GM Rednal's Runelords Re-Recruitment

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 132 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

Sandpoint needs YOU!

Specifically, one of you, following the build rules here (but Level 3, with appropriate WBL). The current party members are an Oracle/Bolt Ace Gunslinger and a Ninja/Warpriest. Try to fit in well, and avoid min-maxing. ^^ You do NOT need to submit a completed character sheet - an excellent background will suffice, and is the main thing I will be judging.

Recruitment will last for five days, ending 9/8/16.

Are Kitsune a Core or Featured Race?

(Most questions can probably be answered by reading the post I linked. ^^)

They are uncommon, nvm then thanks anyway...i was going to just depart slightly saddened as there was something here before this change in text however i have a character that does fit the racial specs and i haven't really gotten a good chance to play quite yet...She's an Assassin (The profession not the class) .

getting super late so i'll work on the actual crunch in the morn, the fluff is actually done already, thanks to having worked on this character for other games.

Unlike my previous idea, this one is just Human

As for class Unchained Rogue/Magus. Seems like the other players lack the Arcane magic.

The Assassin known as Phantom:

Whenever i think about that night i know i should feel angry...i should feel something, but i don’t. It was a normal night, cold , clear skies and snow on the ground. I was returning from an unsuccessful hunt, i called to my family as i walked in, eye closed only briefly “I’m home”. Opening them I saw pools of blood, Tristan stood there. A look in his eye, A look I recognized...”he broke”. His addiction finally got to him, consumed him until the voices drove him insane.
I charged him my blade drawn, he simply threw me aside. “Little sister, the voices stopped” He said not a hint of remorse, “ all i had to do was kill them and drink their blood.” his white coat stained with blood and tattered. He paused for a brief moment holding his head in pain, he muttered, “Remember”
We had a promise, i would kill him if he ever gave in... “I can’t”
“Then run, save yourself” He began screaming the pain growing worse.
I ran far away into the night, through the snow and moonlight. The days past i grew cold and hungry, game was scarce this year, as it always was. Wandering into a town nearby, I checked the bounty board in the local tavern...I was desperate I picked one, A group of thieves wanted dead...How different could it be from hunting?
Things would continue like this, with each kill, each bounty it became easier.

Personality and Appearance:

Ashling, generally wears a dark purple hooded cloak and usually carries a belt of knives, a silvery pendant of Ashava hangs from her neck in memory of her parents.

Ashling bares many resemblances to the rest of her family; silvery white hair that she wears short and unkempt, her eyes area bright violet. Having only just become an adult she is still rather short and small by human standards.

Ashling has long since assumed the role of "The Phantom" becoming a cold and indifferent warrior bent on becoming stronger and surviving. Though this behavior does bother her and she makes efforts to try and be more normal a person, though she struggles with this.

Ten minute background:

Concept

1) She grew up in the Frozen north with her mother, father and older brother. Ever since her parent's murder she has begun traveling, accepting random contracts and jobs where ever she can get.

2) Her older brother, was considered a genius doctor and martial artist. he acted as her mentor teaching her things: medical, anatomy, even a bit of combat, Alchemy and hunting.

3) Shortly after she began taking on contracts, she took on the mantle of "The Phantom". A masked Assassin persona she uses protect her identity and keep her two lives separate.

4) After her family's murder she become desperate, cold and emotionally distant. She began forming the belief that no person's life is greater than any thing else, that killing a person is no different than an animal. However she also believes that all things deserve to be free to live in happiness.

5) Though generally cold and distant she enjoys dancing and singing, more than even fighting and combat. It's one of the few times she feels normal

Quirks and mannerisms

1) She has issues smiling, even while faking it they tend to be rather creepy and unnerving. Not knowing this she smiles often to try and comfort people.

2)Due to her quiet disposition she often accidentally sneaks around. often having her presence forgotten, only for people to be reminded suddenly.

3) Though generally calm she has moments where she looses her cool in fits of passion.

Goal

1) To become strong enough to find and kill her older brother, who has become a mass murdering, blood drinking psychopath.

Secret

She tries to keep her last name hidden from most people, as she doesn't want people to know she has any relation to her Brother who is widely known as a mass murdering psychopath.

Dot! I'll come up with something in the morning. So just for clarity-it'll be a 3 person party? Are there any roles that you really need filled? I'm assuming the oracle/gunslinger is more ranged, and the ninja/warpriest is gonna be a dex build?

Shalluk is indeed long ranged support and healing. He shoots bolts! It's fun for all. And yes, Tyanius is a dex build.

I suppose the biggest thing we're missing is Arcane mojo. Face smashing brute force would also be nice. And more lockpicking might not be a bad idea, although Shalluk's good at that (just not magic ones).

Right now I'm working on a very (VERY) loose idea for an alchemist (preservationist archetype)/ranger. No idea about the crunch or anything, but I have an idea of this guy who likes to go out in the woods and study creatures, and then he goes to his lab and tries to recreate them in extract form. I'm definitely going to be taking the Infusion discovery, so all my stuff will be usable by you guys. It's not *quite* arcane casting, but I figure it could give us a lot of extra utility if we can all use my extracts. Plus, rangers are fairly good at butt-kicking, so there's that as well.

Grand Lodge

I will submit Arkon the Thunderer Druid (Saurian Shaman/ Fighter)

Background and such complete.. just need to update character sheet

With that party composition, something is yelling me "We need a man. No. We need THE man. A man and a half. How bad he is? A 12 on the 10 scale of badness!"

So consider this a preemptive dot until I build The Man. Most probably will have a combination of the following classes: Fighter, Barbarian, Ranger, Paladin, Brawler, Fighter, Fighter, Cleric and Fighter.

About background... I have an idea that I want to write down nice and well. *Evil Grin

Hi, throwing in a quick dot for now (its 3 dots in the morning -__-) but I do have a few quick questions.
No idea what i will go yet.

you mentioned templates, are they still ok at 1 CR = 1 level on 1/2 the gestalt?
Edit: templates with varying CR? (Ex: Celestial Creature)

Shackled drawback still usable?:
Attention: After some thought - and mostly because of the lack of Minus CR templates - I'm willing to accept a substitution for the Young Template: Reduce your ability scores and your Natural Armor by 2 points each (so they all start from 8 instead of 10). If the Template you're using ordinarily grants a bonus of 6 or more to an ability score, halve that as well. This power-reduction will be known as the "Shackled" Template, both for plot reasons and because you probably don't want something like "Weakened" in your profile. You may play the theme however you wish - a curse from a deity, an effort of will that's actually weakened your body (perhaps out of concern for being shunned if you were too strong in comparison to those around you), an arcane seal imposed on you as part of a deal with some fey (willingly or not)... the point is that your power and potential is somehow locked away. ^^ You are not required to use the Shackled Template - it's only an option, and you can still go for a Young creature or work together with me on a reduced version of the normal template.

The Harrowing. Are you doing that for us as well? (I havent really figured out what this is yet)

Unchained classes? Expected/optional?

Aside from that, i have not played this module before but I have read the players guide. Can I get a quick blurb about our starting area or something? Or should I just leave my current location unspecified.

No idea what I will go yet...

@Emissary: You know how you're going to handle your alignment restrictions, right?

@Cam: As written on the original recruitment post, yes. Up to +1 CR, and it takes the place of a class level... and I reserve the right to deny any combination for any reason. (It's a case-by-case thing. I want templates, if used, to be a fun and flavorful addition to the character, not a tool to min-max and pump your numbers.)

The Shackled Template is still usable as an alternative to the Young template, yes.

I am doing the Harrowing. It's basically me doing an actual harrowing, following the rules for that, and tossing you a bonus ability that matches it.

Unchained Classes are permitted. The group is still in Sandpoint, so you could be either a resident or a newcomer who heard about what's going on. Either way, you should probably be volunteering to help clear out the rest of the goblins from a nearby dungeon. (Mostly cleared out already, actually, but the party didn't fully explore it so they're going back.)

Grand Lodge

Fluff:

Urlog was trained for 1 thing and 1 thing really well, to break the lines of humans who stood in his way. He was the bastard son of a lesser Orc Chief who is no more. Urlog was drafted into larger clan even as only a half-human (as the Orc's like to put it) he was still large like his fellow line breakers. Urlog was good at his job, very good, he smashed and crashed using his armor and his speed as his weapons.

One day while preparing for an assault against the humans, Urlog questioned his Band Leader why they must always fight the Humans. Urlog was beaten unconscious for his question, he later woke on the border to Last Wall, he was stripped of all his possession save some under clothes. He ventured into Last Walls boundaries, knowing that he could be a displaced Half-Orc seeking asylum. He made his way though the county even signing on with a Merc band who was pushing Bandits raiding out of the Forests in the south.

He stayed with Merc band for a few years, venturing to Varisia to see the great cities there. After a while he heard of Giants raiding towns in Varisia, Urlog made his way there to help combat enemies he had grownup around. He lead many sorties against the Giants, slaying many with Merc band. After a while they continued to head south, his band continued back towards Last Wall but Urlog knew that if he were to pass through Belkzen again with the band he would endanger them more than if they were alone. He decided to stay in Sand Point as they seemed to have a goblin problem and Urlog thought maybe he could bring the goblins to heel and make them productive.

There are some alterations I made to him but this is the gist of him, I will look him back up on Hero Lab when I get home

To reiterate, we are at Level 3 right now. ^^

GM, I know in your profile page you ask that people have their character sheets in Hero Labs format. Is there any program that generates that for you besides Hero Labs? I don't have it (and don't want to have to buy it at the moment) and don't want to have to type out my entire character manually.

Not that I'm aware of, although somebody might've put a BB code up somewhere. Hero Lab's format is almost identical to the official format Paizo uses. This is very important, because I play and GM in quite a lot of games, and it's actually a pretty big hassle if everyone has things in different places. When people have the same format, I always know where to look for a given piece of information.

Grand Lodge

are you doing combat stamina for fighters?

Not automatically, but it's accessible via feat.

Dotting. I would like to submit an Urban Ranger/Paladin of Erastil, who is all about community and the protection thereof.

Karrick Tarro:

Jal Tauni is an orc who came on a raid from the Hold of Belkzen when he was far to young to be of any use in it. He had simply been caught up in the moment and ended up here in Varisia. Getting lost from the raiding party, Karrick ended up fending for himself in the wilds of Varisia.

Eventually, he encountered a settlement, so small as to have no name. He ventured in and eventually found work for a small amount of food and a place to sleep, after braving the small amounts of abuse and fear the towns folk had for him. This arrangement went on with various people in the town, who needed his strength but who were not quite comfortable with the orc.

After a year in the hamlet, Karrick was out side of town felling trees for the local cooper. He heard shrill voices coming from the edge of the forest, maybe a hundred feet away. Grabbing his ax and going to investigate, Karrick found a small group of goblins, maybe 10 in all. Crying out and yelling to raise the alarm, Karrick started back to the hamlet at a run, wanting to get everyone safe inside the buildings.

At the edge of the town, Karrick looked back and saw the goblins about half way from the forest to the town, and he turned around now that the alarm was raised. He braced himself and prepared to do what he could to slow the marauders. Gripping his ax, Karrick moved towards the goblins and began to fight as best he could, though it was not pretty.

After a series of exchanges, Karrick managed to slay a goblins, though was quite injured in the process. Turning he saw the others had managed to set fire to the few buildings in the hamlet, though the townsfolk had made it off down the road.

With arms filled with loot, the remaining goblins came out from the burning buildings and saw Karrick standing over the body of their slain comrade. Dropping their goods, they pulled their weapons and rushed him. Karrick ran, trying to get to the road and go the opposite way of the townsfolk, wanting to lead the goblins away before he died. Before he made it vary far, they cut him off and so he fought. After bringing a second goblin down, the others over powered him and he sunk to his knees beginning to topple over. As he blacked out he could hear the cries of men entering battle, the twang of arrows and the beat of hooves.

Upon waking, Karrick was in the company of three men beside a fire. Their cloaks and clothing flecked with blood and their mounts tied up a dozen feet away. Upon the mens cloaks a bow an arrow was emblazoned.

Noting he was awake, one of the men turned to him, "I am Carl, my companions are Eric and Joshua. We would like to hear the story of the orc who protects a hamlet of humans"

Clearing his through, Karrick recites his story, being given food and water while he does so. Upon completion of the story, Carl speaks again,

"Given what you've told us, we should move on soon, to get to the townsfolk you say got away. After that, I would like you to come with us, you are a good fit for the ways of Old Deadeye"

Over the next week, Karrick had Carl explain more of Erastil, and decided he liked it. Under Carl's tutelage, Karrick grew stronger and more competent, though he still favored the axe over the bow. After a few months Carl sent him to live in Sandpoint, and he has lived there for the least two years loving the town for what it was...

Statblock and an alias are coming in the next few days

Aliases aren't necessary unless you're actually selected. ^^

Alias Bloat can be a thing, after all, and I try to fight it where I can. XD

Ahh, then it will just be a stat block. Also, I can generally post at least once a day and will happily post more often if it makes sense to.

I'm working on a Paladin/Bloodrager (Draconic, worshiping Apsu, naturally). I thought about a Kobold with the Giant template, but decided against it. Just going plain old human. Crunch is mostly done, working on the fluff now.

Just a note, guys - you're much more likely to be accepted if you don't use Gestalt to make something that does one thing really, really well. Rednal prefers characters that can do two or three roles well, rather than one role incredibly.

Alright, here is Ouachitonian's submission. Thorfinn fights primarily with his claws, but also with the special spikes built into his shining steel fullplate (complete with a helm styled after the head of a dragon). When he takes levels in Dragon disciple, he'll add a bite, for three natural attacks plus full iteratives with spikes. As a tempered champion, he gets warpriest scaling damage with everything he takes weapon focus with (already taken it with claws, will take spikes and bite later). Evil foes will learn to fear his raging smite. He can also serves as an extra healer, with with Lay on Hands and (soon) Channel Energy(and as a Hospitaler, he'll have more channel uses than normal).

I'm willing to switch the bloodrager side to Sorcerer and do some retooling (drooping fullplate obviously, probably moving to more of a Dex base) if you would rather have a full arcane caster than a frontliner.

This is Laufey, currently a Half-Elf Urban Bloodrager with Arcane Bloodline. I would remake her as an 25 point buy Urban Bloodrager/Unchained Rogue and level her up if you're interested. She could also be combined with bard instead if more arcane casting is desired. She could combine very well with archaeologist bard. Her backstory is already in place.

She would add a full BAB melee character to the party. She would be able to work well with Tyranius in combat to get sneak attacks, and be effective against casters.

Sort of why i picked Magus/Unchained rogue i bringeth the Arcane magic as well as normal unchained rogue goodies like magical trap disarming and normal traps. I can fill a few roles doing that.

Since backgrounds all that's really needed for now anyway. i'll get the mechanics done if picked

Shalluk wrote:

This is true. XD I feel gestalt should be used to expand your options, not deliberately break the system.

Leokian was originally created for a Jade Regent campaign that only lasted a few weeks. His backstory links him strongly to Shalelu, but I think it works very well for ROTRL also. He has very good reasons for coming to Sandpoint.

He's an Elf Arcanist who would could be a good gestalt character with either Unchained Rogue or Investigator. I particularly like the Investigator idea. It would make him a fantastic "Brains" type character and give him some combat capability in a pinch. With a 3 person party a caster might not want to be too squishy.

If you are referring to the Non-Evil restriction, I was the one evily grinning, the submission won't be evil.

If you mean the restriction between classes, I got that covered.

That being case, I think I will rework Thorfinn into a Sorcadin later tonight.

Updated to Sorcadin, should be ready to roll, but feel free to review and let me know if I need to make some modification.

Got most of my character thought, background included, but wanted to ask both players something so I can tweak it.

At first glance, Tyranius the Ninjapriest seems to be focused on TWF sneak attack, some speaking and stealth while Shalluk the Boltracle is quite adept at speaking, food and ranged killing... is there anything else I missed?

I intended to build my submission around being a tanking, flanking buddy with healing and some additional damage (more on that on later levels) and out of combat being a source of knowledge, good with words and language master.

Also, question for Rednal: I see you said 3rd party on request only... so what do you think about the Soulknife? Concept is a Paladin which since an early age manifested a rare ability to focus his faith and create blades of light.

Liberty's Edge

I am drafting an Unchained Monk/Witch, for slightly deranged goodness. Will post fluff and some crunch as soon as ready.

Hmmmm... I could go for the Crossblooded/Wildblooded Draconic/Sage-bloodline Sorcerer / Magus character I was going for before hand, for some Arcana Power and some Melee Power... ooor...

Say, is the Luckbringer allowed? http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/rite-publishing/luckbring er

Luckbringer is fine, although I might impose certain conditions on how its abilities function. For example, for the All In power, you could say you wanted to use it... and then I'd roll it when resolving stuff and apply its effects. It's definitely a class that's easier on the tabletop. XD

Fair enough. Thinking of going Fortune Blessed along with it. Not sure what the second class should be. I really wanna push the luck focus on the class. Go for something risky, but potentially amazing...

My mind is saying 'Barbarian', but do you have any suggestions Rednal?

Ooh! Ooh! Interested!

Thinking a magus (card caster)/telekineticist that throws cards around while also being able to use them as a melee weapon (weapon finesse plus kinetic blade).
Supplies a bit of arcane magic with some skills, and eventually a bit of utility through Aether's abilities.

Hopefully you'll like him!

Still working on getting the crunch appropriately laid out (so if you look at the profile, there may currently be a few discrepancies).

Otherwise, I hope you like Gaspar!

Physical Description:

Gaspar is a pretty man, no doubt. Particularly for a thirty-something year old half-elf. Standing at 5'10" and weighing in at 178 lbs, he isn't particularly large or small - whether you're judging him as a human, and elf, or a half-elf. When he's the clothing that he's made to wear in the company of nobles, his physique seems fairly unremarkable. His musculature, while very toned and well structured, isn't particularly bulky or noteworthy making it difficult to size him up accurately when he's wearing the baggier and showier courtier's clothing.

When he's wearing his standard attire, however, there is a lot more room to move and a bit more skin showing. His shoulders are about as broad as an average human tapering to a thinner waste, but still what might be considered only a little thinner than average for a human. His muscles are very well defined from the endless practice and acrobatics. His biceps, and indeed arms in general, are no larger than average, but every detail can easily be made out throughout his arms which is what can also be said about his chest, back, and torso.

Gaspar's skin is a light - almost golden - brown color. While a little lighter than many of the humans that hail from Osirion, no doubt a result of his obvious elven heritage, it is still very clear to any who see him that he is from a sunnier place than Brevoy. His hair and small bit of chin hair are a solid midnight black, but his eyes are strangely an icier blue color that contrasts heavily with his skin and hair. His ears are clearly pointed, but obviously too small to belong to a full blooded elf. His jaw is square and strong, leading to his somewhat larger chin. Though large, his chin manages to not seem bulbous and just accents his long face. He has a somewhat long, but narrow nose that's quite proportional to his face.

Background:

Hail to the king…

Osirion. The land of pharaohs. It was a much different place than many other nations. There were men, there were kings, and there were gods, but for the people of Osirion the line between king and god was blurred by the pharaohs. Throughout the vast history of one of the oldest nations, it wasn’t so much that the rulers had fooled their subjects into believing that they had divine power, no. It was that they had convinced them that they were divine. Each ruler down the line had mighty shoes to fill and being the one to receive that kind of power… you had to want it, nay, need it if you expected to get anywhere. You had to cast aside any ideas of traditional morals and you had to put yourself and your people first. Being the pharaoh was a titanic task to be sure, but to live in his shadow was to take on his responsibilities without that kind of divinity. That’s where some people are, standing in the penumbra of his shadow. That’s where Gaspar Khemet, son of the pharaoh, the Ruby Prince Khemet III was born. Not as a potential heir to the divine throne, but as a son cast aside by trivial tradition. Forever beneath the oppressive expectations of the king but just outside the reach of his status. That’s the fate of the bastard son of a pharaoh.

What child is this?

It was about thirty-four years ago when Gaspar was conceived. Things are a bit different in Osirion when it comes to this sort of thing, especially if your name is Prince Khemet III. He not only has a wife, he has wives. He also has an entire harem to suit his more exotic desires and not just any woman gets to be in the Ruby Prince’s harem. It’s a prestigious place for women to be in that society that elevates them to noble status. Not only are bastards not looked down upon, they’re expected. They’re treated as nobles just like any other. Though, of course, they aren’t held to the esteem that the pharaoh’s actual children are. That’s the position Gaspar’s mother Keerla Amaranthian was born into. Glorious or not, that’s how her life was made easier. That’s how Gaspar’s life began. He straddled the fence between the world of royalty and the world of commoners just as he did between elves and men. Being the only child that Keerla had ever came to bear, his infancy was easy. Gaspar was sheltered until he was a child old enough to consider the differences between him and the positions of other children. It was at that time that things changed.

He was raised nearly exclusively by his mother, which wasn’t to say that Khemet III had no part on his childhood. Being the man that he was, he was excessively busy. Any of his excess time would go to his actual sons and, even if he did find time to mentor his bastards, he certainly had more than one of those. Gaspar was jealous of other children for having a father in their life, but his mother would always tell him “Even if you never hear him say it, your father is proud of you.” “But mommy, how do you know?”

He tells me every time I see him.

When Gaspar was old enough to play on the street with the other children, he took every responsibility. He had a number of friends who would constantly get into mischief with him and he loved it. Three friends of his were the only ones that stuck with him into adulthood and understood that he didn’t place himself above them just because of his status or his blood. One such friend was named Ali, a human boy now approaching middle age. He was the biggest and the strongest of the four of them. Gaspar’s fondest memories of him are as a teenager when he would always stand out and try to spin a tale to the guards when they’d inevitable try to chase down the four of them so the other three could escape.

“Remember that one time I told the guards that someone had caught my cat on fire and that’s why we needed to make off with the well water?”
“He bought it like a shady merchant!”

Another friend was a fellow half-elf girl named Solana. Back then they had a larger group of friends although these four were the tightest. When they reached the teenage years, Solana was the source of more drama than any of them would like to admit now. Especially Gaspar. More than a couple of times did they fight over who would marry her, though little did they expect that it would end up being none of them. Gaspar isn’t even sure she ever found out how he really felt about her when they were young. Among the four of them, she was the only one who studied magic. She wasn’t very good at it at the time, but she’d always tell them of the daydreams she’d have about being a famous Osirion bard one day.

The last friend that Gaspar still has from all those years ago is a Halfling named Valhorn. Gaspar was always the quickest of his friends, but Valhorn was the most cunning. His words were like Gaspar’s feet and wit were like Ali’s sword. Being almost the only Halfling in the city, though, he got into trouble for more stuff than he actually did, which was really saying something. He needed that wit if he expected to make it in Osirion.

'To my son; I love you. From your father; I am proud. If we don't say it, this means it.'

That’s what was engraved in elven on the ring that was given to Gaspar when he became of age. When he was finally considered a man. He was held to human standards, so he was a little young still to be held to those sorts of responsibilities. He wanted them though. He was living in the shadow of one of the greatest men in the world and he wanted to go off into the kingdom to show what he could be worth. What his father knew about him wasn’t enough. He became a traveler, leaving his mother and his friends behind. He wasn’t yet ready to leave Osirion, but was ready to explore. Just before leaving, he was given a masterwork scimitar to be his training weapon and to use if he did get into any altercations. He still carries the sword, but it’s so worn that it’s not worth being called masterwork anymore. It’s just worth being called Gaspar’s.

It didn’t take him long in his own thoughts to embrace the half of himself that he’d been ignoring; his elven side. He felt rushed like his human heritage, but he finally began to envy elves – envy his mother. He was behind if he wanted to be able to emulate them like he would need to properly. In his few year tour of Osirion, he met many people. Many elves. They taught him how to achieve grace with time to the best of their ability and he grew obsessed. He practiced constantly. Even as a child he was talented at acrobatic pursuits, but from this point forward it was all he cared about to perfect his balance of body and mind. Well, aside from making sure that he could live up to his name.

Welcome back, my son

It was the first time he’d heard anyone in his family speak in almost half of a decade and it was his father. A memory that Gaspar will never forget is the greeting he received after leaving the city to find himself. He knew his father cared, but it was easy to get skeptical. After getting back, he was introduced more and more into noble society. It wasn’t easy for him. He had to do what he could to seem proper for that company, but none of it felt right to him. And it made him no friends. He lost most of his friends during this time, most of whom jus chalked him up to becoming another noble brat. Only his closest stayed. He also made an enemy during this time.

Hasib Ahmad was a fellow bastard of Khemet that had been raised in somewhat close proximity to Gaspar. Growing up, Hasib chose to take the name of his human mother over the name of the Ruby Prince. As time went on, Hasib grew to hate the pharaoh and even went out of his way to publicly speak against him. Just a few years before the start of the campaign, Hasib arranged an assassination attempt against Khemet III. The attempt was easily quashed, but Gaspar took it upon himself to hunt down Hasib. They had a short physical altercation before Hasib was able to sneak away leaving Gaspar injured. Hasib swore he’d get revenge on Gaspar for his involvement in the resistance against his assassination attempt, but he’s not been seen or heard from since.

Show me you can do it, prove it

Was the last thing Gaspar heard his father say before he finally left for Brevoy. The first time he set out for anywhere outside of Osirion. His father had heard though the network of nobles that there was an opportunity for rising people of note. Gaspar, likely being his favorite bastard after the incident with Hasib, was chosen to be the Ruby Prince’s representative. Gaspar was happy to oblige.

He thanked his mother, easily the most influential person in his life, and bid her farewell.

“This certainly isn’t the last you’ll hear of me, mother!” he said with a certain boom in his voice “Next you hear from me, I’ll be a someone. Not just some noble brat or over-hyped acrobat.”

“I know that’s true, Gaspar. You know I do.”

“It’s just good to hear it, even if I’m a man now.”

“'To my son; I love you. From your father; I am proud. If we don't say it, this means it.”

The last thing Gaspar did before leaving for Brevoy was smile at his mother and twist the ring on his hand.

Liberty's Edge

No build survives first contact with the manuals, so my Monk/Witch has transformed itself into a Bard/Swashbuckler.
The reason for this being that both these classes have a dervish archetype and I couldn't resist making a Double Dervish.
Therefore, here is Arilla Svelleif, aasimar performer.
She is obviously specialized in fighting with a scimitar, but I have built her to also be a good explorer/scout/sneak, a jack-of-all-trades-like skillmonkey and a secondary caster (seeing as both warpriest and oracle can control and debuff exceptionally well).

A few notes.

  • I have made her an aasimar because there's a tiefilng and I thought this unlikely alliance could lead to interesting scenarios
  • I used the Background Skill Point for Perform, if this is inappropriate (me being a bard) I can change
  • I will properly format the crunche tomorrow, right now I annotated a PDF Character Sheet

I have an idea for an Unchained Monk/ Empyreal Sorcerer who is a worshiper of Irori. Although I might go with Warpriest (sacred fist) / Empyreal Sorcerer for more versatility. However, the party does have two divine casters already and could probably use a full bab and d10 hp on the front lines.

Is VMC aloud? If so I was thinking of going with Bard for knowledge, skills & some buffing.

VMC is allowed.

That was fast, thanks.

I try to be responsive to questions. XD

Interested. I want to play in one of your games at least once. Plus I want to see how the AP ends. The Runelords game I was in years back ended in the ROOM BEFORE [Final Boss]. I'm still annoyed.

Minor edit in case there's anyone who doesn't know the basic plot of this.

Hello! Posting interest- A question though- Would you permit races outside your listed limits at a rate of CR+1?
I had a Lyrakien Azata in a Rise of the Runelords campaign a long while back- I ended up leaving right after they completed thistletop (Went in a different direction than I would have enjoyed) and would love to join in a game as her again.
In her original game, she was a Lyrakien Cleric 2, but I can build her (Admittedly at a higher cost) as a Lyrakien//Cleric 3.

If acceptable, I could play an Archivist Lyrakien, the familiar of an ancient wizard that was buried underground for a thousand years, leaving his familiar stuck with nothing but some limited tomes, as a lot of her memory rotted away.

If not, I'm still interested, just as a Diviner//Investigator type character, looking into various goings on, with a private eye type of idea behind him. Maybe as a Force Commander if I want to go more a tactician type individual (I've always wanted to try it).

I'd prefer to stick with the races I set out as being acceptable. Among other things, the existing players didn't have the chance for something else, and it's not really fair to them if newcomers get a bunch of options they never had, y'know? I want to be fair to all players. Content from new books is one thing, 'cuz I'm generous about retraining, but races and such are different.

Think I've settled on a basic concept. Spiritualist (Ectoplasmatist) is the core class, not sure what to mix it with. I want a guy who basically uses spiritual energy or telekinesis for EVERYTHING. Doesn't use his hands unless he absolutely has to. He'd probably be kinda haughty as a result, or have pity on the poor guys who actually use their bodies for things. Only downside is I'm still locked into using physical stats to attack.

Thinking of making him something like an Empyreal Sorcerer on the other side, since there's no arcane caster in the party. But I'm tempted to make it Fighter instead so we have a proper full BaB melee dude.

Question, would the archetype's Ectoplasmic Lash (details here) count as whips for Feats and such? Or at the least, fall into a proper weapon group (probably Flails)? That will guide things a bit.

Spheres of Power is an option, and you can make some really good Telekinesis-focused characters with that. ^^

I'd accept the lashes as a weapon for the purpose of feats affecting them and the like, since they manifest as weapons and you can usually choose weapons to benefit from something.

I'm gonna bow out here, was kind of hitting a wall with my concept, both crunch and RP-wise. Thanks for the opportunity, and best of luck to everyone else!

I'll toss my hat in the ring. I'd like to go with an Unchained Rogue using the Vicious Opportunist archetype. If that seems too fiddly, then a vanilla Unchained Rogue would be fine with me. His second class would be a wildblooded: Sage sorcerer... to boost the necessary Knowledge skills to be most useful. He's something of a swashbuckler and doesn't mind going toe-to-toe in battle while using spells to tilt the odds in his favor... and acrobatting out of trouble, just as fast.

Hmmm... looking at Shalluk's post again. If more trap-spotting/disarming/skills would be stepping too much on another player's toes, I could swap out Rogue for one of the more swashbuckler-y fighter options.

While I'm working on the crunch, here are some of the non-crunchy bits:

Description:
5'10" 175lbs ; 25 years old
Hair/Eyes: Brown

Hawkren is a lean man. His sharp brown eyes shine out from a tan face framed by a goatee and laugh lines. His long brown hair ranges from 'free-roaming' to 'nicely combed but loose' when he's on the prowl for feminine company. But most of the time, it is pulled back into a serviceable - if unkempt - ponytail to keep it out of his face. His clothes peg him as a traveller, possibly a bravo. His worn leather boots give way to worn brown breeches which terminate at his one dash of flair. Slung around his hips is rumpled purple sash which sits below a faded leather belt to which the scabbard for a finely crafted rapier sits at a rakish angle. His hands are covered by threadbare black fencing gloves with the fingertips removed and the edges hemmed. Hawkren's shirt is of common white cloth and sits below a loose grey woolen vest which is neatly held in place by a well-crafted bandolier that runs diagonally across his frame. Over one shoulder, rides a finely constructed leather backpack.

Personality:
Hawkren has a ready smile and an even readier wit. He is a bit of a reckless rascal, but a generally good-natured one. Curious to a fault when it comes to magical trinkets, monstrous creatures, or new magic and - given his vaguely larcenous heart - Hawk's not above trying to 'lift' something that really piques his interest. And shame on the wizard who doesn't properly secure her notes and goods.

Backstory:
Hailing from Varisia, Hawkren had a relatively privileged childhood as the son of a minor member of the aristocracy. Nevertheless, he courted more than his fair share of trouble; he was implicated in a series break-ins, petty thefts, and other scandals that required his mother's influence to quiet. And that may have been the course of his life had his sorcerous talents not emerged. But his powers did flower and Hawk's family was delighted. The young man was less pleased. Suddenly, this wastrel son had 'potential' and his family began planning his political future and alliances through marriage. It wasn't what the adventurous young man wanted and - in examining his skills - Hawk came to realise that something in his blood made his magical practice very different from the norm (Sage Bloodline). It made working with normal casters like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Deciding to find sorcerers more like himself and avoid his family's plotting, Hawk joined the next merchant caravan going anywhere. His travel across the inner sea region proved fruitful in terms of studying occult matters but the regimented mages' guilds held no appeal. This became Hawk's 'migratory' pattern - study then move on again, again, and again. Over a period of years he traveled through Varisia, Nidal, and Nirmantha while pursuing his magical interests, shiny trinkets, and unconventional adventures. Liking the wilds and freedom of Varisia, Hawk has returned home. He's even joined the Pathfinder Society. Though his occasional habit of using Society connections to discover another member's interesting occult project and then launching a one-man rival expedition in hopes of 'poaching' the rewards has made his relationship with the Society a bit uh... 'tenuous'. But at least a few of the more academic mages like working with Hawk as he has the requisite 'fieldwork' skills and somewhat reckless attitude needed to get him in and out of trouble while working on their more questionable ventures.

Still have yet to actually play with an SoP character, so I think I will look into that.
