Cheliax is popular. Cheliax has rivals, including ones who have fey problems of their own.

Andoran could touch on fey, urban, and Cheliaxian in a cold war type coolness. It also has its own awesomeness.

Funny enough my Weal and Woe idea would still work in a Tian Xia setting.

Now I'm thinking of Inspector Ishida, from 'Usagi Yojimbo'...

Dark Archive

I'd be into a theme like the planes or dragons or something.

I love the idea of cities, as a theme, particularly useful urban adventure ideas and 'the city as dungeon' notions, but that's because I have no talent in that direction (communities in my game always seem to turn into pit stops where the adventurers refuel and whatever between adventures), and am always thrilled to see idea-inspiring ideas in that vein (although I tried to mix that up with a game set in Freeport, and another set in Hollowfaust, to mixed results).

Fey or the Planes would be great topics. If it's Fey, I'll have to come with a short blurb on "rules" for goblin pickleball.

I could do a 'cities of the Planes' article of some sort. It would be pretty fun.

I am actually surprised that we haven't done an issue on Andoran. Well, we sort of did for #7, with the open theme, with a few articles. But, A FREEDOM! issue could be fun, and a return to one of the areas that started off Pathfinder CS is long overdue. Thoughts?

Sovereign Court

A Taldor theme is obviously an agregious oversight.....

I've always been severely ambivalent about Andoran. As I said before, though, do what feels right - I don't need to be in every one of these. ^_^

Andoran could be a fun compromise. You have the Freedom aspect, Darkmoon Vale/Falcon's Hollow, Fey, City, Mountains, Kobold.

We could end up with a great hodge-podge of article and it would be fitting to return to Pathfinder's roots.

An Andoran issue? I would be interested in participating in an issue about the most evil country in the Inner Sea Region.

I like Andoran a lot, so I'd be all for this. But I warn you, if you do an Andoran issue, you're going to get six thousand* articles involving Andoren political intrigues. From me.

Besides, EVIL LUMBERJACKS.

*Or, you know, three.

I'm a lumberjack,
and I'm okay.
Despite the attentions of the fey.

I clear the woods,
I cut down trees,
I saw them into logs.
I've seen most of my buddies
transmuted into frogs.

Liberty's Edge

Ancient Kingdoms and Tian Xia get my votes

Because I feel more free to be creative there than in areas that have known more Paizo development that I would feel obligated to master, which is a daunting and even stifling prospect to me

I like the country themed issues the most as a GM. I can grab an issue mark off stuff I will use for my game and ask players to read certain sections of the issue.

As a writer, I find I have a harder time writing for something with a broad focus. Plus, Andoran has fey, druids, the Lumber Consortium, and hobgoblin attacks in the northwest. Finally, the Andorens have a colony on Arcadia, making that potentially encompassed in the issue (the colony that is).

I agree with Thomas that I like country-themed issues as they're easy for me to focus, though I think mountains could fall somewhat into that field (as opposed to, say, fey).

Personally, I'd be more excited about a Taldor issue than Andoran, but I could see getting into the latter with some possibly neat archetypes.

If we did Taldor, I'd have at least one article ready to write. ^_^

It is understandable that you would be more excited about a Taldan issue. After all, Taldor contains a vast treasure trove of history and great deeds to draw from. When you have a refined sense of culture and glory like us, it allows all art to blossom.

Three cheers for Taldor!

You know... Now it came to me that there could be "Revolutionaries Of Golarion" issue one day. Covering Galt and Andoran, with a sprinkling of various other localized rebellions, civil wars, etc...

I like the Freedom! idea.

There's also the semi-war between Nirmathas and Molthune too.

Definitely a ripe idea for pickings, if you overlook the upcoming AP for it right?

As for the freedom issue...slavery is a major concern accross the Inner Sea. There are even gods and goddesses dedicated to various forms of freedom(s).

Canon stuff aside, an Andoran issue might be a good opportunity for folks to convert or follow up on some 3.5 content to Pathfinder.

Speaking both as a forum member and an editor, I'm not sure if I want that can of worms to be opened.

Sifting a hundred submissions, featuring an improbably orange-faced tyrant, with a bad wig?

I can see how that would get tedious, whichever side of the fence one sat.

At least with everyone's favourite bastards in Cheliax, the real life Spanish Inquisition isn't going to leap out the woodwork, and sue for defamation.

...At least, I don't expect them to...

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition...

Oh, come on. Someone had to say it...

I totally get that. I am a fan of Andoran, but I know what it is like to be left cold by a part of the fandom.

Spoiler:
All the Cheliaxian, pro Thrune fanboys I meet in pfs do this for me. So I made a character who hunts down hellknights as a day job and is inspired by many of quotes from Black Sails about Law and Order.
Still, you are very talented and we would miss you.

Don't worry, she would still write an article or two for the issue. :)

Although curious of the next theme...to help focus my ideas...I'mean also curious about who made it into this issue

The holiday rush cut too much into my design/writing/playtesting time for this issue.

Would love to see a supernatural/occult theme for the next issue though.

Our focus has been entirely on getting Wayfinder #16 finalized and released, so we haven't really addressed any of the #17 submissions yet. With 66 submissions, we'll need to reject about 20. So, yes, it should go faster than issues where we got 100+ submissions.

Give us about 2 weeks or so.....

Tim

So we should know kinda soon, I guess.

Its only the 19th.

They will need another week or so...approximately.

I'm sure they will get to it as soon as they can.

Nope. Because of nagging, I am officially saying things will take one day longer. ;)

That makes me want a Planes issue more...

So, the discussion I've seen here has me leaning heavily towards:

Andoran (FREEEEEDOMMMM!)
Fey
Occult and Horror
Mountains
Cities
Maaaaaaybe Tian Xi (I find it hard to believe Paizo is done with Tian Xi)

Planes is interesting, but I want boundaries set up on that theme first, otherwise it's a hodge podge of all kinds of things. "Planes" is, to me, too broad a theme.

Ancient Kingdoms....I'll wait. Paizo certainly MUST have plans for that still....

So, now you've asked WHEN we'll decide the theme for #18, and open the call? Give us time....we still have #17 to start up and get running. Issue #18 won't come out until December 2017 or January 2018, so that puts us at around March to open the call for it. So, by March!

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Yeah... in retrospect, Ancient Kingdoms should at least wait until Ruins of Azlant is out. ^_^

All good themes and aside from Fey, I have a good idea or two for them.

Occult or Fey sound the best...

Scarab Sages

Still would choose Fey first, but Andoran comes a close second.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

There is an appetite for more Tian Xi stuff that (aside from the occasional PFS scenario) is going unfulfilled.

It is also at low risk of being contradicted by Paizo.

Sucks that you don't accept LaTeX submissions. Usually I write everything in LaTeX.

Planes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have some Maelstrom-themed Aberration ideas. and maybe a couple of Ethereal-themed vermin, since I was too late for this issue

Probably. Although I hope we get a Tian Xi issue soon...there's a good demand for Oriental themed material (as we can see with the request for adventure or a second AP (fully set in)).

Not entirely in order.

Internal discussions have solidified the theme for #18....

FIRST WORLD / FEY

We'll put the call up in due time. Need to focus on getting #17 underway first.
