My group is currently running Kingmaker and I would love to see a similar sandbox/build your own colony adventure path in the future. We kind of like stuff like that.
Given the "recent advent" of hyperspace angle, and "race for new planets/resources" Colonymaker sounds like an awesome aspect a la Kingmaker/downtime rules.
