But here lately it does seem like to get an FAQ you need to be hotly contested, low hanging fruit, or something that might possibly be a little "OP" even if its farther down on hit numbers.

I think a better description seems to be that it needs to be something that's actually the subject of reasonable controversy. Yes, I could come up with an extremely strained argument that RAW doesn't actually state that "water is wet," and I could contest it so hotly that your very screen melted while reading it, but that doesn't actually mean that my position would be in any way defensible. Nor does it mean that anyone other than the heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots would actually think that it was a genuine controversy. Nor does it mean that the PDT should or would waste time answering it.

Any connection, of course, between the question "is the weapon a magus chooses the 'chosen weapon'?" and "is water wet?" is left as an exercise for the reader.

Magus, Kensai: Many of the kensai’s abilities refer to “his chosen weapon.” Is that the “single martial or exotic melee weapon of his choice” from the Weapon and Armor Proficiency ability? If it isn’t, how do I decide what his chosen weapon actually is?

The chosen weapon does indeed refer to the single martial or exotic melee weapon he chose.

Thank for for the FAQ

Huh, interesting issue.

If a kensai wants to use their class abilities with a simple weapon, there is a potential workaround. If they get a cracked opalescent white pyramid ioun stone keyed to that type of weapon, it is then treated as a martial weapon for them, and would thus be eligible for the kensai's chosen weapon proficiency.
