Gen Con 2017 GM signup?

GM Discussion

Hey everyone this is probably too early but I've been surfing the boards trying to find any info on Gen Con society games with no luck. So my question is when (even a rough estimate is nice) will the call go out for GM volunteers for Gen Con?
Also how does the signup for games work? Is there a similar system to paizo con's setup or is it more of a FCFS basis?
Any info is appreciated. Planning my first trip to Gen Con and trying to map all the dates I need to do stuff on. I have a extremely busy job so its difficult for me to remember to keep checking back if I don't plan everything ahead of time.

Last year's call for volunteers went out at the end of January. Expect a similar date this year.

Gen Con game signups are done via Gen Con's own website. Typically the game times are listed in early May and the signups go live in mid-May. Note that there is a charge per game for GenCon games. You can also buy "generic" tickets at the Con game registration booth on-site and use them if the games are not full. Some games (Specials and some sessions of new scenarios) will sell out, but there's usually a few no-shows and some of the generic holders get seated even for those games.

Ok thanks for the info! I will try to check back periodically this month. I would like to volunteer for a game or two. Definitely don't want to be a full time volunteer my first trip for it. Want to experience the con.

Last year I started out with a table or two but ended up with 5 tables.

Still had a great time at my first GenCon.

Last year I did one table, but it was during the big Special.

I'm thinking this year of judging four tables, hopefully on Thursday and Friday, if the schedule from last year holds...

I had a great time at my first Gen Con last year, I'd definitely recommend signing up to GM if you're interested in doing it. (Such a great time that I'm planning to GM a mostly full slate this year!)
