Can you recommend me some versatile characters?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hello,

I started Pathfinder ACG about 2 weeks ago and so excited how it goes =)

I already bought all the RotR decks and all WotR decks as well as 5 class decks.

My favorite characters right now are Lem (RotR) and Varril (Inquisitor CD),
since they look like can do almost everything.

I enjoy maximizing versatile characters' abilities to get through tough situations.

Can you recommend me some more versatile characters?
I'm new to this game and wanna know more =)

Thank you!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The alchemist characters tend to be pretty versatile, especially the version of Damiel in Skull and Shackles.

Mavaro from Mummy's Mask is the king of versatility.

Bekah from the Bard class deck is pretty versatile once she picks up a couple of power feats.

Olenjack from the Rogue class deck is worth checking out as well.

Siwar from the Bard deck is a favorite of mine. While she's not a character who wants to single handedly take down a bunch of monsters, she is awesome at making other characters around her more versatile (i.e. she let's other characters do all the work, then swoops in at opportune times to take the credit :P).

wow! thanks lot! gonna check them all!! +_+

I almost forgot about Lini and Seelah from Runelords. If you like Lem, you'll surely get a kick out of them.

Um..

Does Mother Myrtle allow to use her second power (When you would banish/or discard a boon ~~ you may attempt ~~ if you fail, discard it) when she gets damage??

It's helpful to fully quote powers you're asking about since there are subtle differences between variations and not everyone has the cards handy to reference.

If Mother Myrtle's power doesn't have any qualifiers on it (when you would banish or discard...for its power) is a common one, then it happens every time. If it does, then that condition has to be met first before you can use the power.

A lot has already been mentioned, but my favourite versatile character is Salim from the inquisitor deck due to his flat 1d8 on every noncombat check.
Another good, albeit late choice is Agna from the ranger class deck in her Beastmaster role, getting a flat 1d4+2 on everything while she has an animal on her hand.

Mother Myrtle's power only triggers when you play a card for its power.

I often play pretty versatile characters, too. Most have already been identified, like RotR's Lini, CD: Inquisitor Varril (and Salim to a different extent), MM's Mavaro, CD Ranger's Agna.

I'd add to the list MM's Ahmotep and CD: Summoner's Zetha. CD Summoner's Alase is also a pretty strong generalist.

I thought Salim only got 1d8 on non-combat checks vs. banes.

You're right, I forgot to mention that.

I'm more focused on smashing banes than grabbing boons, so that might explain my omission...

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

MAVARO MAVARO MAVARO MAVARO MAVARO

:-D

Silver Crusade

Maznar from the druid deck is pretty versatile. He can reveal an animal ally to add a d4 to any check, and he has good strength and divine. His d4 dex can hurt, but he can get a topaz of strength and a ruby of charisma. And d4 on everything.

thanks everyone!

so happy with more characters to look over =)

You can just take any character with lots of items in their deck list. Items are just the most versatile type of boon in the game and you can shape your character in any direction you like. Of course, there are some characters better at this (Mavaro, Damiel) but even Merisiel or other rogue or bard are still good at that.
