but the PDF is still available.

I'd recommend Stoneheart Valley, from Frog God Games. They're probably the best at the "new school rules, old school feel", and this book in particular is good for beginners, with the first adventure quite literally being designed as an introduction to the system for both players and GMs.

Thanks all. Most of them have actually played rpg's. About half have played Pathfinder and the other half DnD (4th and 5th ed). I'd like them to be around 5th level. Enough to have some fancy abilities to play around with.

The Four Dollar Dungeons look very cool. I'll check out the other suggestions too.

Thanks. I bought Holy Island and I just started reading it. I like the idea of a shipwreck sandbox adventure. The Guardians are going to be fun to roleplay. :)

Is there a good reference for the deities of this campaign world?

It is basically Golarion, so Inner Sea Gods (or here, excluding the Green Faith).

The Servitors all come from chapter four of that book. There's one per Inner Sea God - hence 20 of them.

The terms of the 3pp licence means I cannot refer to the gods themselves by name as a publisher - but you can, of course, when you're running it :-)

I always imagined Holy Island would be a great introduction to the Golarion pantheon.

Perfect! That certainly makes things easier.
