A rogue who can't keep his greedy hands off of anything, ever. Especially shiny things...

Advice

Okay guys. I'm working on a build for a greedy bastard of a rogue. He's a thief, and a damn good one! He will focus on out of combat thieving, but use the cut purse abilities if he needs to. He will be more of a role-play, scouting, type of character than a combatant.

He's always paranoid about someone who he stole from tracking him down, and rightfully so. He can't keep his greedy hands of of anyone's pockets.

I am specifically wondering what items beyond what I've already listed you would suggest. I was also considering swapping one of his rogue talents out for the Slow Reactions talent. What might you guys suggest for talents, feats, and items moving forward? What would you swap out?

Gear: budget of 62,000 by 10th as per WBL, but will probably have more form all the thieving

+4 Belt of Dexterity (16,000)
Ring of Invisibility (20,000)
Slippers of Spider Climbing (4,800)
Cloak of Resistance +4 (8,000)
Bag of Holding Type II (5,000)

Which leaves about 9k to spend. I have no idea what else to buy. Maybe a Swift runner's Shirt. Thoughts?

I'm hoping to rely on his feats Roll with It and Acrobatic Dodge to avoid most of the damage he might take.

Thanks!

NPCs don't usually get traits except from the extra traits feat and the character is not suitable for a PC unless the entire party is composed of outlaws. You simply won't mesh with any good or nonchaotic party and chaotic nongood parties tend to not be stable.

And even if you are in a party of outlaws you need to axe the uncontrolled kleptomania. Stealing from the party or when the party will take the heat (which is pretty much any time you're in a party) is not good social gaming.

I completely understand how this type of character could spell bad news for a party. This rogue would be ultra paranoid about getting caught, and he prefers life to death. This alone would keep him from taking form his party. Just because you have a thief doesn't mean you have to be an ass-hat with him at the table.

For Flavor, suggest maybe picking up the Tricks Steal. Allowing him to steal stuff in combat.

Feats Skill Focus Stealth and Hellcat Stealth. Gives him a chance to hide in combat.

This is a Goblin. You need fireworks and lots of them. They can provide distractions for your activities...if you're not distracted by the pretty fire flowers in the sky.

Wand of Mage Armor & Long Strider for the more serious, utility stuff.

Oooooh! I never even knew about Hellcat Stealth. And I love the fireworks idea. It fits well with this guy.

For roleplaying you could be the one who carries everybody’s gear. Get the biggest bag of holding you can afford and tell the other party members out of game you are willing to carry their gear. From a roleplaying stand point you steal it, but the party knows it so when they want to use their gear they simply ask you for it. You are only interested in cool stuff (Things they don’t need to always have), not boring stuff (Things they do need to have). Kleptomania is a type of insanity so you don’t really need to have a logical reason why something is boring, or interesting.
