coup de grace with spectral hand w / "Chill touch".

Rules Questions

My necromancer was on the roof away from any melee fighting. So I managed to ghoul touch an enemy as he was frozen and threw up Chill touch and wanted to coup de grace him as he was helpless but my DM said I had to be right beside him....? This is only for a bow (ranged weapon)

I mean chill touch is considered a weapon, I have to roll to hit and do dmg it's just like any other weapon...

Are spells like chill touch considered melle attacks or rather touch spells with a charge considered to be weapons for the purpose of doing a Coup de Grace?

From spectral hand: "attacking with the hand counts normally as an attack". I would allow it.

Here's the thing...

Coup de Grace

As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace (pronounced "coo day grahs") to a helpless opponent.
You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.

"Melee weapon" So is a charge like chill touch on a hand considered a melee weapon? Rather is A melee touch attack considered a melee weapon?

I would let you to use chill touch for a coup de grace even though its not technically a weapon since it can hit for a critical. Ranged coup de grace requires you to be adjacent to the target. I would require you to be adjacent just like with a bow to do a ranged CDG via spectral hand.

The real question is, do you want your opponents to start spectral handing coup de graces to you?

Chill Touch should work as a melee attack only. It's really up to your GM as to whether or not it qualifies for coup de grace. It may lack the finesse and manual dexterity for such a feat. That said, if GM says you need to be adjacent, then you need to be adjacent to the target.

Add me to those who reckon you should be able to coup de grace a target just fine with weapon-like ranged spells - as long as you are adjacent.
