I'm going to change submissions. I just like this character better. Here he is.
I haven't decided on his domain but it's likely either sun, good, or healing. I want to focus on channels and supplemental spells with this cleric as the battle cleric has worn out on me.

Background:
Cedric was born and raised in Ustalov, however he grew to be an odd child. Quite contrary to most in Ustalov the dour and desperate mood never seemed to catch on Cedric. Even into his late teens he was always smiling, always full of energy and trying to have fun. Indeed whever he went was easy to tell as the normally dour and moody folk of Ustalov appeared slightly happier, some, dare I say, even smiled whole whole-heartedly. Whenever people would ask him how he always stayed in such a good mood he simply replied with "because I want to be". At the age of 18 he still had not acquired a trade or job and many people were starting to view the once happy lad as merely lazy. He never thought so, he simply replied that "he Hadn't found something he loved yet" to the increasing worry and anger of his parents. It was this that brought about the first time Cedric had cried since he was a babe.
One night while he was arguing with his father about getting a trade to support himself the argument became heated, well, the father slowly became furious and worked himself into a rage from his frustrations. Alas, the mans health had been fading from years of hard work as a lumberman and his heart had a heart attack from the rush. When his father died a couple minutes after Cedric blamed himself. For once, the cold, icy grip of despair grasp his heart and he couldn't shake it off. He fled to his and his sisters room and cried half the night. The next few days Cedric wore nothing but a frown of despair as the funeral was carried out. Then, when they entered there home two days after the death, with Cedric's smile still gone, a sense of foreboding came over them. Cold chills would blow about the room and strange noises were heard. The local priest could not say what was the cause, and so reluctantly called upon an old acquaintance. A one professor Lorrimar. But not two days after the message was sent objects began hovering, flinging about. So they had to abandon the house, and even with his fathers good standings as a merchant and with money enough to pay rent no one would let them stay or even come in for fear of the haunting affecting their homes as well.
So for two days they slept in a tent, Cedric began to grow angry at the people of the town. He began to blame them for his predicament. He thought the only reason his father had begun to say anything about his lack of skills or job was because of the talk the other townsfolk had begun. Then, he blamed them for his mothers sickness, forcing her to sleep in a tent. His despair slowly ebbed to rage and against better judgement marched back to his home just several hours before the priest lead Lorrimar there as well. When the Priest and Lorrimar got there the house was alife with a whirling wind, a pot was thrown out a window and Lorrimar knew instantly what it was. When he began to move towards the door suddenly everything stopped, and became quiet. As they stood slightly shocked stillness for several seconds Cedric opened the door. He was crying, at first they thought he was injured, but once they got close they realized he was also smiling, a vibrant beam of a smile. Lorrimar was impressed. This boy had just quelled what he had assumed to be a rather high level Haunt. He offered the lad a chance to work with him in solving other situations as this. Cedric Thought about it for a moment, and asked about his mother and sister. Lorrimar laughed at the lads worry, not mockingly, but because he enjoyed the care and love of the thought. He promised they would be fine, and put up well as well, free of charge to his pay. So Cedric studied under Lorrimar for a time, and worked with him as a secondary insight on things. lorrimar asked the lad how he had destroyed the Haunt in his home. Cedric looked away, keeping his smile faintly, and merely replied "I, finished a talk. Just, somehow made things right..."
During their travels Lorrimar also noted, with both appreciation, and a tinge of worry. That Cedric rarely showed signs of frustration or despair, and never, not even when sleeping let his smile fade. When he asked the lad why he always smiled and why he was always in such a good mood. Cedric Replied.
"Because it's less painful, because I want to be happy, and... Because I have to be, for all the other people that can't or couldn't be...."

Hmm...how would you recieve an Orc Barbarian Flesheater? (Archtype from the Occult books). It does as it sounds involve a bit of cannibalism in that it will cover the eating of sentient beings in order to gain extra from their rage. Typically I would pair it with the True Primitive from the Ultimate Combat book and go with the styling of eating the fallen to gain their strength kind of religion.
Though, I could understand how this could be viewed as evil.

Well... if you can justify it, go ahead. Don't expect folks to give your character a warm reception if they find out about your tastes, though.

If you care about my two cents, I'd say this wouldn't constitute "evil" specifically if it was for purpose of gaining the strength. It could almost be seen as a compliment and, well, personally I've always considered stuff like this weird more than evil. Unless you go around killing random victims to sate your... tastes. I've thought about it awhile, and if I ever personally got my arse kicked in and they then ate half of my remains as they saw me as a "worthy" oppenent. Well, I'd be upset I was dead but still a bit touched they considered me a worthy adversary. Of course this only works if the character does it sparingly and only on enemies he considered strong or almost as strong as him. It's an interesting idea to me.

Lizardfolk regularly eat sentient creatures. Meat is meat, they say. They are, by and large, neutral. I believe the difference is they more only do it a) when they already killed/have something/someone dead, and don't want to waste the body, or b) are starving, and it's a kill-to-eat or die situation. They don't go out looking for sentient creatures to eat, like the drow in breeding the vegepygmies.

Light Sensitivity: Dhampirs are dazzled in areas of bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell.
Resist Level Drain: A dhampir takes no penalties from energy drain effects, though he can still be killed if he accrues more negative levels then he has Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a dhampir takes are removed without the need for an additional saving throw.
Undead Inception (Su): At 1st level, a spirit walker can affect undead creatures with his hypnotic stare as the psychic inception bold stare ability. This allows him to affect only undead; he must actually choose the psychic inception bold stare improvement if he wants to also affect other mindless creatures. At 3rd level when the spirit walker uses this ability, undead targets don't receive a saving throw bonus (if they did to begin with), have only a 25% chance of ignoring the spirit walker's mind-affecting spells and abilities, and no longer need to be under the spirit walker's gaze to be affected. At 5th level, when the spirit walker uses his mind-affecting spells and abilities, they affect all undead normally, with no chance of failure.
Undead Resistance: Dhampirs gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease and mind-affecting effects.
Vampiric Empathy: Though dhampirs often relate poorly to humanoids, some share an affinity with baser creatures. These dhampirs gain the ability to communicate with bats, rats, and wolves as if under the effects of a speak with animals spell (caster level equal to 1/2 the dhampir's Hit Dice). In addition, they gain a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy checks when dealing with these animals. Whenever these dhampirs initiate an exchange, animals begin with a starting attitude of indifferent. This is a supernatural ability.

Dragoncat, I hope you don't mind the linked backstories. I have amended Jayla's story to incorporate her meeting/connection with potential PC, Khardan. :)
I also gave Jayla a drawback and picked up a third trait.
I generally prefer to wait until I've chosen the party before backstories become linked.
Here's the crunch for Lelijia von Lickert, Nidalese dhampir mesmerist. Backstory will come in a couple of days.
I'm planning on ending recruitment this Saturday, so don't take too long. :)

Lelijia's mother told her only briefly about her father, a vampire of distinguished taste but horrifically violent personality. He wasn't even aware that Lelijia existed, having left her mother for dead after the act. The story had always filled Lelijia with anger, that someone could treat her sweet, caring mother in such a way, but as she grew older, that anger tempered into a quiet determination, particularly once her gifts began to manifest. Her father, supposedly, had had a way with mental magics, something that she inherited. From the time she was around 13, she found she could make people perform simple tasks just by looking at them in the right way and concentrating hard. But unlike her father, she only wanted to use these powers to help people, not to control them. So she instead focused on her undead neighbors. And, by 18, she finally managed to do what she'd known all along was possible: control the shambling undead, although only minimally.
With this power mastered, but knowing that using it in Nidal, a land controlled by evil and the undead, would be foolhardy at best and suicidal at worst, Lelijia left home, taking her mother with her quietly in the middle of the day while using her power to make anyone they passed ingore them until it was too late. They traveled as inconspicuously as possible across the border into Nirmathas, and from there to Varisia. After getting her mother set up with a job and a small apartment in Korvosa, Lelijia left again, vowing to make good on her promise to help others. A promise that, naturally, took her to Ustalav, the nation she was most likely to find good use for her powers.
While she did find good work with the church of Pharasma, using her admittedly undeveloped spells to pin down the undead while her fellows destroyed them, she also found herself in the retainer of one Professor Lorrimor, as a bodyguard and assistant of sorts whenever he studied the undead. They had something of a rapport, and Lelijia considered him to be a good friend, so when she recieved the letter about his death, she was, of course, immediately determined to go to the funeral and pay her last respects.
I also just realized that background skills are a thing, so I'm adding Knowledge (history, nobility) to my sheet.

Hey there Dragoncat!
Just looked over Talekar and realized that I hadn't updated him from the previous campaign I tried to get him into. Just finished updating all of that for CC, so he should be ready to go except for some minor crunch around spending his money. I'll also need to add in background skills, but that will pretty much be along the lines of his academic upbringing, so mostly gonna be Lore.
I'm excited to see how the rubber meets the road on this character. I'd imagine he'll find all of these monsters and things much more frightening in person than they are in the books he's been studying all these years. Could be a great challenge to force him to grow through RP and all that.

Just posting to make sure you know that Ravimir's profile is finished. Fingers crossed!

I don't really know how to grant PFS credit for this, so it's not for credit.
1. Get a free PFS number.
2. Set up an event for reporting the AP.3. Report a session under the event at the end of each book.
4. Download free chronicle sheets from the product page or the PFS additional resources page.
5. Distribute chronicle sheets at the end of each book for each player who wants one.

thegreenteagamer |

Yes, but to convey PFS credit you have to follow PFS rules, arbitrary restrictions, and not change the AP in any way, shape, or form. It has to be 100% by the book.
If you plan to do that, count me as withdrawn. I don't want to have to look through a whole archive of rules as to what stuff I am and am not allowed to choose that changes every few months.

![]() |

I have a never used knifemaster Rogue that I made for another game. Started with average gold for class too.
Where does Carrion Crown take place?
Carrion Crown takes place wholly within the nation of Ustalav, the "Gothic horror" nation of Golarion. As Dragoncat's original post suggests, at some point in the past, your character crossed paths with Professor Lorrimor and had amicable dealings - so much so, that you have been asked to attend his funeral in the hamlet of Ravengro. As you might expect, things will escalate from there.

![]() |

Yes, but to convey PFS credit you have to follow PFS rules, arbitrary restrictions, and not change the AP in any way, shape, or form. It has to be 100% by the book.
That is not true. If you run the AP in campaign mode (which is how you are going to run it anyhow) you can use whatever rules you want, change the AP however you want, etc.
Alternatively, if you are participating in the Carrion Crown Adventure Path with an ongoing group undertaking the entire, six-chapter campaign, you may receive credit for playing the sanctioned portions of the adventure as if you had played a pregenerated character. In this case, GMs running the Adventure Path are not bound to the rules of the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign (such as 20-point buy, unavailability of hero points, etc.) when running the campaign or the sanctioned portion of the adventure. Pathfinder Society characters and characters from an ongoing Adventure Path campaign may not play in the same adventure.

Khardan, The Spear of Arqueros |

I generally prefer to wait until I've chosen the party before backstories become linked.
No problem. Just trying to be interesting. :-) The links are purposefully easy to excise.
A note for applicants both present & future:
I'm going to try to pick a party with a variety of campaign traits. Therefore, it might be a good idea to pick a trait other than Teacher's Pet/Chance Saviour at this juncture if you want to have a good chance of being picked. :)
So, either of the two underserved traits work for Khardan as well as the one he chose. I'll switch his trait to "Making Good on Promises."

![]() |

Despite the glut of Teacher's Pets, I'm going to stick with that trait. Inspired by Greatness definitely would also fit Talekar's background, but it just doesn't seem as helpful mechanically as the current trait. Even more so given the Archivist's Naturalist performance.
Thanks for the opportunity to switch it up anyway. I guess that means Dhamiskeanus has the corner on his trait at the moment then. :D

Cedric will take subject of study then (Undead/Haunts). I was undecided on which worked better for his background. This is a good way to resolve that haha.
Would you allow a re-flavoring of The Exemplar of the Society trait? (it gives +1 channel/day, I'd likely flavor it as something along the lines of his cheery personality/thoughts grant him more attunement with channeling divine/good energies. His deity would be Sarenrea)
