Can you convert potions to oils?

Rules Questions

I have a crap load of cure light potions as our parties healer
The players don't bother using them.

Can I pay an alchemist to convert them to oils of same type?

It seems they would be pretty well suited as raw materials for oils of cure light wounds, so you could effectively pay half their value to a caster who's capable of making such an item.

I have to admit, I'm not sure how useful this change would be. If your allies refuse to drink them, are they going to be more agreeable to having it slathered on them?

The unconscious ones will. It bypasses the old "force it down his throat" house rule.

Pour oil over wound, watch it heal.

Well it's same as a touch heal
. And it's different if I choose to use them to top them off.

So is it passable to do?

I think this probably falls into the realm of "Ask your GM."

I couldn't find anything rules wise, but Starglim's suggestion sounds reasonable.

Generally speaking. I think potions are for creatures and oils are for objects as such I am not away of any rule based method to convert from one to the other.

Bear in mind that it's still a full-round action to apply an oil to an unconscious creature.

A character can carefully administer a potion to an unconscious creature as a full-round action, trickling the liquid down the creature's throat. Likewise, it takes a full-round action to apply an oil to an unconscious creature.

So if your goal is to avoid the need for a full-round action to use the potion on an unconscious creature, you aren't gaining anything by using an oil instead.

Yeah, trying to convert from a poition to an oil isn't helpful.

You can apply either to an unconscious creature as a full round action.

About the only thing I could see as useful in this scenario is that I guess you could theoretically apply the oil as a full round action to a conscious ally so you're using your actions instead of theirs...

There are no rules for converting poitions to oils.

Some GMs would say that you must decide if it is an oil or potion when the item is created. I would fall under that.

"I start oiling Bob up!"

If nothing else, the T-rex might gain the Fascinated condition, as well as most the party.

Of course there are no rules for it, but giving a 50% discount to buy a potion/oil by supplying the other as base material is certainly no problem.
