Just Messing With Their Heads ... Or Am I?

Advice

Ok, I had an idea I think I'm going to use in my campaign to up the tension level another notch. I've figured out a way for the enemy to get samples of the PC's blood and/or flesh (at least a some of them).

I'm pretty sure that will freak them out all by itself.

1) Is there anything rules legal that can be done with that by the bad guy (high level necromancer by the way)?

2) If there isn't anything actually in the rules, got any suggestions on how I should adlib something with this?

Well, you can make Simulacrums, but they'll be pretty expensive and not very strong.

Probably helps with scrying I think?

Basically, no, nothing all that interesting by the rules. I am curious how you can get flesh and blood without being in a position to just murder them outright.

Kill them, and bring them back to life. They could reject it but probably will say yes.

Can you make clones or simalucrums and practice killing them?

Make a really freaky homebrewed homonculus. There has to be some creature that can be made from blood other than that.

I believe with flavor you could replace a material component with the blood. Esoteric components or stuff like that.

If it's an NPC you could probably handwave costs for flavor. Like murdering a simulacrum in front of them.

Maybe tricking a Good Cleric into doing a REZ on them, so they'll say yes.

Or just spying on them.

Flesh golem that looks like it's stitched together with all the party members, dm fiate and let a fabricate spell let the bad guys to creat a lot more of their flesh and skin parts. You don't need an army of them just a few hehe

Or a flesh golem for each pc I'd be like looking into a mirror if the mirror made you look like a monster

Bad guy has some extremely stealthy guys that are pretty useless in a fight. During a major combat, I'm going to have them swoop in and pick up arrows or weapons of the fallen that have successfully hit the PC's.

I like several of these ideas. Hmm... how to pick and choose...

Make Simulacrums, then make them do evil stuff in the PC's names. Then when the PC's get to a town (or whatever) they get arrested (or whatever).

Or

Make Simulacrums, then have the party get split up & meet the Simulacrums. Then nobody knows who the real ones are or who the fake ones are.

Going to get into some home brew territory:
use the blood to create a clone of the PC's. Keep these cloned versions isolated and in a hidden lab/facility. Somehow implant a modified version of the player memories into the clones, either though magic or simply treating the clones like amnesiacs and tell them "this is who you are."
From this point he preforms tests on the clones, trying to discover the players strengths and weaknesses. All the while he is also "training" the clones to become his number 1 assets.
From this point you have 2 major choices:
Choice 1, let the players discover thee facility, breaking into to destroy the litches WOMD, to discover the clones.
choice 2, release to clones into the world to commit evil acts. Tarnishing the players names, or even seeking them out to kill them.

This would be SOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOL~

In Farscape,

Spoiler:
Scorpius makes a copy of John Crichton's Personality. He implants it into his own brain trying to interrogate it for information.

Anatomy Doll. Forcing them to make Will saves against small amounts of damage and sickened at random times should be good to really mess with their heads and get them paranoid. Bonus points for inflicting that random sickened condition mid-combat, without the source of the effect being anywhere nearby. If you can manage to get a vial's worth of blood and keep it fresh (Gentle Repose, perhaps?), that should give you plenty to re-apply to the doll whenever they succeed on the save. And the cost for a set of Anatomy Dolls should be pocket change for any high-level BBEG.

I remember that being the other way around:

Spoiler:
Scorpius inserts a copy of his own personality into John's mind to learn John's secrets & at some later date extract the copy ... It's been a really long time since I've watched that show though, so maybe definitely I should watch that again.

It was both

Spoiler:
First he implanted a copy of his own personality into john's head to get his secrets; when he is having trouble interpreting those secrets, he puts a copy of johns personality into his own head for 1 episode in order to fix that.

in regards to your other question, if you have a body part of your target, they take a -10 on their will save vs nightmare. that could be fun, he attacks them in their dreams.

Also awesome!

I honestly can't really think of much, outside of simulacrums (Already discussed) and some sort of homunculus (Already discussed). I guess you could have the BBEG make some sort of super homunculus, and rather than their blood making them its master, it marks the PCs as the targets the homunculus will then hunt relentlessly? Or make a few different homunculi (homunculusses? Whatever) with each marking a different PC as the target, to appear at different times throughout the campaign? They really ought to add more rules approved rituals and such to do with blood and other body parts. Would add a bunch of fun new ways to mess with the PCs.

crawling hands also mark their targets with application of blood. Send a few out, with magical explosives strapped to them.

  • Buy Homunculus Clay.
  • Use a drop of a PC's blood on it.
  • Kill the resulting Homunculus.
For the small, small price of 750gp a pop you're doing 2d10 points of damage to a PC, at any distance.

This is actually horror gold. I am genuinely just going to steal this idea.

This would work better if a dead simulacrum didn't turn back into snow and melt instantly.

You should Veil some undead as the desecrated party instead. Nothing says fun like seeing horribly mangled versions of yourself attack you. Undead can also wait for a long time for the party to wander across them.

Scuplt Corpse is your friend. Even though they might make their save and know it was altered, it is still DEEPLY unsettling.

I've also seen it used to incriminate doppelgangers in a bloody massacre my players instigated. I don't think this trick would work on them...

I am quite partial to the clone spell.

EDIT: Add in Magic Jar or Possession for fun.
