What's the rules regarding fan-fiction?

Licensed Products General Discussion

I've been considering writing some stories that take place in the Pathfinder world and making them into an E-book for the Kindle. I already have a few books on the Kindle Store that have sold a few copies. With this sort of thing, it can flop or actually make you some money.

I know quite a bit about the Inner Sea realm, as I have played in many of the Adventure Paths, and have read nearly the entire Inner Sea World Guide.

I also plan on reading a few of the Pathfinder novels.

Since I know that the Pathfinder novelists are already selected, I was thinking of just writing for myself and seeing what kind of reception it gets.

What kind of permission do you need to do this sort of thing? Are there any images you can buy from Paizo that can be used as a book cover?

Would this even be doable?

Paizo's Community Use Policy is only for non-commercial use. So if you're selling the e-books (or are in the publishing business), then you can't use the Inner Sea region, Pathfinder deities, and so on.

That's what I was afraid of – thanks.
