Lycanthrope character

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

I have a player that wishes to play a werewolf. Now, I know that some people feel that a werewolf PC is overpowered. I'm not interested in debating that subject. I would like to know what source has the information on adding a lycanthrope template. I have found information that says the PC gets a +2 bonus to Wisdom, low-light vision and scent in their humanoid form as well as +2 to Strength and Constitution after getting the best ability scores of their humanoid form or wolf form and DR 5/silver in hybrid form. What source does this come from?

Bestiary 1

I haven't really used templates for players myself. I just know that many of the templates I've used as a DM isn't really anything I'm willing to give out to players too easily.
Anyway, if you haven't already, you and your player should take a look at the Skinwalker race (a playable race, not unbalanced) from the 'Blood of the Moon' player companion and the Lycanthrope corruption from 'Horror Adventure'. I'm pretty sure they're should be up at the PRD.

Rangers, Hunters and Slayers all have options to go "werewolf-lite" Really anything that can access ranger combat styles can choose the natural combat style to get Aspect of the beast for a lot of werewolf flavor. Keep going with the style to get claws, improved damage claws, eldritch claws, some rending damage, all the perks. They get to be always on too which is a big plus for some people.

If you're willing to go 3rd-party, this is, in my opinion, a very good treatment of how to incorporate PC lycanthropes.

If you want just the base rules, they are in Bestiary 1, as mentioned, here.

I did check out Blood of the Moon but, unfortunately, it does not include variant humanoid races and the player is dead-set on an aasimar, mostly for the roleplaying.

An aasimar is not type humanoid, being an outsider(native) instead, and therefore is not eligible for the lycanthrope template, which is why they weren't covered.

EDIT: Unless they took the racial trait that makes them both outsider(native) and humanoid(human), in which case presumably their lycanthropy is exactly like any other humanoid(human)'s.

There is a box titled "NON-HUMAN SKINWALKERS" in "Blood of the Moon" it basically says non-human skinwalkers changes in size (and effects dependent on size) but other than that they are statistically identical to those of human decent.

She wants all the angelic appearance that comes with being an aasimar, so that's partly why she didn't like it.

She seems to have very specific ideas for her character, but there is agatheon-blooded aasimars, which would mix the appearance of the celestial and bestial but is not related to actual lycanthropes.

What is that trait and where can I find it?

Lol She DOES have very specific ideas for her character!! I suggested it but I don't think she'll go for it.

Mooncursed Barbarian or Wolf Shifter would be good class-based options to give a character lycanthropic powers, regardless of race

lycanthrope template
silverblood lycanthrope

both templates can just be applyed to a character rule it as a -1 character level per + to cr so a lvl 2 character would be a lvl 1 fighter lycanthrope for example also make sure she is a natural born lycanthrope or things get alot more complicated/player has less control over their character

Easy fix: Play Werewolf the Apocalypse instead!
