Methinks you're running afoul of this, which I admit, I only noticed myself as of yesterday...

So, I gotta ask... what is the goal of this thread? I mean, I don't think anyone that posts on Paizo is gonna disagree that he's an awful man who has done many many awful things. I don't think anyone here is gonna come up with some brilliant workable solution that stops this. I think most everyone here who bothers to pay attention to the news already knew about this dude. So... you've posted it. What are we supposed to do? What do you, BvH, want to happen from this thread?

Edit: I don't mean to be insensitive, and believe me, I can understand the need to vent when something(s) horrible happens/comes to light.

What's sad is that I do know Americans who will happily play "Duterte's Advocate" on stuff like this. They're about the sort of people you'd expect.

The President Elect, for example?

He has both admitted, and denied, [something]. That's certainly a tactic we've seen recently.

In other universes, he'd get moved up the command chain ;)

Pretty sure he was brought up in one of the Hellknight threads.

Order of the Scourge?

So poli threads no longer on hold?

Silver Crusade

Possibly. I think the thread was just looking for real world people for inspiration or some such.

Mods haven't woken up yet.

Here is a link to the original thread.

Seems we are welcome to discuss it, as long as we don't bring in politics, or wish for his untimely death.
EDIT: I personally don't see much of a difference between killing someone yourself vs. doing it with a drone, bomb, police force, etc. Duterte is little different then most of the other world leaders who kill people without a trial.

I think it is pretty much nigh impossible to not bring in politics.

With the glaring exception that the Philippines is a Democratic Republic, just like the United States of A. Indeed the county's 2nd constitution is modeled on the US own.

Slippery slope.

And this beast of a man has expressed his interest in coming on a state visit to this country. Something Washington should not allow.

As to wishing the man ill will ... I don't think a lot of people sent say Pol Pot good vibes in the 60's to 90's?

Real-world parallel to Paizo characters, everyone take a drink!

This is true, there are still many active threads on here that are political.

Then again, I'm a strong believer in "the personal is political"

In Sweden, we have an awful man, famous and far off the deep left end, Jan Myrdal, who REALLY loved Kampuchea and spewed his filth everywhere in our press about it. Just thinking about him makes me feel slightly ill.

Son of Gunnar who wrote that famous An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy, for those keeping track at home.

Gunnar told his son to be quiet in the debate because it hurt his father to have the public hear Jan's toxic blathering and dictator-hugging...

And our country kills here and abroad with drones, guns, torture, etc, including our own citizens who have been convicted of no crime.

Honestly, there is very little difference other then that our politicians hide behind others who do their killing for them.
EDIT: I guess I should bow out of this thread now because I'm already talking about politicians, and there isn't much non political stuff to be said, beyond agreeing that extra-judicial killing is wrong, mmm-kay.

What I don't get is how his approval rating is so high, 86% + or - 3.

Perhaps a cage match is needed, perhaps with a certain moldy pumpkin being operated by Don Bluthian mice bent on human (and cat) extinction.

What could go wrong? How hard can it be?
