Kitsune Animal-Related Character

Advice

I am trying to find a good character match for my daughter. I hope to get her in to PFS. This is going to be hard. She absolutely loves animals and thinks that kitsune are the best thing since sliced bread. Any thoughts on a good animal-related class for a kitsune? I realize that "animal-related" is somewhat ambiguous but I'm trying to be open-minded here.

Thanks,

^3

You could all-in on "animal related" with druid. Turn into an animal, have an animal companion, the works.

You could also go for something that has a familiar, because they can take a fox that you can be fox-buddies with. Wizard, arcane bloodline sorcerer, eldritch guardian fighter, etc.

You could also just go anything that works with a kitsune and simply take fox shape. My personal favorite and a character I'm actually currently running is a psychic bloodline sorcerer that takes fox shape at level 7. A little furry fuzzball of magical death.

Yeah, it's pretty great.

Just keep in mind that it has to be a psychic sorcerer, because a character that casts with somatic components won't be able to cast while in fox shape. And at that point, why even do it, right?

Liberty's Edge

Foxform kitsune are fun.

The psycic casters work: no physical components means you can go foxform and cast spells at people.

Grr here is an adorable bundle of fluffy death. He wears a pink bow that says "this end towards enemy". Making a foxform fighter work tends to be a lil more complicated than your average hack and slash barbarian.

A kitsune sylvan sorcerer is a natural fit. Just have someone to help with the critter.

here's a guide for critters to make them easier

It's probably a little advanced for her sadly, but I have a character who's gone full on fox-tastic as a Kitsune Nine-tails Inheritor/ Bloodrager with the Kitsune-Bloodline and a DM gifted Fox animal companion (uses the wolf stats) lol.

You might take a look at the songbird of doom threads. I suspect if you could get some really good melee ideas there if you didn't want to go the casting route.

Might be kind of a complicated build for a beginner though...
