Sad news, many questions

I live in Tuscaloosa Alabama, we have lost our Venture Lt. and becasuse of it have lost most of our players.

My question is how do I find the Venture Captain in charge of my region, and what do I need to do in an attempt to fill in for our lost Lt.
This comes from the fact that I am sick of doing online games and or doing it randomly at the University and then not having the DM/ST ever show back up for running, or finding out that the society numbers I am given do not exist.

Theres gotta be something I can do in order to save Pathfinder in my home town.

Talk to the V-C from that list, but you don't need to be "official" to run games. Just talk to the store or wherever you play, and start organizing games. Put up a poster in the store, start a Warhorn site, and boom! You're a Lodge.

Sounds like there was something else going on there (or they were running a lot of the games and no one steppd in to fill in the role

I was the one running the games, it just kinda died, I have no idea why or how, it just kinda did, the VC stepped away for RL reasons, which left us not knowing what to do.

Can you contact anyone to get a better idea? Did another hobby or game takeover?

Just keep running the games, you don't need overarching support or anything, you can get your own pathfinder numbers. We're far enough away from anyone else to be our own semi autonomous collective at my store

One problem player can cause problems for EVERYONE if they're disruptive enough. Do you have contact information for the others? Sometimes if you talk with them you can find out what the issue is. It may be a problem player. It might be that everyone suddenly got other real life events that are competing: relationships, jobs, children... Heck, low attendance can also happen when good weather offers other alternatives.

It can sometimes be hard to hit critical mass with a group in the early days. Pick fun scenarios, be enthusiastic, and keep at it.

If the issue is your problem player, you can say no to people who don't play well with others.

One has to be very careful with this application of the 'don't be a jerk' rule.

If it comes off as a personal attack, then it flips the arithmetic and makes the people saying 'no' look like jerks and damages the community.

If the request that they not play with the group is not worded strong enough, they may get a false impression that it is either a temporary thing, or that there were only certain individuals that didn't want to play with them.

Having seen the work that a couple of 'exiled' people did to destroy home games in the past to 'exclude the folks that didn't like them', this is not hyperbole.

Exercise caution and restraint, but be firm.

Dealing with problem players is always awkward-- especially if they aren't outright obvious problem players, but just sorta problem players. Those are the players that tend to dampen the fun for everybody else, but who don't really do anything outrageous you can point your finger at and say, hey, these folks are problems.

One can just not invite them to home games, although even that can be awkward if there's a history and a long-standing group. Harder for PFS played in public locations.

Problem players, or even problem GMs.

Anecdotal tale from a different campaign...

GM is a tactically-minded sort that isn't afraid to let the dice fall where they may.

I as a player never had a problem at their table. In fact, they were ALSO one of the few GMs in the campaign that encouraged that campaign's equivalent of 'creative solutions'.

Said GM would not 'walk back' a death result, but they'd be more than willing to let folks linger at near death and give the party a chance to revive their fallen comrades, or at least stabilize them.

At some point, the GM in question got a reputation as a 'killer GM', and the apparatchik of the campaign levied all sorts of restrictions, limitations, and other things against the GM. However, since the GM *enjoyed* GMing, they continued to run.

But it really got old when *every* scenario-equivalent session they ran we as players would be quizzed informally to see if our GM had 'killed anyone last slot'...

...one of the many reasons I don't play much in that campaign anymore...


I have killed 2 pc's TOTAL since year 1 I think??

Like others have said nothing stops you from running games yourself.

Try setting up a site on warhorn for the store where you normally run games at. (I know it's not perfect) And then spread the word out that you're running games again.

Don't forget to post the games as public on the paizo site too. I've had people check the site to find local PFS games.
