So I know there are dozens of pages of discussion regarding Racial Heritage and Tails, and the devs have even chimed in explaining that the Racial Heritage feat does not, in fact, let you grow a tail (making any feats that use your tail as worthless as Combat Casting on a non-caster or Deadly Aim on someone without a ranged weapon). But what if you can take the feat with a race that naturally has a tail?
The newest Player's Companion give Kitsune a feat (Human Guise. Page 13.) that allow them to "count as both human and your race for the purpose of taking character options, such as...feats...". So they could take the Human Feat "Racial Heritage", allowing them to get access to proficiency with race-exclusive weapons such as the Ratfolk Tailblade (or the Kobold only feat Tail Slap). Now some people have noted that (at least in organized play), even if you take it, only "true ratfolk" can purchase the item (as per the rules in Advanced Race Guide), but that can be bypassed by getting a Makeshift Weapon and crafting your own Tailblade (since it's only a Martial Weapon). I've also heard at least one GM I've brought the idea up to claim that it wouldn't work because Kitsune don't have prehensile tails, but another GM countered that neither do Ratfolk.
What would you say to the idea?
And while this isn't the right forum for it, I find when I ask rulings in the Pathfinder Society board they get moved here unless I post them here first and have a mod move them, do you think (assuming Human Guise becomes legal), this will be possible in organized play (without extreme table variation) given the wording in the Additional Resources regarding equipment in Advanced Race Guide?
I don't foresee it becoming legal, simply due to the headaches Racial Heritage already gives them.
Also, I am very envious of you people who have the book already, PDF doesn't release until the 16th.
Unfortunately, PDF only subscriptions aren't a thing.
